Most times you can replace with identical springs, but you won't know for certain if the springs you replace were correct unless you weigh the door.

Why do you not weigh the doors?

You’d only weigh the door if you suspect that it had the wrong spring on it. This can happen when an inexperienced tech uses a spring gauge to determine what spring broke, but gets fooled into putting in a stronger spring than necessary because what he’s taking off is a high cycle, or even commercial spring, which have thicker wire. Or…. The previous tech was dishonest, didn’t have the right spring, and used what he had on the truck. Both situations happen more than you’d think, and it’s embarrassing.
Otherwise just replace what broke with an identical spring.
