Race start at 2:07 - 1986 British Superkart 250cc National Grand Prix from Silverstone.
Recovered from a VHS tape and converted to digital (HDV 1080) using a new old stock VHS player and modern hardware upscaling.
If you have old motorsport videos on any type of video cassette, please feel free to contact us, we may be able to convert these to digital for you at no cost (including free return postage), provided you allow us to use the footage for our CZcams channel, social media and website.

This must be one of the last times the original Woodcote corner was used. Silverstone has changed so much since this event the early circuit is barely recognisable now. Great post....thanks.

I knew Bob Johnston well he lived in the same town as me, he invited me to a spin on his kart on an aerodrome one day, it was running a tz250 twin then, and wow could it go...Bob and his wife Susan were two of the nicest people you could meet...and great to see a border lad doing well...

The 1986 Kart GP was my first GP. It was then an FIA - CIK Kart Grand Prix. The UK GP was the only FIA-CIK Kart Grand Prix sanctioned in the World at that time. Martin fought to get the GP title.

Fantastic, real engines in real karts not like that "brat" kart stuff today which are glorified fairground karts on tiny little tracks with prima donna Parents
