When the only set you lose in a tournament yet is a tie-break 6-8 to Dkokovic you know you’re having a pretty darn good tournament
Lmao, never stronger competition. Almost 37-year old is number 1 and competing with 20 years younger kids. Djokovic had to make billion unforced errors in this match in order for Sinner to beat him. Sinner with his best tennis ever wouldn't take more than 9 games to a prime Djokovic. The guy is literally a Berdych v2. Average good tennis player.
@@archicad3717 Cry cry baby
@@archicad3717it amazes me to see stupidity of the comments of Djokovic fans; no context, no relevance to what was previously posted…just blunt and superficial defending when there is no need
@archicad3717 so what about the previous matches Djokovic has lost to Sinner, admit it he's on his way to a care home soon the old boy!
Questo è tutto quello che vi è rimasto. L'immaginazione e la pensione alle porte. Buonanotte@@archicad3717
Sinner is playing insanely good the whole tournament, definitely deserves to take the trophy!
He is and maybe he does. I somehow predict Medvedev but let’s see

Let’s wait to see Medvedev /Zverev
The one who deserves to take the trophy will won the trophy. So simple is that.
You know a player is in trouble when they're being pushed as far behind the baseline as Djokovic was for so much of that match. Sinner hitting with such depth and weight.
That signature down the line forehand from him at full stretch is awesome. Ruthless ball striking.
Exactly
It's incredible because through the years I have seen so many heavy hitters but sinner has something special in his balls, always perfect depth, gunshot power, just the right balance of flat and spin. You can hear it when he hits, it feels different.
And his serve. I was shocked seeing djokovic being pushed so far out wide. It was unreturnable at times.
@@sebm6723And he's just as good cross-court on the stretch, a future No.1 here!
Sinner has improved incredibly. The guy has an insane mentality. He’s there to stay, and he deserves a Slam!
Hasn’t improved. He was always this good. Took you long enough to wake up.
@@TheDPgamer I have been following him since next gen. It took him time to reach the level he’s at, even though he’s obviously been showing enormous talent since the very beginning. I got no time to argue about stupid shit like you dude.
@@TheDPgamer rubbish. Sinner's stamina and footwork are better now than last year. He's picking up those corner balls from Novak, which used to result in winners
@@TheDPgamer Sinner has always been constantly improving, and every time he is interviewed he says that he still needs to improve in many things. The leap in quality has occurred in the last six months
@@IPostmoderni Well you comment was stupid dude, Sinner has always been so good. Stfu.
This is only a shock if you haven't been watching Sinner for the last 6 months. He is the best player in the world right this minute. The scoreline is a surprise though.

that's really unbelievable, against Novak
I cannot remember that statistic in a grand slam since Novak is a top 3 player
Haha rubbing it in
I am a Novak fan and Sinner totally deserved this win but calling Djokovic lucky is just reaching too far.
Andy Murray beat djokovic in 012 in straight sets l
Djokovic's opponent usually makes more (unforced) errors than he. But Sinner is as steady. Amazing groundstrokes. Can easily hit winners from all over the court. He is so balanced.
That balance is what i've noticed more about Sinner recently. Although he has huge power off the ground, he's using it more precisely now.
Than him*.
Never seen Djokovic look like this by an opponent, he knows what others feel when playing him. Was lucky to get a set.

Fantastic Sinner, so composed, excellent foot work and gets behind the ball even under pressure. Hard ball striking. He will win the trophy if he can maintain this level..
Amazing tennis game. You're the best Jannik Sinner. We love you for the best tennis player and your good heart.
What Novak had during the first two sets was a strong and talented opponent called "Sinner", that's what he had.
Yes, however, it's not that the undisputed number 1 becomes a mediocre player and a talented one becomes the new star all of a sudden. Today something was off clearly, only time will tell . Btw, Sinner still has to win the final!
I think it’s a simple case of age finally catching up with the great man
You are clueless
Did you see playing Sinner during the last 6 months? He is more then just a talented player now, for me the end result was not a surprise at all. There was nothing off with Djoko, Sinner simply plaeyed clearly better. @@lorenzogumier7646
@@Sanctified57not at all. He is literally the same as last year when he won 3 slam made all 4 finals and won the atp finals and went undefeated after Wimbledon.
Qué jugador este Sinner, lo que ha hecho hoy es una proeza de la historia del deporte.
Djoko, at 36 years old, still has the athletic condition and mental strength of the absolute top: a master class.
If you win it (and by that score), well, he is simply monstrous.
Sinner hits the ball well in advance and his ball trip at supersonic speed: even following him on the screen becomes tiring.
Sinner visibly improved in his serve (and also in his volleys and smashes).
As an Italian, frankly, I never expected such a clear divide.
Djoko did a bad match and Sinner did a incredible good one.
Sinner does with Djokovic what federer often could not. Dominating the rallies with more consistency and depth.
Stop crying, grow up.
@@unsertrefflicher4678 What? And what the fuck does that have to do with it? Are you normal? 😂😂😂
Prime Djokovic eats him alive. Still, great game from Sinner.
As an Italian you don't know how proud of him I am! Beating Nole 3-1, that's not easy at all. Let's get it 🇮🇹
3-1 is also his stats with Nole in the last 4 matches with Nole (overall it is 3-4 as 3 first ones Nole won).

