  • What does the Bible say about women preachers?

Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. (1 Timothy 2:11-14)
Some Bible believers may shrug off Paul’s command, contending this only represented his opinion or the norms of his 1st century culture. However, please notice that this command was not rooted in Paul’s culture; rather, the inspired reason sprang from the order established by two universal facts: the creation and the fall of man! The God-defined roles of men and women are therefore transcendent and apply to all of Adam and Eve’s descendants as far as the consequences of Adam and Eve’s sin have spread (Genesis 3:16, 20). Furthermore, Paul gave similar instruction to the Corinthian women to not speak out during the assembly:
Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church. Or did the word of God come originally from you? Or was it you only that it reached? If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord. (1 Corinthians 14:34-37)
Paul equates these statements to the “commandments of God” which all spiritual people are to “acknowledge” (1 Corinthians 14:37). Likewise, the qualifications of both elders and deacons restrict the offices to that of men (1 Timothy 3:1-12; Titus 1:5-9). How can we dismiss these commands without questioning Paul’s apostleship, doubting the inerrancy of Scripture, and rebelling against God, since they proceeded by inspiration from Him and are preserved by Him (1 Peter 1:23-35)? If one is unwilling to trust Paul on these topics, how can he trust what Paul says about heaven, the resurrection, justification, grace, faith, or any other topic without becoming a “judge of the Law” (James 4:11-12)?
Some may ask, “Does the woman’s absence from public leadership reduce her impact?” No, men and women are interdependent (1 Corinthians 11:8-12). Mothers shape generations to come (Acts 16:1-2; 2 Timothy 1:5). Older women are to teach younger women (Titus 2:3-5). And, all women can fill a cold void with a warmth, kindness, and love through their tenderness, charity, and good works that cannot otherwise be replaced (Acts 9:36-41; Proverbs 31:10-30).
Would you like to be part of a sanctified people, whose moral, spiritual, and doctrinal beliefs are anchored in the rock of God’s Word? The opinions of men and institutions shift with the changing pressures of our day, but as for us, “We ought to obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29). Will you build your life on God’s firm foundation with us (Matthew 7:21-29)?

the biggest disunion in the home is the man as well as in the church for they don't know how to rule. The bible says he that ruleth over men must be just and rule in the fear of the Lord. So many rule in the flesh!! ruling in the flesh is going by your own thoughts and not led by the Holy Ghost.

Lots of hermeneutics and archeology goes into this, and most of the egalitarians lean hard on the context of heresy that tends to be addressed in all the Pauline epistles. Often what's being discussed is thought to be a local thing, often specifically worded to the kind of heresy present in the congregation in question. It's mostly above my knowledge (I'm not a scholar on heresy at all, but mostly it was stuff where women were overly domineering towards men) but definitely worth looking into if you want to see an egalitarian argument made.
Of course there's the proof-text of Phoebe the female deacon, but definitely it needs more than a single proof-text to be accepted!

Whereas other denominations may agree with him because of the teaching they sit under.I wonder when you make a statement that says "...soooo not true" where did you study theology? Are you a scholar of the Word? Now, I'm not saying that I agree with him either. I must do further study into what he has said and reason from Scripture my doctrine on this issue. The Ten Commandments, which included Sabbath keeping, was done away with. (Romans 7:4-6) “Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another - to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God. For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death. But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.” Verse 7 reveals the law he was referring to was the Law of Moses. “What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, You shall not covet.” ( Exodus 20:17) “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

There is not one single example of a woman leading worship in the Bible.
I believe the Bible is very clear that a woman should not be in a position of authority over men. If a woman serves in any role in the worship she would be placing herself in a position of authority over any man present.

