From sporty coupe to small SUV… The Ford Puma’s undergone quite the change! But can this new crossover really bring the fight to such competitors as the Nissan Juke and Peugeot 2008? Well, its 1.0-litre, 155hp engine should prove perky enough to put a smile on your face, going from 0-60mph in 9 seconds. And there’s some snazzy tech, too: every car has an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with satnav and smartphone mirroring. Join Mat now and find out if all this, and more, is enough to make the Puma the king of the crossovers!

Ok well Rolls Royce doesnt have a foot spa 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Ford: 1

Id still take the roller...
mazen sabry the foot spa is useful when you have a tyre puncture and realise you don’t have a spare wheel so have to wait for assistance to take your car to the nearest tyre fitter. It will keep you relaxed while you curse the day you bought a car without spare wheel

As much as I generally hate this class of cars, I really like how this looks. Its funky and kinda cute in a way (never thought I'd use that to describe a car). I dig it
Ha ha same here bro. You know what I think I want to buy it now!
Why do you hate this class of cars?
@@georgehumphry9857 because if I wanna buy something with cargo room, I'll buy a proper hatch or a wagon. If I want higher ground clearance, I'll buy a proper SUV. This is just a mini hatch that's raised a few inches. I like how this one looks though
As much as I hate SUVs, I really like small ones. My wet dream was 4x4 golf from 80ies. This one though, not so much
There's 0 point hating these types of cars tbh.

12:38 - As with all other current Ford models, you can turn off the lane keeping assist with the button on the tip of the indicator stalk. Common mistake 🤭
12:47 - FYI you can disable lane assist/warning you just press the end of the left stalk - you said the same in the focus review before but you definitely can. lol
Matt:"It's not really an SUV."
yes, like pretty much 95% of all the "SUV's" on the market today.
Have you seen the Tesla Model Y? it's only 25 mm higher also an "SUV"
the Y is 200mm higher than the 3, has AWD, massive storage and up to seven seats etc..
Haja but can it go offroad? NO
@@Gochsener 25mm higher ground clearence. It's more of a minivan.
The Titanium sits higher I think 5-6cm higher than the sports versions.

I remember a time, not very long ago, when Titanium was the absolute pinnacle of a particular model. Now it’s a base trim. Insane.

Not for this review though he messed up
It is a matter of taste, mate.
i find matt funny and an extremely likeable guy who says what he feels about the car
You can turn the lane departure warning off it’s a button mounted on the side of the indicator stalk, pretty obvious really.
I'm sure Mat has said this before in either Fiesta or Focus review. C'mon MATTHEW
@@alexblag18 Sure he did. I clearly remember it. And for sure he doesn't read the comments because he would have caught it the first time he said that for Fiesta's LDW.
Rather have this than the dreadful EcoSport.
@@zacharyreynolds4303 I wish they would bring this to india 😅😅it's sick man
Ecosport is an awful shape but see a fair few around. Ford seem to have models that compete with each other. If I was Ford I would ditch Ecosport, make Mondeo shorter length and continue the SUV route. SUV are generally safer designs, far more comfortable and better over rough surfaces, also sporty enough for 90% of people. What Ford could do is develop a car to compete with the Nissan GTR and alternative to Edge to match Skoda Kodiaq.
M James Ford need to make an in between sports car that has like a 2.0ltr - 4 pot with mild hybrid tech and renew the Capri name as a AWD Sports Coupe as an alternate to the new 2.3 ST Focus.
@@Sa-kx expensive hogi bro..wait for next gen Ecosport..under development in Brazil
Or a focus...?
If it's the same as the Fiesta, lane departure can be turned off by pressing the end of the indicator stalk.
I seriously thought that Mat's gonna throw out his phone after throwing out cans and bottles from the cup holders 😂
OMG i said the same thing to myself when i was watching the video, i got real freaked out when i saw his hand go behind his back x'D
Let's take a moment to appreciate the video editors👍🏼👏👏
For disengaging completely the Lane Keeping Assist you don't need to go into the menus. There's a dedicated button in the indicators knob at the left side of the wheel.
For the Ford Focus it's the same, and in your video also said that it was not possible like in this one.
Other than that, great review and car!
Looks so fresh and energetic even in this color. Brings me feeling of happiness. Can’t understand the negative feedback on the interior, although it would be nice if the colors they used inside were brighter.
No wonder Matt got fired from baggage carousel duty at Heathrow airport
Doctors : You have symptoms but we're not really sure if it's really Covid-19

