  • hey everyone I went and fished the cairns esplanade with the big tides turning to a out going as the evening hit. I would suggest about a 3m high tide would be a good tide if your looking to do the same as it will give you lots of time to find the bait fish and observe the movement patens.
Thanks you very much for watching and have fun!

Hey mate just wondering Do you know what bait or lures the guys who caught the barras were using Thanks Great Vid :)

I believe they where using small prawn lures with heavy weights, they where saying when they stir up the mud they seem to have more bites.

    What gear were u using

i was using a 7kg rod and running 30lb braid with 50lb leader, I would use any sort of swim tail grub or prawn lure or even switch up to a hard body shallow diver. The barra can be really hard to get to commit there its hard but you need to try to match what there feeding on.

    Hi there,
it was nice to see the Barra busting up and boofing lures.
I just wanted to confirm that youse are all aware that it is closed BARRA SEASON.
From the 1ST of November to the 31 ST of January.
This means no targeting the species at all, you can't help accidental capture, must be released immediately without removing it from the water.
More concerned about the school boy as he has kept his and was in the eskjy.
I am unsure what his father did with his though he seemed to be undecided , looking as though he was going to throw it back, however i get the feeling he may not have.
Anyway i could be completely out of line and the dates be out of whack or something from time of capture to when you put up on YOU TUBE.
I put this up to let people realise about the closed season, tourists etc may not be aware.
So please everybody ,take no offence to what i have written..
    Regards
    Dave.

That is good to know, I’ll be in Cairns next week, was hopeful I could try for one while I’m there.