I think we men feel greatly embarrassed if our women just keep talking in church and disturb the meetings. Women tend to voice their opinions in any occasions, because they have a need to be heard. However, Paul talked about the order, an order that have been instituted for thousands of years, and it would be bad if that is broken. That's why he said, 'women should be silent....according to the Law.
In 1 Timothy 2:12, Paul said, 'I do not permit a woman to teach.....' Paul said 'I'. My question is when does Paul's command become the Lord's command? But regarding 1 Corinthians 7:6-16, regarding being single, he said that very clearly that it was his charge and not Lord's command on that issue. So, he said, '...I wish...I say...I give this charge....I...I....'
It (it's I, not the Lord's) is not mentioned in 1 Timothy. But does Paul's 'I' equal Lord's command? Please let me know.

The difference is the word Usurp means to seize and hold a position, office or power to use without authority by force and without legal right. See how these NLT. takes away from the scriptures. The 13th and 14th verse of 1Timothy 2:12 explains why. The women Pastors, Bishops, preachers, Evangelists, Elders, are transgressing the word of God by doing this. They even have women Apostles now; and you can't tell them that God did not call them to preach, get ready for a big argument.

  • @greatdeceptionsoftheendtim9497

Did you read all of chapter 14 or are you taking verses 34 and 35 out of context. There are 39 verses in this chapter and you take the one who may have been added later to this letter and were never written by Paul. The reason for that is that they contradict everything Paul wrote before and even after. Here are the verses
26 What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up. 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two-or at the most three-should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. 28 If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and to God.
29 Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said. 30 And if a revelation comes to someone who is sitting down, the first speaker should stop. 31 For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged. 32 The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets. 33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace-as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people. 34 Women[f] should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.[g]
36 Or did the word of God originate with you? Or are you the only people it has reached? 37 If anyone thinks they are a prophet or otherwise gifted by the Spirit, let them acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord’s command. 38 But if anyone ignores this, they will themselves be ignored.[h]
39 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. 40 But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.
Can you see the contradiction? So which one are correct? I will go with all of them except 34 and 35. Thy do not belong there. Also if you have done your research tell me what law did the writer talk about and were is it written that it is shameful for a women to speak in the church. Also do you conduct your assembly of believers or church as Paul instructed in this chapter?

Can not a women testify, the things the Lord has done for her? Isnt her womb, the womb blessed with the babies of the Lord? Isnt she giving birth to the Kings, Queens, Prophets and sons of God? Why not She speaks when Christ swore by his own name, all he has done was for his Bride to come....? Did not John speak about the Elected lady of Truth and everyone who ever loves truth, loves her and her Children? Didn't the lord speak on a Queen during the end times, that is wiser than Solomon? Is the New City adorn like a Bride? A woman shouldn't be an old loud mouth , babbling bs ...but if that women is prasing the Lord, where is her fault.......??????? This is an offensive topic. Many pastors are too chicken to bring this up. The spirit of jezebel aka feminism has infiltrated the church a long time ago but today with 3rd wave feminism having a tougher more evil stand, things are worse. Many if not most of these feminist women say: men are not men masculine enough today." I say: "that's not an excuse to exercise authority over the man in the church and home." Women pastoring churches is not biblical and there's not one verse in the bible talking about women leading congregations. Yes women have done amazing things in the Bible, I will admit that. but preaching in churches is not a woman's role, that's a. Man's role.

This Brother in the Lord speaks the truth for the scriptures do teach these truths and even More so 1 Timothy 3:1-7 3 The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. 2 Therefore an overseer[a] must be above reproach, the husband of one wife,[b] sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, 5 for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church? 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil. 1 Peter 3:1-6 - Likewise, ye wives, [be] in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; (Read More...) 1 Timothy 3:2 - A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; so you can see this scripture conferm what the paster says . the first part of timothy is speaking to men who want to become pasters. then Paul says now to the wives respect and obeys your husband. point is apostle paul was first speaking to men and not to women when speaking about becoming a pastor or preacher and after speaking to the men he turns to the woman and says now you woman I am speaking to you. obey your husband's emphasis is not on obey but who paul is now speaking to. please read the vers and your understanding bay Gods grace will be opened.

