I just did this mod, and taped over the exterior vents. WOW! I am super impressed. I didn't think it was possible, but these IEMs sound ridiculously good now, it's unreal.
Tbh I literally set aside my $1400 Sony IER Z1R even thinking of selling it when these $163 MP145 arrived and did the mod they sound very close and they are even lighter and fit better
I removed the foam and the sound is less masked . I use TRN T tips which give clear and detailed sound. Happy that there seems to be no downside to this mode. I'll keep listening. Thanks! I think Hidzs was playing safe with that tuning foam.
So far, I've removed the inner foam which resulted in clearer sound and increased soundstage. I then took off the screw-on nozzles and placed wide-bore tips directly on the shell. Holy moly did that ever increase clarity and soundstage. I also swapped the cable for a modular SPC cable with thin, flexible fabric and no ear hooks. With the improved fit and no dampening, the MP145 are in BEAST MODE now 😈
Hidizs took the save the whales marketing way too seriously lol Fit is going to be an issue for a lot of people. Everyone has been going bananas with the MP145, maybe a good compliment for my Heyday.
@@Hijynx87 I know the ear hooks on the stock cable are the wrong shape for me, sitting above my ears instead of resting on them which makes them unstable. I need to swap out for a cable without ear hooks or with flatter ear hooks and see if that improves the fit...
No clue how they pronounce it. Correct, I would say they were going for a target or a sound that resembled their house sound on previous sets rather than intentionally kneecapping it.
hahaha the name just kills me, i cannot work out how to say it. Its MUCH better just without the freakin foam! Im hoping people report back about that.
@@MichaelBruceShortbus I reported this under your second video comments, but since you asked for comments here: Ok I removed the foam with a needle. Took less than 30 seconds. Using rose gold nozzle and the white vocal stock tips. I really like it, it's like everything came alive and is more enganging and I'm feeling more presence from the singer. I also tried some micropore tape on the front vent, and I think that made the sound a bit warmer. Not sure yet if i like it best with or without the tape. Edit: I settled for with tape
Nice n easy. Will have to give this a try and see how I like it since I agree that the stage is pretty damn small for a planar. Despite being ginormous, they actually fit me pretty well.
Took the inner tuning foamies out tonight and am giving a listen now. I'm using the red nozzle, and they definitely sound less dampened. I'll listen for a while and try to remember to revisit this comment thread to let you know what I think...
awesome! possibly the simplest mod after the tapemode 🤣 is it easy to put it back in case I prefer the sound with the foam? (not probable, but...) and... does it keeps the bass slam? cause I really like it
Interesting they're using an entirely diff planar driver (14.2) vs the mainstream ones (14.8). But it's still the size of a dinner plate 🤣Would you be reviewing the Timeless 2? Intrigued to hear what you think. Oh. And hopefully S15 soon 😃

What tips did you place it? I mean, do you have the model of the tips in order to get it?^^'
Have you heard the Artti R1 or T10? Looks like they’re either made by Letshuoer or there oem. Lotta hype for these on the forums
No but Id like to try them very much.
i ordered both on 11.11. waiting... the t10 seems to follow mp145's queue to offer a planar slightly tilted to the warmer SIDE.
Nice dude 😂😂
Glad you enjoyed

Do they really seem to have a "house sound" in your opinion, though?

Thanks Mikey , does this mod helps to achieve 3D soundstage?
Absolutely. Helps give some of that planar mojo back.

Very easy to put back, no real bass differences I can tell but there are more mids so you might have a different perception.

Will using it without filters achieves the same thing?
no

no its tuning
