All because they don't rotate sets. Pokemon and Magic are still going strong because they do. If you don't rotate sets, then you have to continuously 1-up the previous stuff in order to keep the meta-game interesting, and then you come out with whatever the hell is going on with yugioh right now

Same goes for the Lava Golem he pulled at the beginning. That card went for $23 in mint condition, not worth the $100 he was claiming.

This is a big nostalgia video for me, these tins were something I was gifted in freshman year of high school.
It's made me want to go through the cards that I've held onto for years, sitting in old plastic hard boxes, or sleeved in old binders that may be older than some of your viewers. I still have one of those old black Yu-Gi-Oh binders that was 2x2 from almost 15 years ago sitting around that I remember as a gift from my mom when I first started playing and I told her I needed a binder for cards near my birthday / christmas (december birthdays suck hahah).

My first one was a super Rare Kuriboh from Metal Raiders in 2002. It got stolen from me in 2003 by a girl in my class. I found out about that a few weeks later and got it back from her but with a huge scratch on it because she just carried it in the pocket of her jeans. Still own the Kuriboh Card because the person who buyed me that pack died over 10 years ago and the card brings back memories.

WTH! I remeber getting the dark magician tin when they first came out, never cared for the DM girl back in the day. Can't believe the value in these now. I gave all my cards that I had collected that year in 4th grade to a good friend of mine he, couldnt believe I just gave him my collection. And so the collecting restarted again in 5th grade. Good times.
I really wish I would have known that all of these tens and decks and cards from these old sets would be worth so much money.....damn it young Slater!!!

I remember when I had several binders with every card from the first 6 sets....including all 1st edition cards from Blue Eyes White Dragon.
its so depressing looking at the values of them now isn't it lost out on thousands me because my mum threw all my cards away because she thought i had "outgrown" them

I remember being a bit annoyed at getting this tin at Christmas, as I wanted the black panther tin, wasn't that interested in dark magician girl, had a friend who really liked her so it traded it away, surprised its worth so much now.

Rin it is to a lot of people in the community especially in the collector’s circles. On the other hand the majority of people who play regularly just buy the singles of what they’re looking for because it is significantly cheaper.

Awesome pulls. Kind of Ironic the Rocket warrior tin had mostly Marik cards: Lava Golem, Newdoria, and Makurua the destructor. The last one was one of my favorite cards back in the day.

Uh oh... I actually have that DMG tin and the Kaiba tin, totally opened the moment I got them all those years ago and their cards spread throughout various decks and binders. I just got them for the pretty pictures.

OH MY GOD! I remember my Nana bought me this tin when I was a kid at Walmart! I gave most of my Yu-Gi-Oh! cards away as a kid...including the Dark Magician Girl to a kid when I had a garage sale like 10 years ago!

This is a surprise. This was my first tin in elementary school and i cherished my dark magician girl. Everyone who played in school wanted to trade for it but i never let it go. This kid would steal cards from the store and trade them for weed in 5th grade so i always had the craziest rares from getting massive amounts of cards from him.

Dark revelation and Dark begininings some of first packs to have possibility for more than one rare and above. Not factory error but cool.
I can't think back on how many boosters i opened back in the day. If i sold those old ones still sealed now... cant think about that!

I got this tin for my birthday back in 2005... so I must have been 13. I was hyped for it. I believe I got Gilford the Lightning's tin for Christmas. Still have the tins for both and Dark Magician Girl... lost Gilford the Lightning though. I do have Rocket Warrior though from trading with my best friend back then.

I bought this tin as a kid and it was one of the greatest days of my life! I treasured my special edition Dark Magician Girl until it was destroyed in the washing machine... Yeah, I wasn't very bright when I was younger... FUCK!

I love how my brother and I had these tins back on Yu-Gi-Oh first came out and we have no idea where the hell they are now. I would seriously store cards in those right now just to be able to flex on people.
Man remember back in the days of the old school packs, definitely brings back nostalgia thats for sure. My favorite era packs where the old schools one, when archetype and fusion type cards started to heat up and the Synchro stuff. Like I stop playing for like 8 years now, because the meta was getting ridiculous and I was getting too old for it. I now just have all my crads and decks in a Box and I just have them as collectables. The ones that I always like collecting the most were the Gradius type cards including the B.E.S. dudes. I'll always look at them because they came from one my favorite video games back in the 90s on the Super Nintendo being Gradius 3. My favorite deck type will always be the Gladiator Beast, I've always like Stall / Burn type decks too, and of course a Synchro deck was always fun too.
It's super used and not in great condition but I have this tin and most of its contents just chillin, loose in a box somewhere here in my apartment. I had no idea it was so rare or valuable.

