Learning how much of a presence the Tak and the Power of Juju series had during the 2000s, its incredibly disheartening to see it having fizzled out and be forgotten nowadays. Hopefully with how THQ have been on a roll with remaking old games like Destroy All Humans and Battle for Bikini Bottom, we could see Tak make a resurgence. Maybe he could even appear as a playable fighter in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl
I’m doing everything I can to get the attention of THQNordic and Avalanche Software so they can remake the entire trilogy! The Tak community has to have a louder voice do everything you can to make it happen talk tweet do anything to get the word to THQNordic!
I think Seeing tak as a playable character in Nickelodeon all star brawl series would be pretty cool
I remember playing this game at a cousin's house back when he had a PlayStation 2, and I'm always a sucker for anything Patrick Warburton's in. Guy has a voice that can't be beat.
I never forget that commercial with that rock song. You know the one.
wild boy wild boy wild boy wild boy
WILD BOY
WILD BOY
...i dunno the other lyrics lol
I feel bad for Tak, a rocky start aside he could have been up there with the great names in 3D platformers maybe not as big as the kings mario, sonic, crash and spyro but definetly a well remembered one like sly cooper or banjo and kazooie. But after a rollercoaster of games in various quality and a mediocre TV show nick pretty much shuffled him away with all the other forgoten nicktoons, (Mr.. Meaty, the x's catscratch mighty b) Which is something were gonna have to get used too as we start heading into the awkward transitionary years between the late 90s/early 2000s and the dark age of the 2000's into the 2010's.
Thankfully All star brawl aside (because it's new) the next few games were a golden age of nick games, while the 3D platformer was on a decline at the time, licensed titles like the ones made by nick were actually some of the best entries of the era, they may have even kept the genre alive till it came back big in the 2010s into now.
Yea tak was a good show and had a solid game or two definitely a good show and underrated game sad it never got a shine
After watching this now I'm hoping he'll eventually be in Nick All Star Brawl. Those three orginal games from what Ive seen have earned their cult classic status.
I really hope Tak is DLC in Nick Brawl
Post or tweet about it so gamemill can see Tak would be a perfect fighter!
The tak series was a pretty solid platform (even though I didn’t play 2 and 3). Considering his history, it would be cool if he got an revival or he joined Nicktoons all star brawl.
I always found it weird that tak look in the videogame doesn't look the same in the show
I remember liking the tv show and never knew why they cancelled it, honestly the cancellation just reeks of Nickelodeon being Nickelodeon
Invader Zim and especially Harvey Beaks sadly suffered a similar fate.
@@ultrairrelevantnobody1862 Exactly! Also, C.H. Greenblatt basicallly admitted that Nick sabotaged his show!
I always thought the show came out 2006
Tak 3 is a dumb minigame compilation if I remember correctly, so it's all up to Staff of Dreams to be good, which, based on their Metacritic review averages, is better.
It's gonna be interesting to cover the evolution and eventual downfall of this series since I guarantee a lot of elements here are improved in the next two games but then completely discarded in the fourth and hastily brought back in the fifth, it will be a ride.
I was waiting for this, once a month I had to search for this just to check and see if I missed it.
I remember playing this game when I was really young on the PS2 all the time, but I completely forgot about it and forgot everything about the game I just remember enjoying it even tho I don’t think I ever beat it
Wonderful review. For most of my early childhood, platformers made up plenty of my video game consumption, and the Tak trilogy definitely has to be among my favorites. It’s unique style of art and music has especially left a long-lasting impression on me. Thank you for taking me down memory lane once again! :)
Maybe it’s because I’m a huge fan of Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, but the snowboarding sections don’t sound all that bad. Aside from the backtracking, none of the extra gameplay styles sound all that bad.
I thought you said you like having some gameplay variety in a platformer. Is the snowboarding really that much of a throw-off?
Yea I was confused by that too
Joe from family guy Lol
Heh, if you though the snowboarding in Tak was awkward and forced you've never played FF7; as much as I love that game (it's literally my favourite of all time) to say it went overboard with its clunky minigames would be a massive understatement.
I still remember how hard Nick was pushing this franchise, then after the 2000s it just vanished without a trace. I've only played the first game which I thought was merely okay, not the worst thing ever but hardly anything spectacular, though I wholeheartedly agree that the Chicken Island area was dreadful. I've heard that the sequels are quite an improvement, especially the second game. I was less than impressed by the TV show at the time, though I might have just been too old for it. It's still a mystery as to why Nick never touched it ever again (aside from the characters' possibly stereotypical appearances) but I'd still think Tak would make a really good addition to Nick All-Star Brawl.
