  • Picked up this $20 eagle claw packable fishing rod and took it out for a quick trip close to home to see what we could catch and how it performed.

I think with a little better reel on it it’ll be hard to beat. I’m gonna at least change the line on the reel, and maybe later change the whole reel out but the rod feels pretty good

@@JTDOutdoors when I purchased this I anticipated the reel wasn’t gonna be real great, it’ll do the job but for how long I don’t know lol. I was more interested in the rod itself and how nice it broke down.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve caught a ton of catfish with this rod. The reel is garbage though…. Replace the reel immediately I’ve purchased one for each vehicle. And they were $15 at my Walmart

Agreed 💯 on the reel, replace it. The rod is nice to have in the vehicles and/or strapped to a pack while hiking around fishy waters

Would you guys agree with the listing that it’s closer to a medium action? Im considering this for trout hikes, but if the rod is too overpowered it won’t be fun and I won’t feel the bites.

@@LightSpinAngler it’s very sensitive, almost like a Crappy/Brim rod, but super strong

Not rod indeed but the ree is duh so it will be replaced by a 1960s Johnson Century.
    Of which I have several.

@@stiltneroutdoors87 I kept having the line tangle in mid air when I cast with lures on it but the bobber and hook did better. Just got a cheap but better one from Walmart. Excited to try it 🙂.

@@tarronadam5435 another thing I done early on with this reel that came on it was re-spool it with better quality line. I had the same issues with the line that was on it tangling and having bad twists in it.
