Thank you so much for this series of lessons. I'm English, but I have Māori family/heritage and have wanted to learn the language for a year or so now!

My new zealander friend's Pounamu necklace drew my attention and this started a chat about this stone, what it means to the Maori and how one should and shouldn't receive one. It eventually brought me to the basics of Maori language. Cuz who knows? Maybe in my first trip to NZ these basic expressions find me a good Maori friend and they wanna give a Pounamu handmade of any sort loaded with their ancestral energies as a gift to me. The right way I'm supposed to own one. Cool Maori lesson my friend. 👍

Coolness. The Mrs is taking time off work to do a two year course learning Maori next year. I know her and her mates will be chatting their heads off in Maori once she catches up to them. I'd just like to know what they're blabbing on about without them knowing. This is a great start for me. Meanage. Che bae! (Oooo look! I've started already)

Very logically presented - easy to follow, contextually framed, and well paced pronunciation of each word. Now time to practice. Muchisimas gracias!

Mōrena, there isn't a formal/informal "you" in Māori. Hope this helps.

We learnt ahau what’s the difference between ahau and ay

In Māori sentences where you use, "a", au comes after it, not ahau. I think
      a au ✔
      a ahau ❌
