One of my pet peeves regarding hair stylists is, once they have cut and styled your hair, they turn you out of the chair without any instruction on how to style at home.
So, naturally, I go online and find you...someone who is more than happy to put in the extra hours creating content so clients of OTHER stylists can learn how to style the cut.

This is the best point - that people come out of the salon after a cut-and-style with this "great" look only to not be able to re-create it at home! What is the point??? There is FAR more value in getting taught how to make your hairstyle great everyday than to just go in and get a bob and wave good-bye and have it fail the very next time you wash and style it! I'd pay more for that kind of service - I don't get it at my salon, sadly, but this video of yours has given me so many tips, I'm so grateful! (I'll also caveat that by saying I've never asked for good tips, either, so there's that...) Also, I agree that it really does help to have this kind of info when working with my stylist. So kudos to you! Those folks who think you're hurting the industry and spilling "secrets" need to take a good look at their own fears and deal with those instead of lashing out at helpful folks like you. ;) I'm going to re-watch this and take notes now for tomorrow morning when I style my own new bob. :D

I'm surprised by the comment posted by that hairstylist. Now, I can't speak for everyone, but for myself, your videos made me realize that I wasn't thrilled with my hairstylist or my hairstyle. I thought I was communicating what I wanted, but every time I left, I wanted to cry. She was a wonderful person, but I just wasn't equipped with the right communication tools to express myself and so she kept giving me the same haircut. Finally, during covid, I called a different hair salon. I won't lie, I was scared. Hairstylists can be very intimidating. But they were so kind! The stylist asked me a lot of questions (no one else had ever done that)! Thanks to your videos, I was able to tell and then show her some ideas that I liked. She was so nice. She respected my wishes about keeping a certain length and since my grey was showing, and the ends were turning redish, she came up with a solution to save me from having to get color every 6 weeks. Anyway, recently, you had a video where you talked about texturizing. I went last week and asked her about maybe shortening my hair, adding bangs (I had pictures), and texturizing. She lit up! She said she could do a little or a lot depending on how I liked it! I'm already talking too much, but I ended up telling her to go for it since I trust her now! But I got ALL of my ideas and my nerve to speak up from watching your videos and taking notes! This last haircut is amazing! I love it! I was dancing when I left the salon and couldn't wait to show it off! So please, don't stop doing what you do! Goodness! Where will I get my ideas for my next style?😂❤❤❤

I, as many women, have walked out of a salon frustrated with not knowing what to do at home to get the look I want. A stylist has limited time while I’m in the chair, that time is consumed with whatever they are doing that day. There’s little time, if any, for them to have me style my own hair while in their chair. Bottom line if my hair looks good and someone comes up to me and asks who cuts my hair then I’m promoting the stylist. My hairdresser has asked me to send videos like yours before my appointment. She told me videos like yours help her to improve her technique when cutting hair. Because she already has training, she is able to implement your techniques and get a great cut. It’s also great to watch how you instruct the client how to style at home. My hairdresser does take time to show me how to style at home, but with her limited time, she can’t take 20 minutes to do step-by-step instructions. I’ve watched several of your videos and find them very helpful to learn to style at home.
I think most women (at least) would love to be able to share one of your videos with their hairstylist instead of trying to explain exactly what they want and coming out of their appointment frustrated that they didn’t get the cut they wanted because of miscommunication. It shows us non-stylists the "why and how-to" so much better than just a video showing how a pro like you can get the right look 👍 Admittedly as a DIYer for my very fine/thin hair, I've learned SO much from watching your videos... I've yet to find a stylist who truly has given me a good cut/style. They 'say' they can work with my hair type and then I walk out with a horrible cut for hair that grows so slowly I'm relegated to hat-wearing! Ugh! YES yes yes! I've mastered my semi-perm colour at home and my stylist encourages me to do it. She knows it's costly to come to her for it since semi-perm fades out so quick and I'm dedicated to keeping it bright. She says she loves it because I take such good care of it so it helps her work last longer out in the world too. Teaching people how on CZcams is not as demonic as this person is making it out to be. I run into this a lot, and I've gone through a lot of hairstylist because they will not communicate with me. You show a picture. Tell them what you want in detail. They shake their head with no discussion about your hair type and lifestyle and then do what they want. One of the main reasons I watch your videos to get more education so that I can talk to the beautician and we are on the same page. This video was so helpful to me! I've always struggled using my flat iron, and now I know exactly why. Also, yesterday I just got all my hair cut off into a shoulder length angled bob. My stylist sent me out with a very precise, very straight look (my actual hair is fine and wavy), and I looked you up specifically for tips on styling it myself. It's just what I needed, and thank you!

