    You should review the Morimoto 7" Sealed Beam LED. Great light with excellent light pattern. Nice wide hotspot.... perfect for single-headlight applications like motorcycles.

    Excellent video on the terminology of headlights. I have a JK 2016 and the first time I drove it on an unlighted highway at night, I was impressed at how poor the stock lights are. Low and Hi-beams were only slightly different as to brightness, and the brightness overall was poor. Ended up slowing down and driving in low beam in order to see anything. I have been looking at the JW Speaker 8700-J. But, before I purchase, I am now going to your channel to check your review. A BIG THUMBS-UP TO YOUR INPUT!!

    Hi, Chris, and friends.
    I had an International 9900i Eagle that I put the trucklite large rectangle beams into. I thought they were a great light for highway use but over a few years the poly lens became abraded and after being polished back up, still performed great. So much better than the halogen lights. You can really see down the road.
    Now i have a Kenworth and put the 4 smaller square J.W. Speaker headlights in. I find they are good on low beam, but on high beam, there is too much light cast down in front of my truck, and that brightness makes it hard to see distance. I feel that the Speaker high beams don't give me enough light downfield, nor in a spread that illuminates enough of the periphery. Also, 3 out of 4 of the Speaker lights are badly fogged up with moisture, and need to be dried out. I intend on drilling small holes and taking out the moist air and replacing it with dry air or helium or something, then sealing them up again.
    I intend on eventually trying a set of trucklite high beams to augment my Speaker low beams. Your thoughts??
    Regards, Brian

    I'm so glad I found your video. I've just started looking for replacement headlights for my 1976 Ramcharger. It still has the original lights and they put our about as much light as a camping lantern at 25 feet. I was confused about lumens vs. lux, as well as domestic vs. Chinese junk. Your video made this very easy to understand. Now I just have to watch some of your other videos to see which one I like the best. You just made my restoration project much, much easier. Thanks again!!

    Until about 20 years ago, American Government only allowed Sealed Beam Headlights, but I found that Bulb type headlights that were only Legal on Motorcycles could replace a sealed beam and give a considerably better beam pattern. If you own an older car where you must use Sealed Beam headlights, look for Motorcycle headlights and instal LEDs in them.

    Wonder which 7'' is the best value light for your money. Since there's so many companies doing LED headlights it's really difficult put your money in the right one. This video is from May 2016...So how much has the LED market changed since then? Put $800 in a pair of LED headlights it's insane...but also put $65 for a pair that's just doesn't work well or have the right light pattern.

      Headlight Revolution Sir, I was glad to see your video about the ELD headlights and I have question(s).
      I'm driving a more than 120 000 miles per year and most of them are "night miles".Yep,I'm a truck driver and driving night time is more effective....anyway....
      Which one of the high quality headlights got very good low beam pattern?
      Which one doesn't have too much parasitic glare?I don't want to "blind" oncoming traffic and cause an accident!
      I don't care much about high beams, at least 90% of the night driving is on low beams.
      I will gladly accept your advice, you sound professional and convincing. Thank you in advance!

    Great over-view and introduction to your testing methodology. I'm curious about the fact that these lights don't seem to be Left or Right but are un-handed. Isn't there supposed to be a cut-off on the driver's side low-beam light such that it doesn't shine into the eyes of oncoming drivers? Or does the cut-off as shown perform that function and give up throwing light farther on the non-driver's side... Also, for use in vehicles that hide-away their headlights it would be nice to know the weights of the units.
    Thanks!

    • @HeadlightRevolution
      @HeadlightRevolution  Před 7 lety

      Yes!
      The headlights that go on the driver/passanger sides are the same lights, so un-handed, yes. The cutoff is that sharp line you see in the DOT approved lights like the Speaker 8700 evo2 or the Vision X Vortex.
      The light goes further because it's brighter, not because the light source is aimed higher.
      they all weigh around 2lbs.
      Thanks for your comments!

    Very helpful video. Do you ever need to install any other type of mounting frame for a LED headlight on a Jeep Wrangler JKU?

      @HeadlightRevolution  Před 7 lety +1

      If you have a 7" round headlight already, you shouldn't need anything to fit. The good quality lights are all standard sized.

    PSA incoming...
    Yeah, I got fooled by the "Generic Chinese Black Projector" lights that were actually marked "DOT Approved".
    Sure, they're a LOT brighter than the originals (1965 Mustang), but the light is so scattered I can't aim them for shit (no upper cutoff so LOTS of light up high where I don't want it).
    Stay away.

      You should be able to use any of those as long as that Humvee uses a universal 7in round headlight socket! If they do, then you can use any of the headlights I have linked for you below! Let us know if you have any other questions, have a good one!

    should put the prices on them too. JW is nice and all but no way am i paying $300-600 for them so best bang for the buck is that united pacific 31400 for $140! price and quality go hand in hand but overpriced BS is just gouging untill cheaper later on/

    • @HeadlightRevolution
      @HeadlightRevolution  Před 4 lety

      This video is pretty old and if we had the pricing listed at the time it would be way off now. Pricing changes over time and we didn't want our video to have outdated pricing 6 months later.
      As far as your opinion about United Pacific, I will have to respectfully challenge - there is no comparison between JWS and UO. The UP headlights are cheaper for a reason... it's not that one is ripping you off and one is a good deal. The JWS headlights are 10x better in terms of light output and driving experience. Trust me, I've used both.

      @@mrderek800 If the headlight is a fully Integrated LED headlight, there is no way to replace the LED itself, you would need to be warrantied a new housing.

    • @HeadlightRevolution

      Timothy, we find that most people go with sealed beams, and the older generation of bulbs didn't do very well in the Jeep headlights. With the new generation that came out they work a lot better so we made a kit for them.

      Thank you for the reply. I restore older British sports cars and originality, at least the appearance of originality, is somewhat important. That's why most folks wishing to upgrade the lighting on their classic British cars use the original head lamps and replace the incandescent bulbs with halogen or LED bulbs. More and more are going to LEDs. Thanks again for getting back to me.
