    Cut-Rate Commander - Precon Upgrade Guide for Riveteer Rampage & - Henzie "Toolbox" Torre from Streets of New Capenna #MTG # Streets of New Capenna
    The best hired thug from Streets of New Capenna has taken our job to helm out latest commander build, where he'll be leading a horde of big creature to blitz out and generate us value as they hammer themselves against our opponents.
    In this build, we’ll be refining the base build ability to use and abuse Henzie’s blitz granting and cost reduction while doing so by filling it to the brim with high cmc creatures with potent ETB, ATK/DMG, and Death triggers to make the most of it - using them to come down hard, hit fast, then replace themselves when they get saced. And alongside our big creatures, we’ll of course be running plenty of death payoffs and sac outlets to get even more value they sac themselves away or we sac them for even more value, in addition to ways to get them back into from our grave to hand or field permanently to continue the onslaught again our opponents until there’s nothing left of them.
    Let me know if the comments below if you agree with my choices and/or what you would add to the deck instead. Also, let me know know who you would like to see next by voting on in the comments on the three choices of commander listed at the end of the video.

    Grazzet, you are a boss! Love your videos, all of your upgrades make total sense. I am a returning MTG player (12 year gap) so I am way behind on all the new cards. I am also new to Commander so its hard for me to build better decks on my own. I have already upgraded 2 decks with your videos and love them both. My personal favorite is your Urza, Chief Artificer upgrade. I even sprung for a few of the more pricey cards and the deck kicks major ass now! Keep of the good work sir!

      Firstly, welcome back to the hobby after so many years! I under stand completely how daunting it is to come back after a long hiatus (I came back myself during War of the Spark after dropping the hobby during the original Mirrodin block), so its good to see that my builds are being used as a starting off point for new/returning players.

    Some really cool picks here I didn’t think of. You may have missed a few in the sorcery area I specifically looked at haste graveyard to battlefield options to supplement blitz because graveyard to hand is slow. To that end I went with Olivia Crimson Bride, Cauldron Dance, Wake to Slaughter, and Nightmare Sheperd. Blitz Olivia lets you redo a spicy blitz or hard casts just fine. Cauldron dance lets you put a haste from hand and graveyard and keep a thing to use a second time for 6. Wake gets you a blitz and yard to hand for 5. (Minus the card draw but this deck has plenty) and nightmare sheperd is very broken bringing back a second etb on a 1/1 and even keeping a 1/1 henzie on the board is great.

    World Shaper is actually much better than I ever thought. Works with fetch lands, works with Gamekeeper, works when your opponents play wheel / discard/ mill. Last time I put 6+ lands in play and took over the game.
    Temur Sabertooth bounce is situational, but great if you really need to replay something in a pod with graveyard hate, infinite mana combo with dockside not withstanding. In my case, when Henzie gets up to 9 mana, I prefer to bouncing him instead of letting him die. The KND 4 mana red dragon that gives 3 treasures is also decent include. Play for 2-3 mana, get 3 treasures.
    Glittering stockpile won me 2 games so far. People ignore it because '3 mana rocks are bad' but if you play it early, it's a surprise dark ritual / seething song. Somehow always draw it early, always sack it for 3-4 mana.
    PS this deck is begging for a fling effect. I'm also going to ad reliquary tower because i get too much draw and it's sad to discard to hand size.

  • @rhydex5603
    @rhydex5603 Před 2 lety

    My first play of this deck had me thinking the complete opposite of Temur Sabertooth, Rain of Riches, and Glittering Stockpile. Glittering Stockpile allowed me to use Rain of Riches every single turn. Temur Sabertooth allowed me to bounce creatures like Etali that had amazing upside every single turn and prevented anti-graveyard stuff from killing my value of recursion.

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  Před 2 lety +4

      Interesting. In my testing, Glittering stockpile and Rain of Riches never got played in the same game together (never drew into them at the same time) so they were much less useful individually. And Temur Sabertooth, while definitely a good card, didn't really contribute to the recursion/reanimation sources we already had in the deck, so was ultimately cut for another value creature.
      Still, if they work for you, play a few more games to make sure they feel good and by all means keep them in if they do. And thanks for the feedback!

  • @crovax1375
    @crovax1375 Před 2 lety +1

    This is the precon that I picked up! I got it mostly for The Beamtown Bullies.
    It's kinda funny, but according to the game rules, Henzie doesn't actually work as intended. The issue is that Henzie only gives the Blitz ability while it's being cast. This technically means that the Blitzed creature doesn't get haste or the draw ability, but it does get sacrificed at end of turn!

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  Před 2 lety +5

      The Beamtown Bullies are certainly a unique commander and I personally can't wait to brew around them!
      Regarding the rules, I did hear about that but haven't been following it too closely. I'll assume the WotC will have to make some adjustments to their ruleset to accommodate for this, if only to make it easier to template abilities like this in the future.

    • @enrienri1815
      @enrienri1815 Před 2 lety +1

      Hi, sorry can you explain this? I'm not understanding the problem and i thought that i can blitz every creature (cmc 4 or more) and give them haste and draw then sacrificed. Sorry for my bad english!

    • @crovax1375
      @crovax1375 Před 2 lety

      @@enrienri1815 it's a pretty strange rules quirk because of how Blitz works in the comprehensive rules. Henzie only gives the your 4 cmc creatures blitz when it's on the stack and not while it's on the battlefield. The haste and card draw ability of blitz only works if the creature has blitz while on the battlefield, but the sacrifice trigger is created as part of casting a creature with blitz. The result is that you actually end up with a creature with all of the downside with no upside!
      I found out about this from the Judging FtW CZcams channel

    warlock and bard classes are pretty damn good in this deck as well
    if leveling bard class to 2, toolkit can just come out with just a black mana in the beginning of the game, with the ramping power of the deck, its not an issue to get bard class to level 2
    warlock class itself when u sack your creatures or die from blitz, ur opponents get hit by 1 dmg
    and the best part of these two classes, there cheap to cast as well
    Warlock class: 1 black mana
    bard class: red and green mana

      OH i would also suggest Ranger and Druid class. since ranger can give u a 2/2 token wolf, level 2 put a 1/1 counter on attacking creature, and at level 3 u look at the top of ur deck at anytime, and u can cast creatures from the top of the deck as well.
      Druid: any land you put on the field you gain 1 life, level 2 u can play an attentional land on ur turns, and at level u can make a land as a creature with haste with */* which equals the amount of lands u control. those are the best classes i think that can work every well with toolbox

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  Před 2 lety +1

      @@supersalty_9459 Less keen on these 2 classes than the previous 2. Ranger class's level 3 is the only that that really help the gameplan - which is great since we can blitz creatures of the top - but it takes 8 mana to get there (and there are options like Augur of Autumn and Vivien, Monsters' Advocate that fit the build better) - while Druid is only a ramp piece for us who's lands matter payoffs don't really help us too much in this build.