Justin I’ve been watching you for a while. Years! First off, as of this year, I just retired as a stylist. I love all your tips and have used them. I would have no problem educating my clients in taking care of their hair. I feel that they love that. And part of most stylists is product sales. And it makes it easy to provide that extra info to go along with that. A bonus service. Win win! Second, I wear my hair in a bob just like this. And love all the tips you just gave. Spot on in my opinion. ❤

Your information is very helpful. Please continue. As a client, it is helpful to understand what goes into a cut, so I can style it at home myself. One of my pet peeves is when stylist cuts and styles my hair when I cannot watch in a mirror to see what they’re doing. When they’re done they spin the chair around and tell me how amazing I look! I’m not impressed and just think…I sure wish I knew what you did it. I love your channel. Keep it up! You’ve helped me so much!

You are not off base. Watching your videos have helped me with being in control of styling my hair at home. My stylist can cut and color my hair, but I’m learning the tips and tricks of styling through your channel. So, please continue your instruction and inspiration for all of us! I appreciate your channel so much and look forward to watching them all.

I’ve depended on hairdressers for over 50 years. Most of my experience has been that most stylists are not concerned that I would like for my hair to look great for more than the day the stylist does it. I think they forget that if I can duplicate the style at home, then I will be quick to acknowledge the stylist and the salon when someone compliments my hair. -- which happens alot now.
I have very straight, fine hair but lots of it. I appreciate that you are here to help us and spend so much time doing it. Please do not stop❤️You are a God send! And thank you for the way you tell us about the products used without bias!
I now have a master stylist that delights in telling me how to copy what he does, along with the products

I have learned so much from your videos about the cutting process. This has helped me to keep looking for a stylistI feel is as educated and knowledgeable about what I’m trying to achieve as a customer. Not all stylists are created equal! And a fancy salon does not make a good stylist either. I watch closely in the mirror when they are cutting and I think I have gotten to the point that one visit will tell me if I have found a good one!! I am not afraid to change if I am not happy. I have also learned that trying over and over to get what I want is to darn frustrating. Then we get to the part of the customer having to style the haircut she asked for from the pics she shared and that’s a whole other thing! Please don’t stop helping us! You have been amazing, and so patient with us. Don’t let a few comments make you question what you have been doing. Truthfully I feel most stylists don’t put the effort in that you do, which is why they aren’t as talented.

I appreciate your education on this style, as I recently got a bob hairstyle and have struggled to style it. This helped me a lot. The critic you mentioned at the end of your video is out to lunch. Education is power, and we all need more of that. Thank you.

Your videos have shown me how to consistently get the style I want at home - often I’m happier with the way I now style my short hair than when I leave the hairdresser appointment thanks to watching you help your clients. As a side note - I show long coated dogs and their coats and drape and shape haven’t looked better thanks to you with brush, blow drying and flat iron info :-)

your videos are amazing, they actually make me want to go to my stylist and get a trim or new cut . I wouldn't go to a doctor or other professional if they didn't share concepts or methods they were using to help me or make things better. I also love that you're never judgmental or critical. Keep up the great content, it's appreciated!!

“How” was extremely helpful! Keep instructing us as our ability to explain what we want might actually save a hairstylist/client relationship. I am at a bit of an impasse right now trying to get what feels like a good cut and then knowing how to style it out. Thank you again for this kind of a video.