Doctors: you have Covid-19.
Mat: Covid-19? It is alright... But not as good as BMW'S iDrive...
Oh , I'd like to get poked by Mat's stick of truth.
Don’t really understand the negativity the whole time. Exterior looks cool, interior is good. Megabox is something really useful for a lot of people.
It’s a great crossover.
It has no 4wd option in the range and very hatchback like ground clearance , is it even a crossover or just a tall hatchback?
He dont like fords thats why none of its rivals have four wheel drive but never said that
Jason Muir no 4wd. Only engine option is a 1L. It’s literally the fakest thing I’ve ever seen.
@@Jasontvnd9 A crossover is just a tall hatchback.
the real problem is it being called a puma
thats not a puma
lets take a moment to appreciate the guy who had to go in and wash Mat's feet
how do u get the water out? vac?

@@firstnamelastname-zo5gd There is a plug that you pull the drain all the water out, really handy, you can put tons of stuff in their and even have a basic fridge, just get tons of ice and dunk whatever you want in it, ever throw beers and have a little get together with friends and drink all night. Also someone made a video on the Puma carrying goldfish i believe
Isn't it the same guy that arse kicks him when he mentions The Nurburgring? 😅

close but not really.
4:40 that scene particularly made me laugh so hard
I wouldn't use the "Foot-spa" of this puma when I buy this second hand lol.
Impact Blue LOL
It seems like you spent a lot of time judging it on whether it was an SUV or not, rather than on how good of a car it is in its own right. Like the bit about only being front wheel drive, but thats true for most of these crossover SUVs etc. Weird how it could be WhatCars car of the year, but get only be a consider on here.
Terrible review... Probably Renault give "bonus" to that guy
9:52 mat just starts looting the puma 🤣
Cant wait to get mine, saving hard as poss, hopefully this time next year I will in mine
Feel like Matt got out on wrong side of bed for this review compared to his others
I was thinking the same thing...
He does this for every ford review, look at the mk8 fiesta st review. The title is literally an insult. Everyone agrees its the best mild hot hatch you can buy for driving, he makes the most stupid "points".
Just dont think he likes Fords, watch the Kuga review its a joke.
Meme Machine ha interesting will give them a watch, I was surprised he wasn’t that impressed with the Puma with it being a fiesta so should be great to drive etc
@@adamrhodes10 No idea about the puma, lets be honest jacked up compacts usually suck but he always shits on ford. So for all I know the puma could just be great!
But the odd thing is that his review of the Focus was a great and positive one. While I think this Puma shares a boat load (well not as much as the Fiesta) of parts with.
This car gets great reviews from everywhere and it was weird to see Mat kind of burning it to the ground.
The new text on screen when mentioning the features is great
I think that Mat’s been a bit hard on this car. I just bought a Puma (titanium) a week ago. Ive done 90 miles all in town with the 125 engine. Its my first ever Ford and to date its proving really good. I didn’t buy it as a SUV ,as our other car is a VW Tiguan (and even then its barely a true SUV) , I bought it is a small economical run around for town with a decent boot and just something a bit different. It ticks all these boxes.
Do you still like it? I’m planning on buying second hand 2029. Do you suggest?
@@brobiv2452 I bought one STLine X recently, tomorrow will make two weeks since i got it. It is very enjoyable and clever to drive, personally i thought it would consume a little less gasoline but actually it is not that bad for what it offers in terms of engine, it is very comfy and gives good quality vibes
Actually no I had to return it to the leasing company. Begrudgingly because I really liked it. I’ve replaced it with a VW T Cross ( another Puma had a six month wait ! ) which I really don’t care about too much ( bouncy ride and noisy)
This was my first ever Ford and both my wife and I really enjoyed it. It drives really well with good performance , road behaviour and comfy interior.
It all worked for me and when the VW lease is up I will definitely get another one.
I wasn’t keen when this was announced but I actually quite like it especially in that grey. It’s way better than the eco sport!!
The suit case edit made me surprisingly laugh a lot 😂
Mat: They're all manuals..
Me: End the review, that car is perfect
@A real bisexual petrol-head it was a joke mate
Europe. It’s not available in the US, and Europe tends to have more manuals. But, if this were in America, it would be a pretty sick deal for 20k.
Another reason not to get one
Will never understand why anyone would pick a manual
Had to drive with that for years and always hated it
@@sushi777300I don't think you're a car person
oh that grey is sexy, the whole car looks decent tbh
Still way uglier than original Puma though. Should have used different name.

