- Our third week in the shop and the tear out continues. Our first bits of machinery arrive (too big for what we need), our first bits of shop infrastructure arrive (too big for what we need), and I power through some manflu to get things prepped while I wait for a paint delivery so we can get the shop painted.

You’re dead right. That was just impatience to play with a new toy. Been spraying with a full face mask and coveralls since.
We only rent this space, but we have the luxury of time to get it right before we start putting machines in.

gonna be alot of work there but you sound like you will handle it nicely. for masking up cables and such before painting i find tinfoil really handy and easy to use.
good tip! Probably best to avoid aluminium foil if you're wrapping conductors, though. Cling film works well in that case.

When you 1st mentioned your internet connection, was concerned that you were going to have to get into the world of wayleave agreements, which are quite frankly a bloody nightmare. You should have a medal 🏅, man flu and carrying on! 🤗😂
I’ve been there before , and then having to do my own digging and then engineers turning up and driving straight off because they want traffic lights put in to climb the pole on a rural road 😂 thankfully just a straight line swap here just took some time to get it organised
Congratulations on starting what appears to be a huge but rewarding project. Creating a fresh clean slate out of 27 years of whatever is a tall order. One suggestion: remember to record the voice overs carefully, they're a little hard to understand sometimes. Good Luck!!

One pro tip- consider getting a impact driver. So much quicker than a screwdriver and you don't get torque on your wrist.

@ 13:20 (Somewhere in this part of the video) you seems struggling to cover cables with your piece of paper...
When i must protect from paint plugs or switches, i take these plastic bags sold in roll (no matter if it's trash bags or for freeze food, all i ask to them is to be air-thight) ending with one hand to keep the bag closed, using the other hand to circle with the paper tape (i hold the tip of the tape with the thumb from the closing hand, do one turn and, if needed, add two more so i'm sure there's no paint that'll be able to pass through the bag)

@@m9workshop there is a lot of crackle and hiss on your voice over so you might want a different mic
It's just got to learn to talk naturally when doing voice overs. He can do it sometimes, but the voiceover sounds like he's trying to do Christian Bale as Batman.
@@rsporter 😂 this cracked me up. I think it's a combination of having a cold, using the shotgun mic off the camera and not knowing how to edit audio properly. Let me know if I do any better on the next episode 😉
Hi...new subscriber to your channel. I had to actualy turn down my volume as the sound (bass) wasnt great but I'm sure it will be addressed in future videos. It's like that guy of Blacktail Studio. He has a deep voice and talks too much...but other then that he makes good videos. Good luck on your latest achievement. Looking forward to see you grow from strength to strength

Sadly, only rent. But plan to be here for a while and as this is a side business the shop has to be clean and functional, or it just won’t be possible to work efficiently

Once upon a time I trained to be
sorry why can't you fix the roof? The idea of water leaking into the ceiling is eating at me 😂 "This isn't my roof, this isn't my ceiling to be changing even if I wanted to" 11:24
It's a problem with the original roof construction that can't be fixed without stripping the whole lot off. No ventilation means the inside surface of the roof condenses wet air and then because there's no counter battens or membrane, when it drips down it has nowhere to go but drip down the purlins onto the inner ceiling liner. If you silicone all the board joins it stops the water dripping through but then it's stuck and will find another way out.
Best I can do is remove all the silicone, add some internal vents and I've asked the owner if I can put some ridgeline vents in as well. I've also started replacing all the roofing bolts with new EDPM washered bolts to stop ingress through there (you'll see this in the CNC ep4 where I strip part of the roof)
