Fairground Show People

The life and work of show people. During the winter months some are in the haulage business and one I talked to was a maintenance engineer. However, travelling with the fairgrounds are in their blood and they love this style of life. Most were born into it and can trace back generations of this way of life in their ancestors. They were a delight to talk too and spend time with; lovely people.

Children need a good education ,as the system of running fairs means many can't follow on in the parents foot steps, as the gaffs are a preset size and number of guild member allowed, so say you have three sons one may carry on with the family equipment the other two need seek jobs outside the business ,if you have an higher education then better job prospects.
So not all born as show people will stay in it.

That is totally wrong. All sons of guild members can enter the guild if they proposed and seconded.

@@lukesproxton2607 i never said family can't join guild. but being in the guild does not mean you will have a place to set up on.
