- 392 intake manifold, 85mm BBK throttle body, LMI Leg Maker intake on 5.7L Hemi - 1st impressions, pricing & review. How much was the 392 intake manifold, did it help performance, did it help MPG, would I recommend it for the 5.7L hemi? Should you get a 6.1L intake manifold, Edelbrock intake manifold or 392 6.4L Intake manifold with active runners.

God damn that thing was SCREAMING on those freeway pulls. I LOVE IT
Oh yah, it's pulling hard! Def cool watching it progress
R/T Life what kinda exhaust do you have
Don't cuss out God
Can you do this to a grand Cherokee 5.7
A real hot rodder takes an under dog and makes it faster one modification at a time. Nice work
So true. Thank you - def appreciate the support
The mechanic putting in the cam is a champ. Didn't drop a single piece of ash 👏👏👏👏
hahahaha - yah he really knows his stuff. Very happy with his installation.
Where can I go for the guys help putting a cam in and would he help with 392 intake manifold?
Well I went ahead and just upgraded to a Scat Pack 392, but I had been trying to find info on this swap when I had my R/T Challenger and now you come out with this video. You're the only one who has been this detailed, can't wait to see what it's making on the dyno.
I def need to jump on a dyno soon. People are ready to cut my head off hahaha. Congrats on the 392 - def a badass ride you have
Thanks bud, I'll have some videos of it action ,as soon as I can get some time off from work, and your car definitely sounds great🤘😎
Those words I love you daddy actually worth everything, god bless your son he's amazing ❤️
I was kinda confused until you mentioned the cam upgrade so yeah, a higher rpm range cam is effectively useless without a corresponding intake. Your airflow will basically flatline when the cam is in the middle of its duty cycle and you basically won't make anymore power (you'll keep your torque though).
Yep you're going to hurt a lot of feelings with that motor. I just had somebody say "my 57 is a truck motor, 392 all day" it's because they're in disbelief of how fast we're getting these 345s lol anyway great video thanks for the update
I used to get those stupid comments lol - stupid people write & say stupid things! Either way - it's all about having fun with these hemi's
@@RTLife yep :)
I'M A SCAT OWNER....BUT RTS ARE BAD ASS WHEN YOU GET SOME THINGS GOING WITH THEM
@@turntablethoughts4232 absolutely, trying to get this Challenger into the 11 seconds.
Would I need MSD for a 6 SPD challenger?
Yeeessss, awesome bro! I’m doing a 5.7 grand Cherokee build.. this is definitely my next engine upgrade.
You will enjoy upgrading that 5.7L hemi!
You gotta race the 392 now with all the new stuff man!
I def will. Once the weather picks up
Race mine 😏😏😏
I know this is old, just finished watching your 6.4L plenum and accessory videos. Great info. Best part though, 7:45. Great son! :)
Defenitely gonna have to show some of my R/T friends this!
You're the man, thanks man for spreading the word
Sounds great R/T life 👍🏽 Loud af and the speed definitely will increase with intake manifold. Loving the pulls you and FP2000 do at the warehouse. Great content bro keep it coming 💯
Thank you very much! I think this was a solid upgrade & works nicely with the ones currently in place. We have so much fun in that spot lol
that black 392 is so badass. sounds like a beast too
Yah that is FP2000 - def has one mean looking ride
@@RTLife not taking anything away from your RT, it's a monster now. but I love black on black 392s
I love the fact that mopars making cars and trucks that people actually want not that four-cylinder crap
Agreed. Give the people what they want, solid business strategy on their part.
I have a 2006 300C SRT8, and I love and comment on you videos besides the thumbs up! Keep it coming bro!!
Car sounds like it looks ! Great! Keep it up . It looks like it’s all coming together . Nice job.
Thank you very much! The RT is certainly getting there though. Learning a ton along the way
Very nice! Really did not expect that to help your mpg's! Wow! Love the setup!
I was shocked on the drive home. i didn't test it because I didn't think in a million years it would do anything to help. Very happy about that
@@CannondaleF700 you dont think what is!?!
@@RTLife nice man!
The car is coming along, keep up the good work.
