So Madeline was a psychopath, Operations was a sociopath and Michael seems to be part normal part sociopath and everyone else is a nervous wreck because of these deranged people at the top. Sounds like every workplace I have been in.
By operations saying that Maybe he's better than us is him actually believing it. Michael not only stands up to him he even will threaten him to make operations think before going after him. That is why Operations respect Michael and even in some ways scared of him. He truly doesn't know where michael may come from to get at him if he decides to take him out.

I felt that constantly pitting Operations and Madeline against Michael and Nikita added too much constant palace intrigue to the show. They could have had bigger missions in multi-pronged directions if they weren't constantly at each other's throats.
That was really the entire point of the show though, section one was a collection of people who were forced to work there under a tyrannical ruthless leader (Operations). Even Michael (who is generally supposed to be one of the "relatively" good guys), when put in charge, gets drunk on the power, basically turns into Operations Junior, and really was bailed out of the risky mission by NIkita.
I didn’t notice this before, but Alberta is looking nauseous. Now that I know she was sick while filming, it’s noticeable that she isn’t feeling very well.
