The chemistry was off the charts and rarely seen without it being forced.
The English was warm, wonderful, gritty, and a nuanced story. Emily and Chaske were perfectly cast! In fact the casting overall was absolutely superb. One of the best period peace series ever!
This series is beautiful..Best thing on TV for ages, as in a sweeping tale of violence and ultimately a wonderful love story...not gonna lie, wiped a couple of tears away at the end!
The chemistry between the two is out of this world. They are completely believable in the script given to them. At no point did I not completely believe into them as to who they were incarnating on the screen. Compliments to the writer too. There is no good movie without a good story. This one is among the top for that genre!
I'm obsessed with this beautifully done series. The chemistry between Cornelia and Eli is so unique to me. I remember the scene I think E1 or E2 when Eli takes the bow from Cornelia's hand and start flicking the bow string. I noticed that her right hand did the same exact flicking motion his did and stopped at the same time his did! It didn't look like it was part of the script. It looked so natural to me, now that's a connection.
I love the way she leans towards him. Every time he speaks ❤️
Emily Blunt is such a gifted actrice, and very adorable. Chaske Spencer was amazing all throughout the series and the love scenes was very moving (and of course we cried in ep 6, who wouldn't).
His respect for Emily here and always ❤ such a humble man ❤ Chaske Spencer is a great representation of men and humans in general and a role model for Indigenous youth ❤
Happy he never gave up 💪
I personally just can’t give up on him and I want to see more!!!
Fate was so unfair to make them meet but not be together. They had that deep love.
He could've gone back to England with her but he'd have been miserable
They could have gone to Mexico
This proves they can still make great westerns! Beautifully filmed and acted, right from the start it pulls you in - I really loved it. A lot of us are thirsty for a good western, so we hope we get to see more llke this one in the future!!
One aspect that should have been discussed here was the diverse ways that the Indigenous characters found to survive. The audience wasn't allowed to fall into the comfortable stereotypes of Indigenous peoples as hapless victims. I really enjoyed the subtlety of presenting most of the White male characters as almost caricatures, while there was a lot more depth and texture to the Indigenous characters.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed...beautiful cinematography, great direction, terrific cast. We encountered it by accident so glad we did. Blunt is terrific, as if Spencer...outstanding performances all round.
It’s a brilliant series well done. I can admit I cried at the end 😢❤ such a poignant and touching love story.
I know Emily Blunt's work but I've never seen Chaske Spencer. Love this guy, looking forward to seeing him in the future. One of the best things about this miniseries was their relationship. It wasn't a boring romantic love story like we're so used to seeing, it was a deep and unconditional friendship. Everything came together for this story. The only negative was the subplots. I watched every episode straight through and found myself getting a little confused. I'll go back and watch it again anyway.
I loved his Mohawk ‘do. Native Americans need to be venerated.
He was in Twilight
He was the lead werewolf in Twilight that wasn't Taylor Lautner.
Chaske is a powerhouse. Definitely check out his work before this series like his role in Wild Indian and Shouting Secrets, even his guest roles on different TV series. He's phenomenal and I couldn't be happier that he did this series and worked with Emily. Both of them are incredible!
This meant a lot for it being Native American heritage month. I loved it. Almost as good or the same level as the movie Dances with Wolves. Thank you.
I thought of this same comparison. Such an expansive work of cinematography.
Absolutely superb! binge watched it as I could never wait a week for the next episode ! Everything that makes something work brilliantly was there. Just wished there were more episodes as well 😣 I won't lie either ,at the end I had more than a few lumps in throat and watery eyes ☺
This was wonderful!
I’ve watched this series…6 SIX times‼️
The best series I ever seen in a long time
Just saw the entire show today … it is fantastic👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️.
Excellent show and stunning piece of artistry. The cinematography is beautiful, the acting intense and powerful. The characters are historic and re-enact the violence of the time yet there is incredible resonance with the modern world. The leads are amazing and both the villainous and wholesome character performances shine also.
Thanks for this beautiful series the cinematography is amazingly beautiful. The story was so exciting, horrifying but was intense and complex I had to binge watch it even crying at the end. Loved the characters. Love westerns was waiting for something to fill the void after Godless.
This show is so beautiful
I think they like each other a lot❤..really, a lot..
Such an amazing show.
Touching story. Beautifully filmed and Emily and Chaske were awesome lead actors. These two should be paired again in another storyline. The friendship between their characters was almost palpable.
IM SO MAD THEY COULD HAVE BEEN TOGETHER 💔💔💔💔🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Waiting 😍
I'm here for all things Emily Blunt because even when the material isn't as strong, she's fantastic. But this was a whole nother level. The show is large yet intimate, beautiful and bitter, enhanced by the landscape and immersive score.
So excited for Emily Blunt! "The English" is one of Emily's six-part miniseries on BBC and streaming on Prime Video! The best!
Thanks shill 😆
Where can i see it thank you
We loved the performances, the scenery, but wondered if crucial parts of the story got left on the cutting room floor.
Yes I thought the same thing. 'Spoiler Alert'
Especially the scenes in England with the Antagonist. That was frustrating for me.
Enjoyed it,a little different
Chaske, I am obsessed you!!!!
chaske spencer needs to be on thirst tweet
My is country so far removed
from this but I would love to know more from Indian local cultures xx warm, unexpected made me a fall in love with the character. I cants stop thinking about him….,
I binged watched all the episodes and the last one made me cry for Cornelia and Eli. There was one thing I did not understand. After the couple's brief passionate moment in episode five, Cordelia runs away and covers herself in sand? Why?
She was suffering from the disease and could not risk exposing Eli. She wore gloves to hide the affliction. Her sand bath was an interesting scene and I have to think about that attempt to cleanse herself? Coverup her affliction? I don’t want to name the disease here b/c it’s a spoiler.
@@lizannewhitlow1085 Yeah, at that point, we don't know what she has and can give to him.
My interpretation is that she did it out of frustration and despair - for a brief moment she forgot about her hate, loss and her affliction, and she let herself feel. She lets herself be happy with Eli, but then a short moment later realizes how much she wants to be with him and have a future with him, and how much she cannot have that because of her affliction. Rubbing sand all over her body is her externalizing the frustration of being condemned by her affliction and her horror of almost losing control of her emotions and putting Eli at risk because of it. I think she's trying to get rid of marks of her affliction on her body by furiously rubbing sand, because her affliction is what has caused all the despair and hate in her life, and if only she didn't have it then she could be happy and have a future with Eli. I think Eli, after seeing her covered in dirt, interpreted it as her - a white Englishwoman - being disgusted by the thought of kissing him - a Native American. This was totally not the case, but you can see the disappointment and confusion in his eyes when he sees her covered in dirt the next morning. I'm not sure I'm explaining this well at all, I'm sorry! Emily Blunt puts it really well - Cordelia is like this dichotomy of emotions - revenge and hope, violence and guilt, love and loss. I think this scene showcased that very well.
Was it because she knew she had syphilis
Cheske Spencer reminds me of Gregory Peck.
His voice sounds a lot Kenneth Sorbo.
Brilliant. Only six?? Ugh...
On a separate note, it feels odd to have movies/TV series promoted by a CZcams influencer. I guess this is the new normal....
Does he get to speak at all?
i find it weird how people can talk so nonchalantly about western films to chaske, the american indian wars was the biggest genocide in history that kinda gets brushed under the carpet.
Did Native Americans at that period looked like modern punk hair and bad ass?
They looked great on their 10,000 year old or more pyramids, and native astronomical buildings throughout the Americas
God this woman does not seem to know that her questions should not be taking that much time… horrible interview😖
Agreed