Thank you Hector! Yah it's def getting there. Learning a ton along the way to
Thats amazing that you got that kinda mpg increase. And super glad that you are super happy with it. Also I think part of the reason the car sounds so good is the open/ exposed air filter. But I am sure the intake manifolds help that too. Super cute about what your son said. Melts your heart doesn't it !!!
Dude. Your car sounds so damn good. DAMN!!!
yah that little dude is awesome... I really appreciate it buddy! The RT is def getting there... Hell of a road so far
Nice! Those active runners are the stuff, cool the mileage increased. Looking forward to Dyno and good weather performance results.
Thanks man - Yah I'm pumped to see how this has helped as well! MPG though is a solid bonus
The better MPG is awesome, the car does sound alot better, I was thinking of doing this but decided to just port my stock manifold instead, but this definitely makes me have second thoughts about that
This was a solid mod no doubt about it. I think it really brought everything together. The headers, cam etc. You will enjoy it!
Looks great, sounds great and the “butt dyno” says it made a big improvement! Haha Glad it worked out for you.
hahahaa the butt dyno is the important one! Thanks man - I really appreciate it
Shane is very smart for his age, he knows chevy can't compare to dodge 👏
hahaha yah he's def the man!
I wish you all the best. Really want to see the Dyno results before I go spend a grand on seat of the pants results. I’m sure it pulls much harder than before but that doesn’t make me want to go drop a grand just to see for myself!
I would factor about 20whp. Not really in a rush to jump on the dyno but wanted to provide some feedback. Thanks for the support
Love the shots of the OLD NUT HOUSE! I may just pull the trigger on this mani setup along with the Comp 270 cam sitting downstairs and a tune.
You will not regret putting that Cam in there... Yah that spot is a lot of fun. Perfect back drop to!
Damn seems like alot.. but the but dyno damn sure doesn't lie... love it.. gonna have to look in to this upgrade for mine.. man keep up the valuable info.. loving it.. thanks
Yah the dyno is a great tool - let's us know what we can expect results wise. Thanks man for the support
Knew you'd love it. Mine doesn't get any traction either even with the 3.09 LSD I installed it just roasts the back tires. I didn't want to say anything about the gas mileage as I didn't want to over promise what this intake did for me.
yah this was def a solid upgrade! The MPG was def a nice little bonus - thank you for all the help again
@@RTLife You're very welcome sir
Nice video, I have a 2014 5.7 out of a Ram pickup I plan to someday put in my 1970 Plymouth Duster and the idea of using an SRT 392 intake is appealing except for the front air intake, I have a hood scoop set up for vertical air intake like on older carb'd V-8s. I will be putting a factory replacement SRT 392 stick-shift cam in it though for sure, value for the money is excellent.
Nice - sounds like you have a solid build going on there
Very well articulated and done! Keep em comming!lol your Son PRICELESS I remember those days!peacefully Sean.👍✌🇨🇦
Thank you very much - def want to be a helpful resource to those looking into mods. Yah he's a funny little guy! Always cracks me up
U did a really good job with this car
Thank you very much - the RT is certainly getting there! So cool seeing the progression.
When you get that revised tune from Jay Greene, then you will definatly be dyno ready. 🐺
Yah I need to get a revised tune before jumping on the dyno! I know the power is there though
You make me regret choosing the v6 over the v8, what was I thinking.
No regrets! Keep on enjoying that mopar man
R/T Life right, I enjoy the V6 everyday, people always think its a V8 because of the look, but Check out my channel bro.
@@mightyprophet4581 Just get a RIPP Supercharger on that V6. you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Josue Villanueva way out of my budget lol am not that much into cars but I can afford to get the V8, than do go that way.
V8 has a better rumble hands down
@@mightyprophet4581 I almost got a v6 in my magnum but dont regret my R/t. Love it
Sounds like a solid investment. Picking up power and mpg is not easy. Good mod.
That's what I was thinking. Almost all noteworthy mods make you take an MPG hit. Not bad
What if someone who owns a 5.7L HEMI Charger tries to sell their car as a more expensive and better model such as a SRT or Higher Badged Vehicle just to scam and get more money out of someone? How do you tell the difference to avoid this possible issue?
