- This song, I loved loved loved it. Now I realize....it's dark as heck!!! Like wow! The story behind this song is sooo creepy :D But really that only makes it that much cooler, in my opinion. Great song, love it, but I don't own it...they do.

OMG, I loved that song back in college and completely forgot about it until today. But I never realized the lyrics were so dark - they are talking about suicide here, right?

To me, it is a fantasy in the mind and not necessarily a physical reality. We often imagine just taking off and seeking freedom on the road in a magical place.

Not suicide, an old couple that wanted to just drive around a lot and go on permanent vacation.. But they had dementia or alzheimers, got lost in the desert, somewhere.. and finally wandering, disoriented, and died.. Their car was found, no foul play, they just wandered off into the twilight zone, basically..The song hints their spirits are wandering and happy to be on permanent wandering vacation.