After years and I do mean "Years" of going God opened up my eyes and I started doing my own research and instead of believing what I was being "Preached to" I clearly saw that a Woman isn't supposed to Preach!. I brought this and other things I saw that was correct in the Church and she quickly disclaimed me and we no longer have the relationship that we had. I thought about going back into the world but Yahweh told me how much he loved me and not to follow my mother instead Pray for her and the rest of my family members that still attend that Church and with Faith and Supplication Yahweh will open their Spiritual eyes also!.🙂. I do believe that demons can and attack people because it happened to me while I was serving in the United States Army and it wasn't until I called on "Jesus Christ" that the demon fled. That was in 2004 before I found out his "Real Name" which in Hebrew is Yeshua ❤🕊!. The reason a woman is to be in silence, is because @the Garden of Eden, thru Eve, a spirit of adultery, was birthed.
The woman became subjective to Satan. She became head over Adam, as Adam ate from the woman's hand.
This mean's that men were put back in order, over the woman, when JESUS put it back in order, on the cross.
The spirit that is in woman that wants to preach, is using the same spirit, as the one birthed thru Eve, thru adultery.
This means that we are to follow the order that GOD made from the beginning, by not having woman preach over man.

Can that faith save him? 15If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, 16and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? 17Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.
18But someone may well say, “You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” 19You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. 20But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless? 21Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? 22You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected; 23and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “AND ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS,” and he was called the friend of God. 24You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25In the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? 26For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead"

I think I will settle this for everyone. 1 Corinthians 14 is correct. You cannot use the fact that women preached in the bible to refute Paul's teaching. The reason you cannot use past women preachers is because even though there is a historical record in the bible of women preachers/teachers/pastors does not mean it was allowed/lawful/obedient according to the law. That is like stating there are murderers mentioned in the bible so it is okay to murder so we should ignore the ten commandments! One is a historical record/fact and the other is a commandment/law. Two entirely different things.

GOD DID NOT GIVE NO COMMAND to the church, PAUL gave INSTRUCTIONS to the church in his day. HE specifically said "I (Paul) do not suffer a woman to teach". HE PAUL not GOD. Paul bases his position on what God said to Eve in the Garden. Now as I explained on a number of sites discussing this same topic ,in the beginning God made both MALE and FEMALE human beings in HIS likeness and Image. BOTH male and female were called MAN. In response to Eve's part in eating of the forbidden fruit, God decreed that "....and thy desire shall be to thy husband and HE SHALL RULE OVER YOU.
Now every thing God spoke against ADAM, EVE and the serpent DID NOT EXIST BEFORE! What he decreed against them was a result of THEIR ACTIONS against him. From this we can determine that 1. God created both male and female equal 2. Neither had rule over the other. 3 What was decreed was never what GOD intended from the beginning. If we read the creation properly that is with a sense of hermeneutics we will understand that God saying that something SHALL happen is not the same as saying what SHOULD happen as in the sense of right or wrong.
So the bible for the most part is written with women in a subjugated role and treated as such. It DOES NOT MEAN that this is what GOD desired or ORDAINED things to be. It was the PENALTY Eve brought on herself and all women to come just as God did not desired for us to DIE but because of ADAM death passed on us all.
In her book entitled THE GOSPEL CENTERED WOMAN Wendy Alsup advises the reader when quoting the Apostle Paul to not to confuse instruction with LAW. This is what MANY people yourself including do. You and many others have taken Paul's writings and made them LAW but the thing is you all have conveniently taken what you want and discard others on what basis I am yet to understand. The thing is in some instances you all want to explain what Paul meant using CONTEXT but in other instances NO CONTEXT is used. WHAT HYPOCRISY!! This is why Christendom is in the MESS it is in, every denomination have THEIR BELIEFs on varying topics, ALL QUOTING SCRIPTUREs, ALL of them led by supposed 'MEN OF GOD',
You all seem to forget that PAUL was a MAN OF GOD but NOT GOD. He gave instructions to the church then as how HE felt it should be but GOD who did not DISCRIMINATE when he sent his SPIRIT and gave spiritual gifts to ALL MEN -including women- did not make no such law. Even if we want to stretch to say that Paul was 'inspired' by the Holy Spirit when he gave these instructions he did not say was not to have authority over A man but THE man -her husband, the same MAN she should go and ask questions of when she is at home. God also did not say to EVE that just ANY man will have rule over her but HER HUSBAND."....and thy desire shall be to THY HUSBAND and HE shall have rule over you.
I thank GOD that he has endowed me with HIS SPIRIT who -if I let him- will lead me into ALL TRUTH and did not leave me to the likes of you and much of the commenters here to do for it surely would be a case of blind leading the blind and I don't have to tell you where they both will end up.
So called 'men of God' need to stop USURPING the authority of the HOLY SPIRIT as the MAIN TEACHER in the members' lives and the members need to STOP it from CONTINUING to happen in their lives. let GOD BE TRUE and EVERY MAN A LIAR!