Been waiting on this review I knew you would love it I really miss my charger in 2 weeks ima try to go look at a 13 Daytona 5.7
You're going to love that Daytona! Def a great ride
@@RTLife I been watching that blue beauty for awhile now
Sounds like that intake was the missing link to untapped power
Yah I think this really brings everything together. We will see how it all looks once the nice weather comes around in some races
@@RTLife is there a link to EVERYTHING needed to make the swap by chance? I'm very interested in this please
Sounds great awesome looking car. I did this to my car 6spd Challenger a month ago. Still trying to find where to set rpms. It’s a good mod
yah def worth it - not sure how much HP/Torque I picked up.... But I think it's a decent amount.
perhaps a posi 3.09 diff. out of a scat pack would work wonders for you now with the power bump.
I totally think so too. You can seem some of his launches leaving a single line of rubber. That would help a ton for sure.
Grab a 2.62 SureGrip from a wrecked Hellcat.
Ty for your vids , I want to do this to my 2011 challenger rt
You should be able to do this no problem. Thank you for the support
Very clean install looks amazing
Yah he's a true professional... Def A+ install - thanks man
Appreciate the videos man. Sold the 6.1 manifold manifold last week and just ordered 392 intake and cam for my wk2. Still Debating on throttle body size. While i wait for all the parts im currently modifying bmw x5 kw v3 coilovers to directly bolt up. Going to have the height adjustment maxed out at factory ride height so ill have 2.5" of drop adjustment. also swapping in srt sway bars. Will do brakes when i start the manifold swap
Nice! Let me know how everything works out for you. Cam/intake will be a solid upgrade
Like I al👏🏾ways say "when a kid admirers your car or bike over others, your ride is truly something special ".... by the time there able to drive this cars will be classic that they'll replicate in their future💯💯💯...... 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I love the look under your hood now
Thanks man - yah it really adds some flavor. A little eye candy
That way your son talks to you says a lot about you as a person man. Keep up the good content! #moparornocar
He's such a great kid - def awesome to be around. Thank you very much
Very informational video.. The Car sounds great... Be careful out there.. Last thing we need is to see another Mopar Brother get blue lighted........
Thanks man, really appreciate it! Yah the RT is def starting to look, sound & perform great.
Really wish there was someone out there doing this with the durango rt.
I don't think there is any difference but I really wanna get that stock 360hp up to 400 to start! Only mod so far is the pedal commander. I know it adds no power but man is it fun!
I've seen other guys with the manifold upgraded - if you have a 5.7 it works.
I’m doing the same to my Durango and I’m looking for some tips. If you have tried anything let me know!
Sounds like it is going just like you expected.
This mod is a little better then I expected... We will see though what the final increases are!
It sounds really good, like its getting good flow
Boom! Nice vid man
Thank you! Hope it helps some people looking into this
Very nice! Glad you are enjoying it
Beautiful R/T man. Makes me miss my 13'
Thank you - I really appreciate it
Sounded really really good👍The one good thing about the hemi Is the MDS System If you’re doing 60 it shut down 4cylinders to get you better gas mileage Unfortunately with my car I could never keep it at one speed 😂👍
60 and better or Below?
It is supposed to be around 55 to 70. But sometimes it can even work as low as 45 miles an hour depending on the vehicle.
I made a little video check it out about the MDS czcams.com/video/svaSJNwaO1U/video.html
Do you have a link from where you got it from man ? It looks bad ass! Cheers on the bad ass build so far
I got it on ebay - it was a one off on there.
I was looking at a Mod package for my RT Shaker. Start with long tubes, Cat Back, and a Tune. Then Pro Charger kit, and a Cam kit. Doing it in stages will require a Tune each time, according to my performance shop.
I have a 392 and msd window switch on mine. No complaints ❤
👍 cant wait for the dyno results!
I'm going to schedule something soon enough!
Love what you’re doing with the 5.7 just a side tip you probably won’t get good traction until it’s at least 70 degrees so the tires can really hook up
Thank you so much for a great video I'm going to do this upgrade on my 5.7 RT classic Challenger
I have a 6.1 intake on mine I noticed low end loss but I haven’t tuned my car for it. I don’t think I’ll gain much over the eagle. It’s non ported and paid about 400 for it then bought used rails for about 100. I don’t think the top end is worth it but I’ll better judge once tuned. One thing for sure it gets HOT! in the summer. I’ll share my results soon.
