Shogun was such a beast in Pride! He’s one of my all time favorite fighters. Used to watch Pride whenever I could. Getting introduced to now the most legendary hall of fame fighters.
I watch about every mma KO video that has ever been put on YT. This was top notch and super easy to watch. I loved that it was all Pride. I'm glad the UFC doesn't guard this library as close as they do their personal one, everyone should be able to see these KO's on YT. Thank you for making it.

Gary Goodridge is a perfect example of “live by the sword, die by the sword .” Poor guy has to take a ludicrous amount of pills a day just to barely function, because of CTE.
These guys hesitating and or showing restraint on their hammerfists because their opponent is OUT out and they don't want to do any further damage, is pretty heart warming.

I'm sick of people claiming that Pride fights were fixed. These fights were as real as it gets! Pride was better than the UFC at this point and I wish they had the same rules.
The Coleman vs Takada fight was DEFINITELY fixed, I also suspect Randleman vs Sakuraba was fixed as well. Otherwise I think the fights were legit especially considering how many mismatches were made between legit fighters and Japanese pro wrestlers
That was fun to watch. My first Pride event live was the 2004 Total Elimination Heavyweight Grand Prix. First time watching Pride live and first time watching Fedor live. Seeing these old clips reminds me of just how much fun those days were. :)

Sometimes we do. I mean there are plenty of nasty kos in the ufc today. Josh Emmett nearly killed bryce mitchell. And dustin poirier knocked benoit out and landed a nuke of a hammer fist. Fighters are just much better now skill wise so theres less kos.
I am amazed with all these Pride knockouts that there was not a single fedor emelianenko knockout, the Last Emperor sure dished out his fair share of knockouts but not a single one shown.

Rules were definitely better back then. Made much more sense if this is to be an actual sport of fighting. Yellow cards (prize deductions) and standing up fights for passivity was great, too. Just an overall much better product than that dogshit UFC puts out these days..
The Randleman knees...they can't do that in the modern Unified Rules can they? That was NASTY. Although, really physically impressive for Randleman to do that over and over and hit those knees precisely.
very nice montage. I was waiting for a longer one after the other pride compilation you did with more orthadox finishes mixed with downed knees, kicks and stomps. Keep up the UFC content but the addition of other big promotions (past and present) is great.

@@Ill.righteous31 oh for sure. That's the warrior mentality at the end of the day. I did kick boxing for ten years, four of them at (a very low) competition level. Training consisted of limited heavy sparring here and there and that was enough for me, didn't want to take the risk long term, especially going into a technical day job. No one is going to remember my name in the annals of combat sport, but many will remember Gary. So it is what it is. The guys I feel sorry for are some of the ones I trained with who never made it but heavy sparred for decades and probably will get CTE. Again, they had a great time doing it, so it is what it is.
Goodridge was such a brute, oftenly he'd throw more shots after a fighter being knocked out and made lots of trauma. Yet very quickly he lost his chin and other fighters didn't spare him a bit

It was a fun time with lots of crazy fights and some rally exceptional fighters at their best. But back then you had a big fight card with top talents across both Pride and the UFC once every one to two months. Nowadays we're truely spoiled by the amount of high level fights we get to see and also the overall talent pool is much deeper. I miss the stomps, soccer kicks and knees to the head on the ground though, just makes fights more dynamic and closer to what a real fight would be.
