    Henry VIII was born and raised as an incredibly devout Roman Catholic man.
    But upon the death of his brother, the 11 year old Henry’s life is turned upside down. From this point onwards, the heavy burden of the succession would become his to bear. Despite being granted ‘Defender of the Faith’, Henry would soon turn the country upside down and change history forever on his personal quest to fulfil his desire to father a legitimate male heir. This path of Love and death would quickly lead to several failed marriages. It’s hard to discern the man from the myth. But it's easy to see that Henry VIII has become the most infamous English King, and is remembered half a millennium later for his romantic passion and his tyrannous rule.

      Queens and Kings have no power now in the 21st century and haven’t done for many decades. Strong, weak, smart, stupid, it doesn’t matter a jot, whoever is next in the line wears the Crown. It can not be an easy thing knowing you are only going to be recognised and considered of worth when the parent at the top of the pile, reigning King or Queen dies. King Charles has so far risen to the challenge, he may not be perfect but then he’s not you. Charles and Diana divorced before she died so even if she was still alive she would have never been Queen. No one is perfect and Diana would hold her hand up to that like most of us.
      She was never a Princess in her own right, just HRH Diana Princess of Wales.

      This is true. I’m confused as to why Henry 7th’s Queen is not labeled Elizabeth 1st. I understand that Anne Boleyn’s daughter receives this title, but would it not be more technically correct to call Elizabeth Tudor Elizabeth II rather than I? The last Queen Elizabeth could then be Elizabeth III.

      Not really because Ivan the terrible is only suspected to have killed wives thru poisoning we don’t know if he killed them himself & he wasn’t on a quest to gain an heir even without his own sons Russia rule would’ve been secured thru uncles or brothers or nephews cousins there were plenty of them where as the Tudors Henry 8th was the last of his line there was no Tudor line without him having a son even if his daughters had married & had children they would of been male bloodlines of other countries not Tudor so that’s why his wives & his need for a male is so legendary

  • @margaretcottingham5920
    @margaretcottingham5920 Před 6 měsíci +1

    Henry VIII was larger than life but had many moral deficits including pride. Henry let his quest for an heir cloud his judgement in his less than honorable treatment of his wives. Elizabeth I was meant to rule. She and her sister Mary were just useless pawns that proved very valuable in the end. It's auite easy to see trainwrecks after they happen so we can't be too harsh about Henry's flaws.

He was so ignorant and evil towards the end that he was just not the king that was crowded in the beginning. Instead he was a tarent that thought of no one but Henery. He really lived the life of a king that was loved and honored by everyone maybe it is supposed to be remembered that way only God has the power to judge and punish every man and woman.
