    Running the 880 for 4 years now and just bought me the v14. Great shoe for my feet.
    I tried the 1080 but I really didn't like how my ankle was not really supported and I moved a lot left and right. The 1080 is much bouncier though :D
    Imo for people that have it hard to find a wide enough shoe for their feet the 880 is worth a try. I can't fit in Adidas or Nike running shoes.

      rn i keep rotating between 880v14 and 1080v13. i agree the ankle and weight distribution sometimes became unstable.

    Firm enough to build foot strength and run sprints, but cushioned enough to protect joints and be a nice daily runner

    The heavy duty rugged thick outsole is gone! Thats one of the reasons I loved this shoe model. I could take it on road or trails and had good traction, plus the outsole would last 300/400/miles your miles may vary!

    Love my 880s. I still have a V12 I'm using, yeah I haven't been running that much 🙂. They are great for orthotics, I use orthotics for everything now.

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Nice to hear you still like your v12s. If you ever want to try a shoe without needing orthotics, we recommend checking out the 860 and the Vongo. They are New Balance's stability trainers that provide extra arch support similar to an orthotic. The 860 will be more in line with your 880s. The Vongo has a little bit more cushion.

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  Před 9 dny +1

      The 880 is what we call a "neutral" shoe. The way you normally walk or run is the way you will walk or run in this shoe. The 860 is a "stability" shoe. If you feel you overpronate (run/walk on the inside of your foot) the 860 is for you. It features New Balances "Stability Plane" to help provide support for your arch.

      Update; they also have a wide version which is wide enough for my bunion AND still does not slip. It fits perfectly even though I really only need width in the forefoot. The Nb 1080 v13 wide versuon was still too narrow and too low volume in the forefoot for me. (Womens wide, size 9 in both)

  • @Bestdayever22

    How is the height on the ankle? I’ve tried a few other shoes lately and the ankle height comes up too high with even some including the NB SuperComp Trainer came up to the middle of my ankle bone😓

      The damn "max cushion shoe trend in full force". I hate these max cushioned marshmallow feel shoes. For me the 880 V12 and V13 were perfect. I used to run in the NB 990 series, so the firm/soft feel is what I want!

    I’m just getting into running and with my wide feet, I have in hand a pair of Fresh Foam X880v14 2E and a pair of Brooks Ghost Max 2E. Both are so comfortable! I’m just not sure which one to keep, which one is right for me. I took the Brooks for a run, but the NB return policy doesn’t allow me to do the same..

    • @djlewisgold
      @djlewisgold Před 4 měsíci +1

      just walk in your home with both, and feel the difference, both are fine, it depends in each one

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  Před 4 měsíci +1

      They are both great options. The 880v14 has slightly less cushion and is lighter. It is also cut like a more traditional running shoe. The Ghost Max has a taller stack height, more cushion, and a rocker geometry which helps the heel-to-toe transition when you run/walk. The Ghost Max is Brooks' version of a Hoka shoe. Here at Run Moore, we prefer the 880v14 for running and the Ghost Max for everyday walking.

    • @COB506
      @COB506 Před 4 měsíci

      @@RunMoore I appreciate the reply. As it turns out, that’s exactly what I have decided to do. I kept both shoes, I walk with the Brooks and run with the NB. Both are great, but running in the NB feels more natural to me. The Brooks feels like I could walk forever and my feet would be happy and protected.

    Hola, saludos desde Uruguay. Excelente canal. Felicitaciones. Me podrías ayudar y decir las diferencias entre el NB 880 V14 y el NB Vongo 6? Muchas gracias!!! Que cosas me harían decidir por uno u otro ??

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  Před 6 měsíci

      Thanks for the kind words! The New Balance 880 v14 is a midweight cushion neutral trainer. The Vongo v6 is a maximum cushion stability trainer. I would choose the 880 if I were looking for a traditional everyday running shoe with no extra bells and whistles. I would pick the Vongo if I wanted more cushion and support for longer distances. Or if I wanted a comfortable everyday walking shoe.

    i dig my 880s, but my buddies have been telling me to try out the asics novablast 4. would you say the novablast 4 and the 880s are in the same category of do it all daily trainers?

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  Před 6 měsíci

      The Novablast 4 and 880v14 are in the same cushion category. However, the 880v14 is classified as a plush trainer, whereas the Novablast is in the fast-paced trainer category. Both will work great for you. The 880 will be more of the do-it-all shoe you're looking for. The Novablast will be great for your faster running days.

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  Před 6 měsíci

      We have found the new 880 v14 to run a pinch wider compared to the older v13. If you were in a standard width for the v13, you shouldn't need to go up to the 2E for the v14.

    Is this good for over pronation or 860 v13?

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  Před 5 měsíci

      The 860 is much better for overpronation thanks to the medial posting in the midsole that provides extra support.

    @io-rj6sk Před 6 měsíci +1

    these better than the 880v13?

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  Před 6 měsíci

      In our opinion, yes. We believe the 880v14 is miles ahead of the v13. The midsole foam feels more premium. It's now just one layer of foam instead of two different ones. The sizing fits much more true to size. There's so much stuff about the 880v14 that we love so much more than the v13.

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@io-rj6sk The 880v13 has the soft FreshFoam X in the heel and a dense version of FuelCell in the forefoot. It helps provide cushion for your heel while providing a springy toe-off. With the 880v14, they reengineered the foam to do that exact job without needing two layers.