Cams are LIFE ❤
7:49 is the best part of the video.👍🏼👍🏼
He's an awesome lil dude! Thank you
You're going to have to go with a hellcat or scat pack differential to help with that traction issue. The 'traditional' differential is a limiting factor now.
Another Dyno meet in the spring maybe? Alphapack Dyno meet!!!! That'd be awesome
I think it's def a possibility! Was going to look into renting a dyno for 4-5 hours & just hangout there. A dyno party lol
@@RTLife awesome idea. I'm sure that'll be a great time 👍👍
The cam, exhaust, intake all changed the sound. The mpg increase came about because of the increased volume of air going through the engine. Now get that high stall convertor😄😄
Def on the list! lol Thanks man
I want that r/t logo on my ride so bad...... that symbol should represent the mod world of the R/T.... 💯💯💯💯👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾💯
Your son is the best 😎
Yah he's an awesome little guy! Thank you very much
Thanks for the info 🤙🏾
Hope it helps!
$1,100 for an intake swap?!?
Holy crap that’s nuts, my 6.0 LS ran $1,992 for the motor, fitech ultimate LS intake wiring and self learning ecu, ls9 cam, springs, and ls3 timing cover. All with a grand total of 450hp & tq.
You mopar people must have insanely deep pockets and you can’t tell me that there aren’t almost as many Hemis as LS engines out there to justify these prices.
Awesome Video!! Did you get the intake with the 392 injectors? And did you use them?
yes - the manifold had the 392 injectors in there & I kept them in.
That’s awesome know a guy that got the 6.1 on his 13 300c with a cam and straight pipes and man that thing was loud I will see if I can get his car on my channel his is a N/a build as well and he wants to run would be interesting to see that. I plan on getting a bigger throttle body on mine and hope I get similar results even if mine is a mustang lol
Oh man that should be a fun race. The 6.1 intake manifold is a solid upgrade as well. I will be on the lookout for that video
R/T Life thanks brother I confirmed it with the 300c owner and he said it’s a go when he comes down he works out of town.
Love the stance. What are you running suspension and springs?
I love the sound of your Charger . I've been thinking of a manifold swap for my 5.7 in my Dodge Ram 2014 1500 . thank you for your informative videos. Very helpful with my research to make this Canadian Dodge Ram fly lol.
You have a pretty solid manifold in place - porting it would likely be your best bet. Thank you for the support! Really appreciate it
So port the stock manifold in my Dodge Ram? Instead of swap for a manifold from a SRT 6.4 ?
Big blue is dope mang...just love the back tires...gotta do the same with my scat....
You will love it! That Scat will look like a pissed off bulldog flying down the road - thanks man
Oh snap son....you still gotta get a Hellcat airbox
yah that would def help a lot
Another awesome video 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Thank you! Def a solid upgrade option
I can't wait to see the dyno...enjoy brother
Did you look into - Edelbrock - Performer RPM Cylinder Heads for an upgrade; I'm thinking about the Performer RPM Heads, the Edelbrock Victor II EFI Intake Manifold, and BBK® - Power-Plus Series - Throttle Body with the Mopar CAI, this package runs about $3,500 in parts only. I watch the guys on Engine Masters - biggest BANG for the Buck on Hemi's according the Freiburger and Dulcich is the Performer Cylinder Heads.
Good old Pilgrim state lol. Sweet R/T. Hopefully picking one up in the next few weeks
Love the channel, and it’s inspiring me to upgrade my 2014 R/T challenger I’m definitely interested in the 392 intake.
I elected to purchase it new from Summit $671, I know I need the actuator $111(estimated) my big question do I use the stock MAF sensor or do I need to buy after market.
I’ve heard 2013+ don’t need MSD just tune but can’t find anyone who actually did that so I’ll elect to do MSD.
Sounds awesome man 👍👍
Thank you! The RT is def getting there
Maybe it's just me not paying attention, but I do notice a bit of lope from the cam now, that I didn't notice before.
Everything on this RT sounds louder & better. You have to hear it in person!
It should run with anything that's not forced air now. Look at some of your original videos. You can see how much better it pulls now
Yah it's def pulling a lot harder then ever... we will see how it does though! This is certainly getting interesting though
Also that cold air intake isn’t doing thing on the position you have it on now.. isn’t getting any air if you think about need to be pushing down to the air tube receiver
nice. gotta bring it this way to show it off
I see that you had to wire and make provisions for the active intake runners. The Ram 5.7 already has that system. My question is that being said, would putting that intake on a Ram 5.7 be an easier swap from what you experienced?