Also which home console version did you play for this video? Because there are a few parts that I don't remember from the PS2 version, though maybe my memory is just foggy since it has been well over a decade since I last played this game.
I mentioned it very briefly, but I played the PS2 version for this review!
@@CartoonReview Foggy memory it is then lol
It may be a hot take but as a kid I loved the snowboarding sections lol. I remember going up the snow mountain over and over just to ride it down
His health is actually always represented by the color of the feather on his head. Though now that I write that it is just another example of how poorly the game explains and presents his health.
You said health is hard to understand because it isn't always displayed when necessary, but isn't it just tied to the feather on Tak's head? The more full it is the more health you have. I think they were going for a Sparx type environmental health meter thing.
Mannn I’m so nolstagic for the tak games damnnn I’m so sad they never got a re release or the recognition they deaerved
It giving me prince of Persia sand of time trilogy vibes
I remmeber the triology but the 3D version of Tak
If Avalanche made a "greatest hits of platforming" game, then the snowboarding section makes sense. As that's a thing in Spyro (The big skateboarding parts) and even Ape Escape's most popular mini game was a snowboarding one (Well most popular next to the table tennis.)
Will you review Tak 2: The Staff of Dreams and Tak: The Great Juju Challenge in the future? I’d love to see you tackle those sequels at some point.
Yes, Tak 2 isn't too far away.
@@CartoonReview great! Can’t wait!
Subsequently you planning on doing a vid on nicktoons all-star battle?
He is. I think it's this Tuesday, if not next week
More GameMill Entertainment trash.
@@matthewbraith0411 Nick racing 2 was fun though and the team behind slap city is making this
@@fodv93 It'll be in my regular Sunday timeslot. I didn't get review code 🤷
9:07 sounds like they should have added a new enemy that can counter your new powerful attack to keep making the game challenging. That is something that game developers should keep in mind not only to keep the game fun but, also to encourage the player to upgrade. Maybe they should added a enemy who not only absorbs the rattle attack but, will also spit it back at you.
Oh yes it's time.....
I really appreciate your videos!! I've been binging the whole marathon and I have to say you recommend games I've never thought to ever want to experience, but stuff like Jet Fusion GBA or Dream Scheme is really interesting me and I'll have to emulate em soon and give them a try!
Please make a video on The Guardians of Cross!!
I wonder if all star brawl will be as good as punch time.
It'll actually be good. The devs working on the coding side of things (Ludosity) made slap city. Heck it has wave dashing.
The Tak trilogy deserves a remake! Tak and the Power of Juju, Tak 2 the Staff of Dreams and Tak the Great Juju Challenge! The games had amazing gameplay stories music characters writing and voice acting and heart! Tak is a masterpiece of a trilogy! The Tak community needs to come together to make get the attention of THQNordic and Avalanche Software so they can remake the masterpiece of a trilogy! #TakandthePowerofJujuRemake
I really hope THQnordic brings back the Tak series, it’s been so long since we heard about the franchise again. They’re planning on remaking the Tak games, but it’s getting harder and harder for me to wait since they haven’t announced it yet!😢 I also want them to play the song Wild One by Wakefield for nostalgia because every time I here the song, I think of Tak.
I've never played a Tak game but the cartoon was garbage plus I just hate how ugly all the characters are that goes for the games and cartoon.
Heck Yeah!!!! Tak!!!! YEEEEEAH!!!
(This may end up on r/youngpeopleyoutube)
SPOILERS
Even if Brandon only “liked” it
I've never liked this show.
"One of the best soundtracks ever." Come on now. That's just silly.
nah
@@CartoonReview So this is right up there with Castlevania SOTN, Actraiser, and Streets of Rage 2? How about F-Zero, Starfox, or Lightening Force. Just. Stop.
The soundtrack to this is generic and garbage. Not even one catchy song. Get yourself some q-tips, your rose-tinted glasses are somehow making it hard for your hearing.
@@gaylordfocker7990 Nah
This game trilogy needs remastering. Original Spyro games are ass. Original crash games are ass. I only care about the Tak trilogy and Spyro a hero’s tale or A New Beginning.