@@TheAllMightyGodofCod It is sexy, it's just that your imagination isn't rich enough to imagine it in stockings and suspenders like the rest of us normal folk.
Matt and all the editors are the reason why I watch Carwow and no one else. 😂😂 always brings a smile to my face.
Modern 3 cylinders do sound great!
4:44 straight out of Kinemaster tutorial!!!
14:20 uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh, ok, that just happened
Every other car reviewer"Best small crossover at the moment", Mat from Carwow with his VW group money in his back pocket "its just OK"
It's getting remarkable indeed
I was thinking exactly the same thing!
VW paying well obviously
You don't have to be bought to see a VW is another class as a Ford ... honestly.
VW and it’s group are the biggest crooks and thieves the auto industry has ever seen, by 1,000’s of kilometres! Their 13 million plus totally illegal deliberately filthy engineered cars (what about vans etc on top) should be removed off all the roads (help clean the planet) and scrapped with compensation paid to all their owners, not just a few Americans where VW always had a bad name and no big seller because of that.
And it was also super obvious when he tested the Mazda 3
I think it is worth pointing out the ground clearance on the puma is 160mm and 174mm on the Peugeot 2008. It is also being marketed as a crossover not an SUV
Lmao that included foot spa is great
It's front looks a bit like Porsche Cayenne
Imo more like jaguar e pace
The new Kuga has even more of a Porsche look. You'd mistake it for a Macan in the dark!
Side view looks like a Maserati Levante
it's looks like old Ford Puma
Overall looks like Ferrari Enzo. End of the conversation
The first negative review I've seen so far. Matt's indifference to Ford's shows clearly here.
Glad I'm not the only one seeing that. He is angry all the time, don't know why he bothered to review.
In total contradiction with recent review of Peugeot 2008 where he was excited and passed quickly over the enough negative to point out only positive...oh well
Yup, and he is the only one who said about the Fiesta ST not being "quite the perfect" hot hatch LOL
Yep every Ford review he does he always negative and framed as such from the get go. It's painfully obvious.
Agree, always very negative to Ford and besides of that, he treats all the cars in his reviews quite unrespectful. I wouldn't borrow my car to him honestly.
It is a bit annoying indeed. He could be a car journalist here in Finland, because he absolutely adores Volkswagen Group's products so much. However he has given really nice reviews on latest french cars as well, which would never ever happen here. I don't know if it's even allowed here to be honest?
I really like the way Ford Puma looks and drives. Captur, Puma or 2008 would be my personal choises. Citroen C3 Aircross looks awesome as well, but I haven't driven it yet.
Well done on the editing!
Probs the best part in the video.
Actually looks really decent.
22vx Fords styling lately is just on point. Also a small crossover that makes 0-60 in 9 seconds in the standard version is nice
Feels a lot faster than it is too

15:50 matt, you can turn the lane keeping assist off by pushing the button on the indicators stick, like on every Ford i presume
"Mat, the suitcase destroyer" Coming soon to your local cinema.
No cinema os open 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂 I enjoy watching carwow, Mat is such funny guy
Aye, he`s a lovely guy, but he put his "foot" in it 🤣🤣
Maybe you can explain this to me... how is it they manage to make a car bigger car, but with no extra interior space? What exactly is being accomplished, other than buying more metal and rubber? Oh yes. The boot space is bigger! you can fit an additional sopping bag in there. Great. Totally worth the extra small fortune.
I've been trying to figure out the exact same thing... The Puma is like 15-20 cm (6-8 inches) longer than the Fiesta, but it seems like the interior space is a carbon copy of its smaller brother... Makes the whole thing kind of pointless
4:40 my favourite part in this video
this is an amazing B crossover, the best in the segment in my opinion
Agreed
I bet Mat get's employee of the month from Carwow every month.😂
both carwow and VW
That's an awesome car
I’ve commented this on a Ford video before, you can turn of the lane departure alert it’s a button on the end of the indicator stalk
Like, how many Ford's has he reviewed and STILL doesn't know this.
I'm sorry but I was laughing so loud during that reenactment 😂😂
think it really looks good, and the fact that it isn t that much of an suv probably will make for a cool proper st version.
All the Fords i've ever driven have been fun to drive, great handling, keen engines. i just wonder why the bad rep?
@Isaac Clarke In South Africa, people are scared of the Ford since the Kuga fire saga that someone had died in it

They overcharge for their build quality and can't compete with french rivals. They're also known for not releasing fixes for electrical problems, even to ford specialists so if you get one good luck finding someone who can fix it. They've also had an abnormally large amount of recalls for their ecoboost engines.
These are reasons why they're pulling back operations to america and focusing on their truck market instead.
