- This is the second video showing the progress on the second station on the layout, "Castle Halt", incorporating a Castle, station and picnic area. Thank you to all those who commented about what I should put there, I have listened to your suggestions and I hope you like what I have done. I would love to hear your views, both positive and negative so please leave a comment below.

Hi Steve the lighting on the castle looks fantastic, then seeing the train run it may it better again. I think having another platform will make that station even better. Colin
Thanks Colin - I am working on that second platform now, and just trying to work out how to blend it in with the hillside falling down to the road and canal - as always I will potter about until I get some form of idea.

Hi Steve, well done, that looks a cracking diorama. Really good use of the Metcalfe pavilion for a cafe and the gardens look really nice too!.
The lighting finishes the castle off for the night time scene, it’s all good stuff, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching you build it.

Thanks John, always good to think out of the box as it were. I saw an 00 scale one on my friends layout (he has it as a cricket pitch) and had a light bulb moment!

Hi Steve, brilliant work on the castle section the lights look incredible. I like the use of the cricket pavilion as a cafe I hadn’t thought about that and it looks like it would suit that role well. Lovely running session it’s always great to see them going around. Nat 👍🚂
Cheers Nat - they will look better once I have done the other platform and the rest of the scenery - that's my next job so now am trying to ponder how to go about that!

The idea of using the cricket pavilion as a cafe is great, and the castle area has come along very nicely.

Thanks Bob, but bear in mind most of the castle was built for the first version of the layout so I was able to re use it and just added on extra walls and turrets. The weather has helped as well as its too damn wet to do anything else than build stuff!

That all looks great Steve. I like the repurposing of the cricket pavilion and the scene there with the ice cream van really looks right. The lighting of the castle wall looks great. Some lovely running shots. I particularly liked where the two trains crossed by the station. It's all coming together nicely. Stephen
Thank you Stephen - when I first had the rough idea of this layout I had hoped that the shot would prove effective and it does in my opinion. Hopefully after adding the other platform and scenery it will get even better!

Hi Steve! You've done some great work here! Love how you've repurposed the cricket pavillion! The castle lighting looks great, but I'd definitely be tempted to add more lights! It'll be interesting to see how you approach the job of adding a second platform to the castle stop! Looking forward to the next update already! All the best, Ian.
Thanks Ian - several people have said to add more lights so I may just do that - depends on how difficult it may turn out to be. I am already working on the second platform and trying to incorporate two bridges as well. Just waiting on some deliveries to arrive.

Hi Les - yes that's on the plans to do but like the numpty I am I built the tower and forgot to add in the lights so will need to buy a new one and re build it - if i try and break into the existing one I will probably wreck it! Thanks for the comment, much appreciate it.

Nice update and development of your layout. Great that you are thinking of lighting as you go something I failed to do lol. The castle is looking really great and the lighting is spectacular.
Thank you so much Tony - I spent a long time just watching other channels before starting to build my layout and worked out that lighting had to be done as you went along. I have subscribed to your channel as you have some excellent tips and strategies for scenics - very impressive.

The castle area is looking great, Steve. We used to have our castle lit up at night, I like the cafe idea, will it sell souvenirs as well, or will you have a separate souvenir shop.We have a custard factory on Dylington, so your cafe really needs to sell Dylington Custard, or at least a sign advertising it 😂. Have you seen the Dylington Custard ghost sign on our water tower, it's made by Scale Model Scenery. Great video Steve....cheers James 🙂👍
Now I must check in and see this custard factory and most definitely the cafe will have to stock such a delightful product to use on the apple pies! I shall have a word with the station master's wife who runs it.