Read Romans16:1-5 on how paul constantly is thanking women...thats not silent huh.
Dont compare 1corinthians14:34-35 by skipping verse 31 "ALL MAY PROPHESY". And Dont skip 1Corinthians1:10 "Let there be no divisons among you". Now lets read it this way...
*1Corinthians1:10" Let there be no divisions among you"
*1Cor11:5 "If it be shameful for a WOMAN TO PRAY AND PROPHECY with her hair uncovered. *1Cor14:31,33-36 "All may prophesy together. Here comes paul's sense of humor to correct them --> "Ok church, let your women keep silence in the church for "the law" says so. Let them ask their husbands at home for any questions. Becuz it is soo shameful for women to speak"....V36= Really church? Did the word of God come for you to speak only brothers?
Now look at it that way cuz he just said women can speak. Who in the church said women cant speak? Answer: THE MEN.
If women had to be silent, why would he tell the church not to have divisions then? And you say they should ask their husbands....but in 1Corinthians7 he says for women to remain single if they want to. All of the women in the corinthian church are not married so what husband would they have???

The bible is clear and makes a distinction between a woman preaching during the assembly versus a woman singing and talking.

    • @johns8876
      @johns8876 Před 9 lety +1

There is no verse in the bible that says how women cannot preach during an assembly unfortunetely. The book of Corinthians was a church adapting to jewish traditions who apostle paul was quoting and correcting their wrong errors. Women were in ministry of the church, Luke2:36-38 and Romans16:1-7 is an example and it did not show them singing here.
      The Corinthian church Errors are.....
      - Women wearing headcoverings
      - Women remaining quiet in church
      - Men being the image of God, ad not women
      - The ressurrection did not happen.

John S If Im understanding you correctly, the thrust of your argument is that if the bible doesn't specifically say that something is not prohibited therefore it is permissible? My friend a commandment is inclusive and exclusive.

