It’s ALL so beautiful, peaceful, and just so dreamy Shaye! I know you guys put a TON of work into all that beauty ❤ Thank you so much for sharing this with us 😉 Love from the south 🍑
Thank you so much for your kind comment :) And thanks for being here!
@@theelliotthomestead Glad to be here 💕
Absolutely beautiful garden. Such a joy to see and it's wonderful to see the kids joining in.
Thank you! It really is a labor of love, but the gardens give so much back.
You have a lot of beauty there, but also a lot of work ❤ for sure
Very true. I think beauty and work are often found together.
Thanks Shay! I live vicariously thru you and your family. My little garden is 5 raised beds and some large pots, but we LOVE eating what we do grow. (Also impressed with your responsiveness to questions. Love your channel)
Sometimes that’s all need. Thank you for the encouraging words!
You may already be aware but there’s a tool called a cherry pitter that would make that is so much easier than using a knife, and probably less messy 🙈😅 either way I am envious of all your cherries!!
Yes. Our pitter just wore out and I haven’t gotten a new one yet.
I so look forward to each new video, and have for a few years!! God Bless.
Glad to hear. Thank you!
Beautiful! 🧡
Hummingbirds, butterflies, bees, and dragonflies and mosquitos...all are welcome.
We opt out of mosquito control (year 3) and we have dragonflies.
That sounds lovely!
A little bit of Heaven seems. Thank you
Thank you. It’s our small slice of paradise. We still have a ways to go with the rest of our property through. Slow and steady…
Lovely video. And your children are gorgeous. You definitely need a cherry pitter.
Thank you! Yes, our pitter finally wore out.
I love your channel and am grateful for all that you have taught us over the years! Perhaps you have a reason for not using one, but a simple and inexpensive hand held cherry pitter is a life saver! ☺️
Thank you for the kind words! Yes, the pitter is very helpful. Unfortunately ours wore out and we haven’t picked up a new one yet. I kind of like the way it brought us together though to accomplish the task. I will probably be getting a new one soon, however.
How amazing. Thank you for the inspiration ❤
Our pleasure.
As always, absolutely lovely.
Thank you!
Thankyou so much for doing this lovely videos, God bless you all!!
Your welcome!
I really look forward to all your content!! 🌟🙌🏼🌟
Thank you! We like making it.
Beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome guys ❤God bless😊🕊🌻
Thanks so much
Thanks for all the tips!
Absolutely.
Such a pretty garden!
Thank you!
I thought I was really going to impress my bees with lots of scabiosa (pin cushion) this year, but they bypass it every time and go straight to the catmint. So I have lots of catmint starts that I rotate in as the others fade out a bit, because they LOVE fresh catmint blooms. 🐝 I do lots of Russian Sage, too, but even that seems to fall short if there is catmint nearby. Whatever makes them happy is all good with me!😊
Merci beaucoup c'est beau, educatif et tres intéressant ❤😊
Thank you for the kind and encouraging words.
Wow beautiful box of cherries. So envious. Need to get a cherry pitter! ;)
We had one but used it so much it wore out. Now I employ the kids and Stuart to do it. I kind of like how it forces us to work together.
@@theelliotthomestead indeed, and many hands make light work!
Lovely video - would have been nice to have a few more details eg which dryer(s) were you using and why.
We have a harvest right freezer dryer in this video as well as a dehydrator for the currants.
Mulberries - don't try to pick by hand. Put a sheet (or tarp) under the tree. Then shake the branches. The ripe fruit will fall onto the sheet. Or you can have the kids hold the corners of the sheet. Have someone climb the tree and shake the branches. Watch the ripe berries fall.
That’s a good tip. We often get very stained hands from picking them.
Hi Shaye, thanks so much for sharing your time, space, and knoweldge. What were the little white flowers? I thought it might be chamomile but the clustering of flowers and leaves look different than the variety I grow.
Looked like feverfew to me. If you dry them label because it's VERY tough to tell them apart once dried from chamomile. I learned this the hard way :)
It is feverfew. It looks very similar to chamomile. And thanks for the encouraging words.
@@theelliotthomestead Thank you!
Happy 4th of July Weekend 🎊🎉🎈💥🇺🇲!
Beautiful Cherries😍.
Enjoy!
JO JO IN VT 💞
Thank you! Happy 4th!
What were those last things going into the dehydrator? Cherry pits, and something else?
Wondering what those are used for :)
Those are our currants.
I love it when Stewart joins you for videos
Me too but he likes being behind the camera.
I live in SW Idaho and I have a Montmorency pie cherry tree. I wish you could come pick some of mine, I have to pick and pit them all myself and it’s a lot of work! I pit them with a paper clip, so as not to smash the fragile fruit.
We would love some of those cherries. A paperclip seems like a good idea. I’ll have to try it.
What a beautiful video. Thank you for taking time to show us your bountiful garden blessings. Do you dry feverfew for tea? The honey syrup for you canned goods is in place of sugar I presume?
Yes, we typically use honey in place of sugar. We are drying the feverfew and learning about the best way to use it. I believe it can be used in tea which we may do. I haven’t gotten that far yet 😅
@@theelliotthomestead Yes, Feverfew has tons of medicinal properties. I grew it specifically for menstruation cramping, but it has lots of other beneficial uses. Thank you for taking time to reply.
That sage is gorgeous with that purple hue! Do you know the name of it? Ours doesn't have that hue - it's so beautiful!!
We have common sage and bi-colored sage. The one with the purple hue is common sage I believe it’s this variety, Salvia officinalis 'Purpurascens.
Were those beautiful little white flowers feverfew or chamomile?
They are feverfew.
What were you doing with the cherry pits at the end?
Those were actually our currants we were drying.
Thank you!! Haha I was going to ask, what the heck am I missing out on here?? 😂😂 we toss all our pits!!
Oooooo.....whats the deets on cherry whiskey?!🤤😋
Ha! It’s pretty simple, pie cherries soaked in whiskey and it makes a kind of liqueur that can be added to drinks or in baked goods even.
@@theelliotthomestead it's sounds absolutely delightful!
Your garden is beautiful. I enjoy seeing it and watching you preserve. This is a busy time of year but it’s so rewarding. Thanks for sharing.💚
Thank you. It’s always good to hear folks enjoy what we share.
I just wish you did not raise and kill animals! But beautiful family.
