Thank you so much for this video. I am a Mexican American and I feel isolated a lot of times due to not always seeing people that are like me as older OT practitioners. Watching your videos makes me feel supported.
you welcome

Hi Nancy! Thank you for a very informative video. I am currently in the Masters OT program, looking more into Peds and was wondering if you knew about how to get into PRN with Peds? If it’s as successful as in a SNF? Thank you!!
hey , look on indeed and see whats there
Hi! I am a new grad COTA and have been struggling with Care plan meetings. Would you be able to upload a video about this?
You just talk about how the patient is doing in therapy, and ask about their DC plans
I am a junior in college and can’t decide if I want to apply for OT school next year or not. I just don’t know if it’s worth all the debt. Do you think I should go for it even if I’m not super passionate about it? :/ Idk if I should risk paying all that money & end up not even liking the job 😭
I took four years off between undergrad and OT school. No need to rush, just take more time to shadow and research. I'm so happy with my decision even though it is expensive (about $70k for the whole program). However, I did not have debt from undergrad and my living expenses are super low. It took some time to get to this point. The best part of OT to me is that it is so versatile and if you don't like what you're doing you can switch to something else. One person I shadowed works in a school and a SNF on the weekends. She said it feels like two completely different careers.
@@juliarodriguez7228 I’m glad you are enjoying it! That’s great to hear. I am in the same boat; I will have no debt from undergrad because I have full ride for softball. I live at home & commute to my school so I don’t have any living expenses either. But the problem is that the school I go to is private, and their OT program is about 90k🙄 so I’m just super on the fence. Taking some time off would probably be a good idea
@@julesthames Yeah don't do anything if you're on the fence. I didn't even know what OT was until 3 years after undergrad (bio major) and I learned about it while working at my retail job.. 90K is definitely a lot. Thankfully there were 5 OT programs in my area to choose from (with the cheapest being a public university at $45k, but it's so competitive I didn't even apply). The reason I'm ultimately okay with the cost is because I honestly can't see myself doing anything else (for a while I was thinking genetic counseling, but grad programs are equally expensive and the career seems less versatile than OT).
I have a question that I hope you can answer. Do occupational therapists need the COVID vaccine to find employment? Just curious. Thank you!
yes this is now part of the hiring process
