      The betting sites had Sinner as a huge favourite surprisingly, the payouts were like 1.3:1 for Sinner and 3.5:1 for Medvedev, even though in my opinion Sinner was just a very slight favourite (he beat badly playing Djokovic which doesnt say much, well playing Djokovic would smash Sinner in 3 sets, and it is Sinner's first grandslam final so nerves could have played a huge role, Medvedev is more experienced in this regard). I was very tempted to bet on Medvedev just for the decent chance to more than tripple my money, luckily I didnt because Medvedev made the same mistake again and lost the title being 2 sets up. But you can see that those winning odds on betting sites were just ridiculous, those two tennis players are equally as good and only details decided the winner in the end.

      @user-ys7hv8zf4d Před 3 měsíci +8

      @@niklFIT I think the whole point is that Daniil spent 6.5 hours more during the tournament, this is a very big handicap and defeating the well-playing Sinner is problematic, that’s why Medvedev forced it in the first two sets, he could only win in a short match. Therefore, the rates were appropriate.

      @@jonascederholm5981He didn't play his best at the previous rounds especially on his serve. He played three 5 set matches without a reason. @jonascederholm5981 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@user-hy9vq3hs3w Yeah the turnaround in the third set was pretty obvious and he even admitted after the match that he got tired. Kudos for Sinner to take advantage and continue to play aggressively. I don't think that the 5-set matches should be a major issue though, he is only 27 years old and should be able to cope physically. Federer played three tough 5-set matches in 2017 and still won the title, and he was almost 10 years older (36) than Daniil.

    Beaucoup de choses m'ont impressionné dans le succès de Jannik Sinner mais ce que je retiens avant tout, c'est qu'il n'a jamais paniqué. C'est très fort de la part d'un jeune joueur qui jouait sa première finale en Grand Chelem et qui s'est rapidement retrouvé mené deux sets à zéro. Je ne suis pas sûr d'avoir déjà vu pareil exploit de la part d'un gars de 22 ans. Maximum respect.
    Il a su trouver les solutions pour contrer un Medvedev qui jouait de manière totalement inattendue, comme je ne l'avais jamais vu jouer auparavant. Sinner non plus, j'imagine ! Mais il a su renverser le match, en partie en modifiant ses options tactiques de départ. En retour, il s'est un peu reculé
    Bravo à lui, victoire et trophée bien mérités 👍🎾🏆💌

    Medvedev showed up very strong and determined, while Sinner was both a bit surprised and nervous. Then the extra hours played earlier in the tournament began to be felt by Medvedev, while Sinner started gaining back his confiance and the eyes of tiger. That doesn't take away any credit from Sinner, who deserved this physical advantage with a perfect tournament.

      There's a reason they can't show their flag. No-one blames the Russian athletes, but if your country has invaded a neighbour for no reason and thousands of people have been killed as a result, not showing the flag is the least of the punishments the people in charge of the tournament could enforce. There's a reasonable argument to be made that none of the Russian athletes should even be allowed to play in the tournament at all.
