In this episode I change go over to Transporter HQ to have windows fitted, one being there prototype flush sliding window.

The windows look great. Mine has opening (factory) glass on both sides. The design is awful, they don't slide nicely, don't close tightly and of course... leak like a sieve. Removing it all and fitting Camper Glass stuff would be so much better!!! Great video as always, keep it up Dan.
Thank you for watching! The factory windows don't have the drain grooves in them. The water can get in and then the gully fills and overflows. We have discussed a couple of small changes to make the production windows perfect.

Great videos Mate. If when you sell this van, the new owner was to convert to camper, it can’t be reclassified as a camper due to new DVLA rules. They state must have 2 windows on one side, not including passenger or drivers windows. Can still be van with windows, but won’t get the better insurance without an additional window
Thank you so much for watching! Yes, My first van was a camper and never reclassified, Fully modified on air ride etc it was still only around £450 to insure. My crafter is still classified as van with windows too. These style of van's can't be re classified to camper either as they need to be a high roof and not just have a pop top fitted.
I really hope these windows are good as I've got a twin slider kombi both factory windows leak as they all do, so currently sikaflex closed really need a good replacement

When the metal is cut out for the window, do you not have to bond or weld the inner and outer skins together like you do on the T4?

Yes mate my windows original leak like mad all over my stuff Must fix them. 😁😁 so you will be keeping this van I recon What about a new steering wheel and a big system 👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much for watching and for the comment! The original windows don't have drain grooves so the water can't escape back outiside! Van will be for sale as soon as it is finished. Steering wheel will possibly be changed soon!

What happened after you fitted the MAF sensor, what were your symptoms. I have a problem with overboost. Turbo cleaned, pressure sensor changed, but no joy, still bombs out at 3200 revs. New turbo next.

How did these aftermarket sliders hold up? Did they leak at all?
As far as I am aware they are still Ok. Transporter HQ are improving on the overall design on the production run.

Hey, I had the van for 2 weeks after this window was fitted. it rained a few times and I hosed the van down if it hadn't rained. It never let water in once.

I drive since 3 weeks now, a brand new T6.1 Transporter and I thought, I have to retrofit the windows without side windows, because the current ones looks so ugly. But now, want these flush ones! When they are available and it is possible to ship them to Germany? Greetings from Dusseldorf

Is this window from transporter hq? I have the original vw sliding window, and it leaks all over the place. Really annoying.
Yes it is. They are still testing these though to ensure they work how they want them to.

I have a flush window fitted in mine! Brought from Vgc only been in 1 year! water starting to come out of the track inside as the seals are shrinking. 😭
Oh no way! Hopefully you can get it sorted out bud.
@@DanChambersDAC I actually did sort it, called them and they told me to clean the inner glass that shuts against the seal & to condition the rubber, I put some wurth fit on all my seals and it has made them like new 🤙🤙
I'd whack some matte black VW badges on it to replace the standard onces!

Good that they developed the flush fitting, i went for oem sliding windows because I cant stand the non flush ones, can't belive anyone can be happy with them, look so cheap and nasty imo. The oem ones have larger opening panel than these though.
@@THQAutomotive Hi there. Not sure you responded to right comment or I am confused lol. My windows are genuine sliders, because I wanted flush windows and the only other flush ones at the time (last year), had a smaller aperture than the genuine ones and I don't like that. About the leaking, after looking into the design and understanding it I think there is confusion about how the drains work and should be maintained. Also the frame of the genuine moving part rusts and swells therfore ruining the drainage. I bought a pair in this condition, replaced panels with new ones and protected them for water ingress to prevent internal corrosion, no water what so ever coming in 👍🏻

Is making so many non factory modifications going to affect the insurance cost for this van?
