It's easy to use and gives you a lot of control over the size and shape of your curls. Plus, it can create both tight curls and loose, beachy waves depending on how you use it. Now, before we get started, let's go over some flat iron dos and don'ts. Do use a heat protectant spray before you start styling your hair. This will help prevent damage and keep your hair looking healthy. Don't use a flat iron on wet hair, as this can cause damage and breakage. And finally, do make sure that your flat iron is clean and in good condition before using it.

I'm glad I found you I'm 58 & got long hair but thinking of having it cut to a short bob. I love the wavy look & I'm going on holiday soon so I don't know whether to have it done now or when I come home ( at least on holiday I can tie it up with a clip) I'm not very good at curling it

This is like 10 months old, so I’m new to the group. My hair is shoulder length and naturally has wave. I use as minimal heat as possible! I air dry, then go in with my iron to add volume at roots and maybe touch up some random wonky pieces. Much of my own wave. So, I’m wondering if I can use this method doing what I do? I really only do it to add texture and volume! My hair is fine, but with decent body and wave.

Thanks for this i tried it today, it worked well especially using the dry shampoo to give it volume.
I have to go slower to hold a wave but it works!
I also use living proof full thickening mousse beyond the full thickening cream both work amazing with a short bob.

My intro to flat irons was a huge mistake! I bought the cheapest flat iron I could find in a supermarket a decade ago, my hair was in a short bob AND we were really trying to curl our hair with flat irons back then, which was a real challenge for a styling novice like me, so I gave up after less than half a dozen attempts.
I haven't used a curling iron since I was a teenager in the early 90s (b.1976). I had a curling brush dryer in 1996, which also wasn't a success. I could get into this though. Right now my hair is by chance a very trendy kitty cut. I didn't ask for a kitty cut, I just showed photos and described what I wanted back in Dec.2023. I just had it trimmed last Saturday.
Last time I used styling products regularly, we had gel, mousse and hairspray. 20 years ago, I had a long "pixie" and gave ID wax a try, but I think I did it wrong; I was using it like we used to use gel.😳🤦♀

Your fortunate to have thick hair which I can’t do what your doing because I would burn my thin fragile hair but all I have to do is salt spray and cool blow dry then I have my look with texture and lift. Thanks ❤️💚💙😻
Thick hair actually tends to be drier and therefore more prone to damage.

It all depends on your hair type and what style you are trying to achieve. I keep mine between 310-320.
