  • Welcome to my channel!!!
    I started this channel on October 5, 2021. I wanted to do something I had not done before. I decided to melt silver and pour a channel round. I wish I could have melted more, but that is what I was able to save up for. 5 troy ounces is a good bit to melt. The melt went easy and fast, less than an hour using the ToAuto 1-3kg Electric Melting Furnace. The channel coin may not have filled in all the way, but it does look great and will make a great addition to the stack. I will melt silver again, some day. #toauto
    I buy my coin moulds from ArtByAdrock. Adrock also designed my custom channel coin moulds. After a couple emails and a very rough sketch of what I wanted, he designed the moulds. They look awesome. He also has a good selection of moulds to pick from. I have an affiliate link with him. If you buy anything through the link, I get a small commission from it. What I get, I will use to buy new moulds for the channel. Here is the link: artbyadrock.com/?wpam_id=6
    Disclaimer: Melting metals is dangerous and not to be taken lightly. If you decide to melt metal, make sure that you research the equipment used, the metals you plan to melt, and the safety equipment needed.

    good job and happy anniversary! I think you had the torch a little too close and was pushed the metal away.

      Thank you. I think it was to close also. I did turn it down some, but not enough. Could have just shut it off I guess. Next time I will know better.

    Dang that took a long time to heat up. My patients would have been on edge. 😂 Seems like it still wasn’t hot enough. Cool piece though! The stack is coming along nicely. I got a Ryobi bench grinder for cheap and it works great. Home Depot. If you don’t want to pay for a polisher you can get the drill attachments. I use those on a drill press and just let it spin. It seems like a perfect speed. I’ve been thinking about electric but I don’t know if I can wait like that. I don’t know what I would do with myself. 😂

      It was not as fast as using my Devil Forge, but I was able to work on some other stuff while it was heating up. I was trying to get it done because I was leaving the next day for work out of town. If I had not had to preheat the crucible, it was new, it would have saved some time.

      I think it would be great for winter and not having to be outside. If I could do it in the shed it would be way better. How long does it take to get up to temp for silver from turning it on?

      @@CapitalCurrency Total time for start to just before pour was just under an hour. That also included 10 minutes to preheat the new crucible.

    Crucibles cost so much 😱

    • @JsStack
      @JsStack  Před rokem +1

      That they are, but they are necessary. I save up for everything or cash out some of my hotel points for Amazin gift cards to buy stuff.