Men like to misuse these verses in their attempt to shut down a woman.
They also misuse first Timothy chapter 2 verses 11 and 12. "Let the woman learn in
silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach nor to usurp authority over the man but to be in silence." Now just who is "the man?" Let's compare scripture. Ephesians 5:22-23: "Wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands as unto the Lord for the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ as the head of the church." So the man in first Timothy chapter 2, the one that the woman is not to usurp authority over, is her husband. This is not speaking of men in general.
And the next verse says, "Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands. In everything wives be subject to your husbands in everything." Everything would include God's Word, would it not? So that leaves out your pastor. That leaves out the know-it-all man on Facebook. The one who gets all twisted up when he runs into a woman educated in the scriptures.
They'll then pull the usurping card and start telling her she's not to usurp her authority over a man. The man being them of course. Well, you're not the man Paul is speaking of. Colossians 3:18 "Wives submit yourselves until your..." AHA there it is again "...your own husbands..." It does not say other men. It says "your own husbands."
Wives are not to submit themselves to any other man other than their husbands. Hey, if it's only your husband you're to submit to, then it's only your husband you're not to usurp authority over. In Titus 2:5, Paul tells the women to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their..." and there it is again, "...your own husbands"
And this is not a dispensational teaching. The same held true for those that were Romans 16:7 in Christ before Paul. In 1 Peter 3:1, Peter tells his audience "Wives, be in subjection to your own husbands." It's not about married women being in subjection to just any man. It's your own husband. Colossians 3:18 "Wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands." 2 Timothy 3:6 "For of this
sort are they which creep into houses and lead captive silly women laden with
sins led away with divers lusts," Notice he says, "...led away..."
Who are the women who allow themselves to be led away? Those who refuse to submit to their husband. A woman is not to submit to any other man other than her husband. While these scriptures are clear, there are some women who've been beat over the head by these verses for so long that that they actually believe they haven't got a voice to speak up during a biblical conversation if a man is present.
Healthy discussions around God's Word should always encourage dialogue, not monologue. This misuse of Scripture is the result of not testing what the preacher says against God's infallible Word. Some have sat and listened to these verses out of context for so long, they're clueless to Bible truth. What you need to do is is to go back now that you've got a new perspective. You've heard these verses. Now go back with your new perspective and read these passages with the proper foundation in place. The correct premise. You'll notice they'll start to look different. I challenge you.

No one has the gift of prophecy today. That was fulfilled by completing the word of God. Aka - the bible. People do however have gifts to prophesy.

Addreine, today, there is no such thing as a "Gift of Prophecy!" Please read 1 Corinthians 13:8-13. We have the "Perfect Law of Liberty now" (James 1:25) which is the complete word of God. There is no need for prophecy! Thanks for your question.

You were speaking truth and I agreed with you up until you said that there are no demons to cast out for today. I totally disagree! Because Scripture tells us that we war not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places..in Ephesians 6. Those are what we would call demons. Satan has a kingdom and there are demons and there are ranks in his kingdom because he is always copying our Heavenly Father. Jesus even said that there is a strongman and that you must first bind the strongman in order to spoil his house. The strongman is a demon. I pray that the Holy Spirit would open the eyes of your understanding regarding the demonic enemies that we are at war with. blessings!

sorry partner, we are all supposed to keep the laws of Moses after salvation in Christ. For Christ is the "goal" of the Torah to all that believe in Christ. "For Christ is the end of the law to all that believe". The word end in greek is TELOS. Telos doesn't mean end. In fact it means "Goal".
But yes, Woman are not allowed to usurp a man's authority by overseeing, or teaching the men in the church (within a public setting).

    I HAVE A SECRET
I kept it hidden until today about all the times he has tricked me to suffer for him. Slashed, gashed, head cut off, hung, choked, and burnt at the steak. Beat, hit, raped, used and enslaved. Shot in the face, the drink was laced, I’m drowning with no one to save me. He claims I disgrace my own place. In his story there’s no such thing as a happy ending. I remember my own blood being splattered on the wall, and I kept my mouth shut. What if after 40 years in the wilderness I was the one destined to die?
What if I told you I was the lamb crucified? What if I told you I was the one with the stab wound? Would you love me just the same if I were a she not a he? Could you believe in me? He slams my face in the door, and calls me a stupid horror. Year after year after year. I’m trapped in a cell he created hell. Worthy to be slain is my name. Dare I come in the name of Yeshua? Dare I claim equality? I have the face you won't recognize me. My spirit is in my Mother Mary. This is why I cry. I am the forgotten daughter of God, because you put the blame on me. I was forbidden to speak until now. The climate is do to the missing polarity in the trinity. I pick wisdom from the tree.
