@@charlieshooter hi thank you
That's for sharing what about a shed ..what can I put on the inside I put stainer on out side
If you don't want the knots to run on the inside, use this. But it may be a bit different with how hot a shed gets in the sun, it may weep anyway. Personally i wouldn't be so worried about the knots showing through in a shed as it is part and parcel of what it is. Each to their own though.
Hi Charlie! Thanks for the video. Do you know if it's ok to use it with subsequent water based top coats? I know some of the knotting solutions don't like water based paints. Many thanks!
As far as I know yes! I have recently used water based top coats and water based primers and it seems fine.
Good advice. Can you say what to do when already painted and knots show through please or is it too late?
I think you'll probably be better rubbing it back and applying the solution and then re-painting if you don't want it to come back. The solution needs to go direct on the knot to work. Or just try another coat of gloss to cover it and see how it goes if that seems like too much work...it may hold off for long enough.
@@charlieshooter thank you that's really good to know. Appreciate your help.
Hi Charlie, great informative video. We bought an old house in Bulgaria to retire in. We have been putting up gyps boards and no matter what glue or binding material we use between them after a few weeks a thin, sometimes sticky, shiny line shows up through the paint. We were told by a friend back home that we should get knot paint to cover it up, but it is not available in Bulgaria and would be expensive to buy overseas to ship here. I was therefore inspired to see the little can you had of this knotting solution. I only seem to see it being sold in the UK. Due to Brexit it is really difficult for us to import from the UK and the price is prohibitive, but more the red tape is a pain in the neck. Do you know if it is available anywhere in the EU or only sold in the UK?
The only thing we could find in Bulgaria similar or that is what the salesman told us is Vivechrom Vivedur block, but that seems to only cover up stains not sticky stuff coming through. We have tried so many things, one room being painted now about 4 times with different things supposed to hide it, but still that shiny line comes through :(
I'll be honest I have found it diffficult to find over here sometimes...it's not stocked everywhere. I have no idea where you'd find in Europe, or if it's called anything different. Sorry, not much help!
@@charlieshooter Hi Charlie, we found it in Sweden, it is called Kvistlakk.
@@Icelandscot Brilliant....I'm glad you found it!
I have used this product on knots before, and used primer, then top coat, the knots still bleed. In other areas sanded down existing paint to start from stratch and use knot treatment, and it alll have bleed through again....
This does need to be in contact with the knot to work. I have never had a problem with it bleeding through though.
Hi Charlie, I've had issues with knots in a garden gate. I used Colron on all the exposed knots, gave it an undercoat and top coat and out of all of the knots there was one that bled. I have since rubbed the gate down again, applied the knotting solution to the offending knot - 4 applications - and all the other knots, repainted the gate (two coats) but this morning I have noticed that the same knot feels tacky, it's like it has reacted to the top coat as it seemed ok when the gate had been rubbed down. Can you suggest anything?
I'll be honest, I've never had any problems with it, but have always used it indoors. Maybe if the wood is treated it doesn't work too well??
Can you use on panted doors
If they're already painted then i would sand the paint back as much as you can and then apply it.
I always use Colron, but had a door installed and the the frame was undercoated and glossed by the installer and stains have come through. How can I remove these?
It may be worth stripping the frame back, as shown in my other video here czcams.com/video/8CNAL9ViNc8/video.html and starting again (not really loads of work!) or you could rub it back a bit and re-coat it in gloss....and hope for the best. It may stay covered or it may bleed back through at a later date.
Charlie do you know what knotting solution is? Is it a weak Shellac solution? I’ve just been applying some from an old bottle of Johnstone’s brand, and some solids have separated out from it. It looks a bit waxy, but re-dissolves with a good shaking.
John fury really gets under Carl frochs skin and very understandable Carl would KO John easy weight wouldn't matter Carl is a boxer John isn't and never as been he's living off Tyson's reputation and he's not that good
I can't help but think this comment has gone on the wrong video!! 😂
