I listen to manny people taking about going infantry and how it was the best for us. After 4 years of playing I realize Calvary it’s the best troop type. If I could reset I would go in to Calvary.

Reason why Defense is the main stat they are giving to infantry mains is because Infantry commanders are known for their Shielding skills, active or instant proc.
I asked the in game support few days ago about the stats and they confirmed that Defense boosts Shielding.
They put it as Defense is proportion to Damage Reduction.
High damage Reduction + Shielding.
They confirmed that the Damage factor of Shielding is based on Defense, not the Attack unlike Damaging skills. And Healing Damage Factor is based on Health stat.
I still have the screenshot of their message if you want it.
For example
If you and your enemy both have 1000 hp and 100 attack
which one would you choose? +10% HP or 10% Damage reduction
10% Damage reduction is not equal to 10% Defense. Don't get the wrong Idea, but I am saying that damage reduction is better than Higher HP
I said this because we can get Defense easier for Infantry. Defying the game's logic is hard

Iconic eternal night or crit karuak pants? What if the eternal night is crit and iconic?
Personally I prefer the crit Karuak for open field Bc the eternal empire set doesn’t give any health, but for rally or garrison leads it’s a must have to go for the eternal night pants. Eventually I’ll upgrade my karuak pants to eternal pants but not until I have 5 full legendary sets completed.

As an inf rally and garrison player in 2334 its a must have.. i bought it already in the morning in our first day nile kvk against 2 imperium kingdoms 1671 and 2000..
As a rally and garrison it’s solid. This video is mostly for the average player, aka open fielder.

Gingerbread house (5% health) would be just as good as the new infantry skin (10% defense)

If you’re an inf garrison/rally it’s not, but for open field it would be.

If you’re F2P you need some Cavs in that line up! Once you add Cavs, twilight. Currently, basilica
I have the whole eternal set I split it up in 2 sets of 4 so I get the def and march speed on 2 marches.

I think your example doesn’t give the full picture. When I click the question mark, my full legendary inf gear gives zero health & 60.5 defense, but when I replace the eternal night for karuak humility it goes to 10.5 & 44.5 so should be WAY better when multiplying together. But testing shows it’s worse with karuak instead…so there must be more health coming from elsewhere used in the equation.
You also can get health from armaments, iconic crystals, and technology on top of your equipment. All of these influence your stats as well.

Just to say new here but not everyone has the enteral set so some people may use the skin
Correct but it should be something all inf sets should get to eventually - thus would eventually make your city skin not very good
I think it is safe to buy if you are running 3 inf marches but who the fuck does that right ? 😂 If you play 3 inf marches its the worse investment you can do its always better to be versatile. 1 meta marches for each troop type the other two is up to you but I wouldn't add another inf pair , I would go for 2 cavs 2 archer 1 inf which is still guan scipio.