Ibwas like 10 in 2005 and i still remember when i would see these packs and tins when the ic cream truck would pass through my block and i always felt bad because i couldent afford to buy them they would sell the the english packs for 5 dollars each but they would also sell the japanese packs for 3 dollars so i would buy the japanese packs because it would take me 3 days to save up for those packs from my allowence
So I was a 4th grade that would collect yugioh cards. I had card like BLS envoy (IOC), Dark Magician Girl 1st edition (MFC), Chaos Emperor Dragon (IOC), Dark Magician, Blues eyes started deck to name a few. I was a happy child. kept them in sleeves and what not. I was get so excited I would take them to school. I had them in a green deck box with green sleeves to make them match. I guess my luck ran out when I came back from recess one day to find them completely gone. The cards had a lot of sentimental value that never went away. Im 26 now and it still hurts when I think of my cards...

Dark revelation you can pretty much pull a rare or better in each slot ie: mobster, spell or trap. If you pull a rare in a trap slot you can still pull a super or better in the spell slot
Makyura got banned as soon as it came out. But back in the day, my friends and I were like, "if the card is made, its gonna be played!"
And to think that back then getting those tins was just like another day at the office lmao. I had all of them, my favorite was the Summoned Skull one.

Classic packs had foils as extra card. That's why you got the QUESTION. They had a token or something else stupid, OR A FOIL/Secret rare in addition to the regular cards.
and then theres me, remembering the best time of my life playing in those packs erra, playing at nationals, with the good old ranking system and being stoked for being ranked top20 in Canada, and now just lookin at how the game is just trash with all these OTK decks, 1st turn imma wombo combo you.

I know from experience you can definitely got both a rare and a foil card from those Dark Revelation and Beginning packs. Just because you get the rare doesn't count you out from a foil. Perhaps the pack you opened that had the golem may have been a error pack.
i remember having the rocket warrior tin when i was a kid. also had insect queen and shining flare wingman later on. wish i kept those cards in halfway decent shape lol
Around 5 years ago, I opened 1 DMG tin I bought on ebay for almost 100 dollars. Definitely worth it.
The problem was that seller was cheap enough not to protect his product. He used one of these USPS bag-looking package instead of a box. When I got the mail, I immediately did think this is not good. And I was right, tin came severely damaged. Most cards including DMG and packs were undamaged. Seller tried to deny any wrongdoing because shipping was free and refused to help. I opened my claim and easily won. I got refund and I got to keep the tin. Who treats vintage products like that?
These tins must be carefully treat it to keep high value and condition.

Nice pulls man. I have the cards from both of those tins and they are also coincidentally my two most heavily played singles. Rocket Warrior literally has a part of the card dissolved away and you can see the holofoil underneath shining through haha!

I miss this game. I used to have every card this guy pulled and, more. Traveling to Orlando for regionals and, going to sneak peaks. It's really sad how that this game aged so badly. Now it's all about buying up all the boosters as possible and, pulling an archetype that is spread throughout 2-3 sets to build a top tier deck that play it's self. The when Konami need to make more sales they ban limit key cards and, release a stronger archetype and, repeat the process till they have to change the rulings on cards or just straight up change how the game playes. It was still fun watching this video. I freaked out when j pulled my first mystic swordsman. It still remains to be one of my all time favorite cards.
I got the Dark Magician Girl, (still 10/10) and in the bosters I don't remember something good, but in that days, to have a DM girl was hard, I am surprise she is that value

I should probably get my Magician Girl graded. It went from the tin to sleeve/top loader then forgotten about (I quit yugioh for a bit). It hasn't been touched since.

I had a lot of memories opening the Blues Eyes set when yugioh first came out i had almost the entire set before a lot of my cards started to get stolen but it was fun remembering opening all the packs and watching you open these.

Epic video man, it got me thinking about the first tins I got when I was a kid and I believe it was the Buster Blade and Jinzo tins for my Birthday at Toys"R"Us. I remember opening them in the car on our way back home and pulling a Destiny Board in one of my packs ^^ Can't for the life of me remember what else I pulled, but the Buster Blade and Jinzo already made me happy :P
