I think it’s balanced for both. Ramtasms branch looks cute in a way but there’s no way Zombleat and it’s evolution are cute. Just like how Gumbaal looks goofy as compared to the edgier Miasmodeous
Ramtasm is absolutely my favorite of all the starter remasters and I'm so glad to be playing with him. Mine has a Clobber sticker with a +1 Extra Hit, making it hit 3 times for a power of 180 on a single target. Using this and the fact that Astral gets bonus AP when it hits an air/earth/water/fire type, Ramtasm BODIES everything in its path. It gets even more absurd when it fuses lol.
Ramtasm is also my favorite, in both design and use. Shear Luck has definitely saved me a few times, along with nurse. Mine is more a mixed attacker/support build; Smack, Bite, Magic Tome, Nurse, Astral Wall (with a 34% chance to put up a wall for your partner), Shear Luck, Insomnia, and AP starter. Definitely the primary mage on my team
Seeing these, I'm glad I went the path I took (Bansheep's astral line). Candevil's poison line looks cool too though. Going to need to find one in game so I can see their fusion.
I dig the attention to detail when it comes to the branching paths of the two starters. With my fav having to be the steel line for Candevil, seeing as how it turns into a candy machine you would see in a mall that has the gumball wind down a spiral track.
Hey, really happy because I got 2 bootlegs yesterday ! A second traficrab that I evolved to its other line and a squirey also the same as you got Ed ! So now I have 4 with the trafi code one and the gift one in the west of the city ! Edit: 2 more for a full team ! living the bootleg dream :D
Capricorpse is my absolute favorite. It's a defensive powerhouse that shrugs off all but the strongest attacks like they're nothing. Plus it has pretty chunky melee attack too. That pairs well with its rather excellent Plant and Steel coverage that allows it to smack almost anything's weakness. Pair it with any status user or physical attacker and you can make some absolutely monstrous fusions. Personal favorite fusion partners for it are with Mardiusa or Liligator.
Bansheep and it's evolutions look really cool, but I'm glad I chose Candevil and Alchemy upon evolving it, because I'm loving that final Alchemy form. Thanks for showcasing, now I know I made the right choices.

I'm rocking a Bamtasm with a stall based movest, Nurse + Astral Wall + Ritual stickers + Breathing Technique Passive to have a better chance of the stall not working, then a few misc attacking stickers. Works like a charm vs Archangels and other boss-esche encounters
For first time players, just go for whatever looks good to you. For people that are asking about the different types and things. I find astral types kinda annoying to handle because of AP down debuff you get from plastic, poison and steel, which makes you unable to make much moves. I dont have much experience with ground type but its relatively a less common typing beast. For poison and metal, they dun have too big of a disadvantage so they are actually quite decent choice. Then there are melee or range type. Generally speaking, range is almost always better than melee because there are plenty of buff/debuff that damage or disable the attacker using melee moves and range have no problem with that. Though you need to take into account that there are alot of good moves set for melee type. Also, you can purchase as many starters as you like post game, with fuse materials which are what you would farm alot for post game.

Okay I'm definitely going to start making some fan-made beast because unlike other stuff I didn't have to write it like it's a Pokemon or other creature catching games I can write it as if it was animal oh and I'm hella choosing the candy one and then using its steel past cuz God that one is just goofy and I love it on top of that I'm excited when maybe in a couple years one we can have stuff like sao that type of technology it would be so fun to actually play the game but the characters are real I'm just not even going to explain it if you know what I sao you get what I'm saying
While I absolutely love Candevil and its evolutions, I'm kinda wishing I've went with Bansheep as I've noticed a distinct lack of Astral-types during my playtime. I'm sure there's more that I haven't seen, but the only one I've seen so far is Stardigrade.
candevil is easily the best little guy in the game, too bad only malchemy really measures up to the design. miasmodeus is very close to being a hit, but something about it just rubs me the wrong way. ramtasm is pretty cool, but basically nothing else in that line is interesting.
The lack of transparancy with the starters is the only thing that is a really major design flaw in the game... It doesn't actually tell you what your starter will be and it doesn't show you what the "master" (evolution) options actually will be... And you can't really redo that untill much much much later in the game. That's bad... Otherwise I am loving the game a lot. I usually want to avoid starters anyway to get a sense of uniqueness

Funny enough, imo Bansheep and their lines have a much more cute/sweat aesthetic, while Candevil and their lines has a much more cool/edgy aesthetic.

I pair my Capricorpse with a Huntorch. Cap taunts and bites while Hunt poisons, burns, and heals. Capricorpse has gotten me through some tough fights.

I love the whole Candevil line. It's mix of spooky and goofy and reminds me of Fairy type Pokemon, which is my favorite type.
would love it if in a future game, they kept the Spooky/Sweet choice but added like Sour or Spicy haha
