Enter the Alpine Zone while bagging three peaks over 4,000 feet on this ridgeline hike! Yes, you CAN have everything. The Franconia Ridge Traverse first showcases the many cascades of the Falling Waters trail and then takes you to the next level along the Appalachian Trail's Franconia Ridge! This 6-8 hour, 8.2 mile loop in the White Mountains of New Hampshire is exactly what the doctor ordered for your daily dose of epic.

I am 57, and have hiked the the White Mountains (mostly Washington/presidentials) since 18. Getting fewer, & farther between the older I get, but still brings me back to being young when on the trails. It's gonna suck when I can no longer do this.

  • @thefactualconservative9922

You're trail narration is PERFECT!! Love all the info.

I absolutely recommend going up old bridle path 1st and then down falling waters. 5 hrs up then its all (almost) downhill the rest of the way. Total time approx 7 to 10 hrs.

Thanks so much for watchin'! The hike can take anywhere from 6-8 hours depending on your speed/ability. We hiked the loop in 7 hours with frequent stops for filming, etc...just come prepared for a full day of trekking (plus plenty of food, water, and layers) and you should be good to go ;)

Hey! This took us around 7 hours to complete. We began at 9am and were done a few minutes passed 4pm (though we stop often since we're filming as we go ;) ) - I'd say 6-7 hours is a good estimate, though!

I live here. For 24 years I lived in Tacoma, WA. and hiked much of the N. Cascades...
This is a ZOO! I LONG to return to the PNW...There were days when I'd hike there, seeing only 2-4 people. No roads. No wires. No "tourists". Just eagles, elk and bear. And you'd see all 3 in one day!
I love the Whites, and used to think this was true "wilderness"... Kinda like your first girlfriend- she's the prettiest. Then you go to Hollywood and every woman there is a 10. lol.
I'm lucky to be here. VERY.
But if you ever get an opportunity to hike Mt. RAINIER or the Cascades?
    Your perspective will change.

How would you go about camping in a tent if looking to practice overnight hikes?