Thanks for the videos I may get my dad's a a keep keepsake it's a 09 5.7 low miles cool to know I can do some mods down the road
You're going to have a lot of fun with that hemi! Modding it is awesome
Nice video and great surprise your saving money on gas
yah that def took me by surprise. Thanks man
Man that 5.7L (345) Hemi V8 almost sounds like the Big mighty 392 Hemi.
Wow 5.7 unleashed!!!!
you know it!
This thing is sick!
Thank you! Really appreciate it
R/T Life notification bell turned on for sure buddy! Keep up the good work!
I heard the biggest differences maker on the R/T’s is a transmission tune
I don't believe I have a trans tune
r/t should make a lounges on front of car vid about doing that Tranz-Tune while giving no standout info on functionality and why he chose that particular setup other than he did it and he can definitely feel the difference.
Now that you didn't counter wight the car, upgrade tires, upgrade suspension.... Let's see ya' stomp that AT on that uneven/dirt layered 1980's side street!!!
😑He's feeling it😑
Nice upgrade.. feedback the only thing I feel like you should change is that front lip you installed idk man it didn’t look right I guess you can say. Other then that nice ride
What's the little gray filter for by the catch can? Where'd you purchase that from. Thanks
It's a breather - When Steve installed it, he put that on. it is hooked up to the intake
I want to stay NA, I just don't know how well a 392 intake would fit on a 2014 charger. To force air or to not force air?
Turn the intake pipe so the air filter is down in fender I had same setup on my SRT but fastman throttle body
I will give that a shot - see if it helps a little. I def want to have the intake grabbing air from that wheel well though
I’d love to know what that would do on a stock motor. Let’s say you did an exhaust that intake and a tune. Would it improve performance and fuel mileage. That’s somethings I wouldn’t mind trying on my Ram 1500.
I don't think it would impact you as much. The Rams have much better intake manifolds then the 5.7L Hemi chargers/challengers.
Fun fact, the truck 6.4 intake (BGE) is a better performing intake, the 6.1 is the best even over the eddy
I found my MPG fell with the polar vortex. I would say you are definitely pushing 385-400RWHP
392 ScatPackAttack more. He was already at 400+ rwhp before the intake manifold
Yah I think a little more - I was at 355whp then added the cam.. that should be good for around 50whp. This entire intake setup I would imagine should add up to about 20whp. but we will see - the dyno says it all
Yeah 425-435 maybe a couple more. That torque curve has got to be sick though
@@RTLife I wish that was the way it worked, but we know in the world of cars it has a tendency to not work the way we want. A similar build to yours in this thread: www.challengertalk.com/forums/f175/cammed-5-7-r-t-591522/ I'm not trying to be a negative nelly, but I don't want to see you disappointed in the numbers if they are lower than expected. If you are getting 400HP+ without longtubes, you are doing damned good.
Recently bought a Yellowjacket '17 Charger Daytona. Looking to lower it and was wondering what tires you sittin on. I love the stance of yours. I think it will set mine off.
I have 20x9 w/ 275's in front - 20x10 w/ 315's in back - 5mm spaces all around & eibach sportline lowering springs. Gives it a very beefy look. Congrats on the new Daytona - def a lot of fun!
R/T Life wonder how that setup would look on a challenger
How much horse power does the 392 set up add ??? so the 392 manifold swap and throttle body, the 392 cam, upgraded cold air intake
The look on your face during that first pull says it all, It sound like beast. Does that MSD box wire up the same way the stock 392s do or did you have to do a lot of splicing and cutting into the harness? Also, did you go with a stock 392 manifold or a ported one?
I didn't do the wiring but I would imagine it's similar to that of a stock 392. The gentleman that installed it is a Dodge master tech. It def made a difference, it could be the combination of all my mods now just working together but this has certainly been a nice add.
@R/T life
I have a 16 Challenger I believe you answered my questions about the in take up grade with this video, but I have to ask did you swap out the cam before the intake upgrade or afterwards? The car sounds great sounds like it pulls really hard nice job 👍 👍
