    This is an excellent video and comparison. Definitely deserves more recognition. Thank you for your insight, I think I'm going to go with the coast 🙏

    I bought the Slayer and I carry it everyday. A really good EDC choice

    I purchased the Wedge and love it. Thank for informative video! I’m also thinking about getting the Coast perhaps next month.
    From your reply I’ve use 1.3mm hex key to replace the pocket clip. I’m wanting to replace the 4 handle screws. May I ask if anyone know what drive size for the handle screws?
    Also FYI you’ve mentioned the clip on the Coast the two holes is farther apart than the Benchmade clip. The Benchmade clip two holes measures at .340” center to center. What may work for the Coast is ZT0770 clip which measures at .400” center to center. Hope this information help if anyone can measure the Coast clip holes. I can confirm this next month if I do purchase the Coast Slayer.

      Absolutely, the Kershaw / ZT clip works on it. The Benchmade clips are just a bit more ubiquitous

    I love coast I hunting fish I have their flashlights and knives but me and rubber don’t get along That would be broken in a few months, but I love how slim it is to put in my front pocket

    Nice video! Very informative. May I know what tool drive you use to remove the clip screws?

      For the Wedge, it uses a 1.3mm Hex bit. The Coast uses a T6 torx bit

      By the way, the Coast pocket clip, a ZT0770 or Kershaw Knockout clip may work. It’s wider than Benchmade. ZT0770 or Kershaw KO clip’s two holes measures .400” apart center to center. I’ve just purchased the Streamlight Wedge yesterday! Love it. I’ve replaced the pocket clip with Benchmade aftermarket clip. I wanted to replaced the 4 handle screws with some stainless steel screws. But having trouble figuring out what Hex size? Or Torx. I’ve inserted a T6 but feel wiggly. I’ve insert 1.5MM Hex key too small. Then tried 2MM hex key too big. I’m thinking it’s between 1.5 to 2MM.
      If you have any suggestion let me know? I’ll need to order correct hex key.

    I would assume the dust cover for the USB port would make it IP67 instead of IPx7

    I would love to meet the designers that make half this stuff . I don’t know why they didn’t make the rocker switch cycle through low med and turbo when rocking it far forward instead of momentary turbo . It’s like they hire idiots to design all these lights for most company’s like surefire . Unfortunately China is killing it with all these olight nitecore stuff that surefire cant produce. The only thing I would change on the coast would be the shape . I would bevel the front more and shorten it. But I do love the rocker switch on the wedge . Just wish it had more light modes and it would be perfect

    I really like the ergonomics of the Coast Slayer and how it has a forward finger choil and side cutouts for enhanced grip👍 I also like how it has two large easy to access buttons instead of a side switch. If the Coast Slayer had a moonlight mode(0.5 lumens) and a strobe mode, it would have been the best all-around EDC flashlight ever👍 Hopefully Coast will eventually make a Slayer 2.0 with an additional moonlight and strobe modes🙏

      Hey, wanted to ask you if you've seen the Monstrum Tracer Pen Flashlight. It doesn't have a moonlight mode (though its low setting is lower than the Coast - 30 lumens), but it does have a strobe. Also, almost an ounce lighter, and I think narrower too, though no choil!

      Coast literrally copied the EXACT profile of the grip from the Wedge.

      @72twist Yet Coast made it significantly more comfortable in hand, and the user interface is a lot better👍

    What I absolutely hate about both these flashlights is the lack of a "moonlight mode" that is usually 0.5 lumens👍 Personally I care more about how low of a lumen output a flashing has then how high of a lumen output it has!!! For example if there is a power outage and you have to check the breaker box I don't want a bright flashing beam reflecting off of the metal braker box making it hard for me to see what I'm doing. With a moonlight mode(0.5 lumens) you won't blind yourself with the reflection of light and 0.5 lumens will allow your eyes to easily/quickly adjust to see what you're doing. The Streamlight Wedge's low light setting in 300 lumen, which is normally the medium or high lumen output settings on most other flashlights!!! In my opinion the Olight Arkfeld is significantly better than both the Cost Slayer and Streamlight Wedge!!!!

    • @practicalguy973
      @practicalguy973 Před 9 měsíci +1

      Yeah 300 for low is way too high, I have the Wurkos WK15 and for $29 its a good balance of everything. It's using a 21700 battery so not at all a comparison to these wedge style flashlights but its a power bank also so having the larger battery is nice. It uses a Cree XHP50.2 LED which for whatever reason has better efficiency in the lower modes vs many 21700 flashlights. Like 20-30% more runtime between 1-100 lumens. It's hard to get a flashlight from any brand with proper low modes now days, everything that's bright seems to start at 100 or 300 lumens. The WK15 having 1lm, 10lm, 100lm has been great and what I use most but it also has 550lm,1500lm, 3000lm if you need some bright light. I like a lower moonlight of 0.5lm also. Honestly if there was a pocket flashlight with modes of 0.5lm, 5lm, 20lm, 100lm 400lm it would be perfect for me.

    There's always been in my opinion one fatal flaw with every version of the Streamlight Wedge, which is the fact that it has a USB charging port that comes with no rubber cap/cover😠 How is the Streamlight Wedge water resistant at all if it comes with an open USB port on it🤔 The Olight Arkfeld uses Olight's proprietary magnetic charging base, so the Arkfeld's entire flashlight body is perfectly closed/sealed and therefore it's truly water resistant👍

    • @codygreenland9817
      @codygreenland9817 Před 9 měsíci +2

      I phone has an open charging port and is water proof.

    • @ThomasConnolly
      @ThomasConnolly Před 9 měsíci

      @codygreenland9817 The open/uncovered USB post is on the end of the Streamlight Wedge's handle. So when it's clipped to your pants pocket the open USB port is facing directly straight up and it's sitting at the level of your pocket seam. Therefore dust, dirt, road salt, ect... can easily get inside that open USB port and cause unnecessary damage😐 The Olight Arkfeld(my all-time favorite flashlight) has a magnetic charging base. Therefore, its aluminum body is fully sealed and it's significantly more water/debris resistant than a flashlight with a USB port, especially the Streamlight Wedge with its open/uncovered USB port👍

      @codygreenland9817 Most people buy protective phone cases that are shock resistant and have a USB port cover like the Otterbox Pro series phone cases👍

  • @ThomasConnolly
    @ThomasConnolly Před 9 měsíci +1

    The Coast Slayer looks like a really high-end quality flashlight from Coast🤔 This is like seeing a really nicely made high-end pocket knife made with high-end materials, and then seeing the CRKT branding on it😐 Coast is known for making less expensive flashlights that usually offer lack luster lumen outputs and features, so it's interesting to see Coast finally create the high-end flashlight like the Slayer👍

  • @ThomasConnolly
    @ThomasConnolly Před 9 měsíci

    I also don't like how you have an extremely deep carry aftermarket pocket clip on the Wedge, with the clip being higher than the body of the Wedge. Why, because doing this makes it more different/annoying to retrieve the flashlight from your pocket. In a potential self defense situation at night you might want to use your flashlight as a first line of defense to blind your potential attacker/someone approaching you, so having the Streamlight Wedge berried so far down in your pocket will make it difficult to quickly draw it from your pants pocket and turn it on👍

      The clip not withstanding, I believe it easier to flip the switch on the Wedge than the button on the Slayer, that being said, it's also easier flipped on in my pocket