Well done Jannik, stood up to Novak brilliantly. Deserved to win and hopefully wins the trophy 🏆🎾🇮🇹
I have seen a lot of fans making excuses for Djokovic elsewhere (the scheduling, the sun, made a lot of unforced errors....). Truth is: Djokovic simply wasn't prepared for this level, I have said it earlier in the tournament: the Mannarino match meant nothing. He wasn't prepared to face returns like Sinner can (Sinner is with Medvedev and Djokovic the best returner on tour currently, look up the stats). Djokovic got some practice against Fritz in facing big serves, but Fritz isn't nearly as good as Sinner. Meanwhile Sinner had to face Kachanov (serve) and Rublev and already was in a higher gear. If they face again, Djokovic can win again (or lose), but todat was about which gear they were at. Btw, a lot of 'unforced erros' are forced in some way...
Finally a smart comment
Well, look at the score...if he lost that bad it's because he was off
unforced erro's are forced in some way, agree but come on don't act like Novak didn't play badly
54 unforced errors, many were not provoked by the italian, that's way too many
Perhaps it’s a simple combination of age finally catching up with the great man, and drastic improvements to Sinner’s all round game
@@mickaellandry9726 Just rewatch the match and you can see Djokovic actually played a lot of good points, also points which he lost but Sinner pushed him with power, precision, returning, getting extra balls back. It's what I said in my comment: Sinner was in a higher gear. A gear Djokovic has showed so many times in his career. So yes, in that way Djokovic played badly > badly compared to Sinner, but Djokovic would have won against neigh on every other player on tour. The margins by which Djokovic won in recent years are so slim, last year he had a 90% win on tie-breaks which is absurd. Everyone who understands tennis a little knows it is already about very slim margins at the top, being 0,1% less for Djokovic on a day just results in a loss also for him.
Total domination by Sinner. Novak looked discombobulated the whole match
Novak didn't play badly, Sinner was simply invincible today, when he already beat Novak, I would like him to win in the final as well, if he plays like this, he certainly will.
He played far off his best. I'm not great fan but he was clearly off today
By the end of the match, Djokovic had struck *54 unforced errors* , almost twice the amount of Sinner. He won just 67% of first serve points and 25% of return points.
And you really said ''Novak didn't play badly''?
@@mickaellandry9726 because his opponent played better than him.
Djokovic lost for a reason - Sinner made him lose….. time to dare to admit it 😊
@mr.renovator4859 it's not win/lose. The way he lost was clearly a sign that he was off today. One of the worst loss in his career
Finally Djokovic found someone Who played like him
Well, he lost the other two that played better, when they were younger. Circle of life. I've just watched Sampras versus Federer in 2001 Wimbledon.
Mamma mia... che gli ha combinato...
Wow...

Man I’ve been a fan of Djokovic for the last 10 or so years, truly the GOAT, but seeing how much Sinner is improving his game is extremely satisfying, big fan of his also. He’s identified all his weaknesses and worked tirelessly on them, and it shows. His ball hitting is also something to behold. So powerful and accurate, both forehand and backhand. The fact Novak missed a lot isn’t only a “bad day” factor . It comes from Sinner’s strength first of all . The Serbian never had any simple ball to play, he had to do extra work every single point, sinner left him really nothin on the court . So that’s it , maybe we can start talking about the end of an era , maybe not , but definetly in the last few months something has changed in the tennis circuit . Well done jannick you’re a beauty to watch in and outside the court

Respect for both players!
Siiiinnneeerrr!!!!! He never dropped his level throughout the match! What a smart and quality tennis it was. C'mon Jannik!
In Italy we have been waiting for a player like this for decades. No, since always.
The last 20 years, in particular, have been really poor with satisfactions.
At the beginning of 2019 I decided to watch one of Gianluigi Quinzi's last matches (for some time this guy seemed to be really promising), a quarter-final of the Bergamo Challenger, hoping for a final comeback.
Well, on the other side of the court there was this skinny 17 years kid who I had heard about as a talent but had never seen play before. I couldn't believe what I saw, he literally made holes in the court.
The growth has been quite gradual (more then Alcaraz, just to say), and surely he still to improve phisically and on slower surfaces, but since at least 6 months we can finally say: WE GOT OUR TOP PLAYER.

Jannik Sinner is one of the competitors who carried out the revolution in the men tennis by overpowering 10-time champion Novak Djokovic. He has basically demonstrated a more valiant, intrepid and relentless performance than Djokovic, not showing any break point and solely dropping one set along the whole tourney. The mobility and compliance of Sinner definitely advanced in accordance with the previous periods. He keeps inspiring all tennis aficionados and fans with his development.
If Sinner won the tournament with this quality of game, he will be the most deserved one, and no one can say otherwise
He won 3 out of 4 matches with Nova in a few months, unbeaten sets but the one with the n1 in the world.
Sinner is not n4 in ranking, he is the 1st now
I agree that he is currently the best player, what he has shown in the last couple of months is fantastic, but in order to be number one, he must play continuously for at least 1-2 years. Continuity is what makes a good player. We have a good saying for that: "One swallow does not make a spring".
There's only one undisputed number 1. People like you were saying the same with Alcaraz after Wimbledon

Sinner's swerving forehand were a nightmare for Novak today. Fantastic win for Sinner!
Jannik delivered a severe lesson to the undisputed tennis champion (for now). He defeated him decisively on the tennis court, though there will be moments when the old champion may have a chance to redeem himself. However, Jannik is a champion in other aspects where the old champion can never win or recover: he has never insulted referees, never smashed rackets, never used restroom breaks to weaken the opponent and sway the match in his favor, never mocked the audience, never used the crowd against the opponent, and never dared to do things that a man (beyond being a tennis player) should do to be an example. I believe Jannik has clearly won off the court without the old champion ever having a chance of recovery

Well Novak would have to win a major at 37 now, which would be very impressive. The only place I see it happening is Wimbledon, which is easier on the body, or possibly the French, as Novak tends to be so superior to the rest of the tour on clay, a fact that only Nadal helped disguise.
