Hey Neil I like the new Logo! Farming has changed so much over the years to increase efficiency. This puts the fertilizer right where the plant needs it wasting virtually nothing. Appreciate you showing us this!

Never seen anything like that in NC. They may use stuff like that in the eastern part of the state but our fields aren't nearly as big as the field y'all we're in. Cool video, thanks for sharing.

Sure beats hoeing in N granules along the base of each row!! That’s the technological level I’m familiar with. Even being retired I wouldn’t have the time to do 40 acres… I can barely make it through forty feet of sweet corn!
I marveled at a smaller unit spreading herbicide over my son-in-law’s pastures this summer. Watching it work, I was skeptical that it would get everything. Especially in the pasture with trees and brush to maneuver around. But, two weeks later there was no doubt that it was spot on!!!
Thanks for showing this… it was not only interesting. It also helps to prove that farmers ain’t just a bunch of science denying Rubes. That machine is many times more advanced than the dinky “Robot Lawnmowers” which tech savvy suburbanites point to as proof they have mastered ‘state of the art’ in their battle against Mother Nature!
Neil, it was such a pleasure to visit in KY. I showed the photo to Nana and she said… “He looks just like he does in the video. But, you look fatter.” I told her it was because I’d been eating road food for three days. I don’t think she bought it!!
I got a few feet of video and several photos with other CZcamsrs. If I can get a break in my vacation schedule I’ll throw up a few photos. Were you putting something together?
As I said, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to visit and swap stories… we need to figure a way to do it again!
Even being in the Ag industry I'm still fascinated by some of the machines and specialty equipment of today's modern farmer. It is hard to keep up with it all!

The tall sprayers have always been so interesting to me and it was really cool to get the "ride along" feel through your video. Both your Grandpa's would be floored by today's technology and equipment. Dad so enjoyed all of Mark's "giant machines". I know they'd be so proud of you and all your expertise in what they spent a lifetime doing...just like we are! What else did you do with the fiesta?
Yeah, it would be interesting to know their reaction to all this stuff. You know how I've always been fascinated by it! The fiesta has stories but I'm not at liberty to divulge all of them per client privilege protocols. 😂

Yeah that all wheel steer really helps to minimize the corn that gets ran over. It's a neat machine.
Very interesting, we are about to start harvest around here. We saw similar machines when they could use them when it was to wet they aerial sprayed.

How does slapping the top and tassel around affect the corn? Cool way to be sure the corn has the needed nitrogen! As a CZcams farmer I see dramatically different ways of doing things depending on land and climate of the area. I would guess that the people that irrigate just put the nitrogen in the irrigation water. The most innovative way I have seen a "sprayer" used is as a crane without the boom to lift a pivot tower so a wheel and tire could be replaced in a tall field of corn. Walking the tire out and then getting the tools walked out and jacking up the tower would of taken half a day or more and not even near as safe when jacking up the tower in the mud.
It doesn't bother the corn at all. May even help it to pollinate a little, although I have no proof of that concept. But the corn isn't really affected by it much more than what a hard wind would do at this growth stage. Good question though for sure. Yes, we do have some clients that "fertigate" by putting on fertilizer through the pivot. It isn't always consistent however but it can be. The sprayer as a crane sounds like a brilliant use of a machine. I had never heard of that so thanks for sharing. And especially thanks for watching!

That was pretty cool Neil. Long way from a guy with a bag of fertilizer walking up and down the rows. Kinda answers the question of why farm equipment costs 175K these days. We know how you are though brother. You just wanted to show off a recipe that you wrote during your "day job" to justify all those wages Greg has been paying you for so long! Hell, it's all good and necessary to have guys like you to go out and "sniff the dirt." Just think, without you, no one could enjoy their corn flakes in the morning! Might be something to this "Dirt Boss" alter ego of yours! BTW, Kara still wants a fireplace.
