This album aa a whole is such a great example of an artist being completely free, he mentions San Yawn and scaring his mom, lol, he went off and I'm thankful that the Balming Tiger collective and Team RM, especially San Yawn as creative director helped him let it all out before he enlisted.

“Walk like a duck” is likely from the idiom “if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck.” All the bastards and jerks he’s encountering are showing their true colours by their words and their actions. I think it connects nicely with “get your ass out the trunk,” telling people to stop trying to hitch a ride or benefit from him without being invited along. The man is venting and I’m here for it.

What ppangsang means: There was once a popular video clip from a Korean "Believe It or Not"-ish TV program (around the early 2000, I think), and it featured a middle-aged woman claiming that she can communicate with aliens from outer space. When the program staff asked her what the alien language sounds like, she replied "빵상"(bbangsang) She then continued with more obscure sounding words, all supposed to be that of what the aliens speak. The video drew so much attention more on the ridiculing side and subject of joke, and the word 빵상 became a trending meme indicating something of alien-related or for a plain laugh. Hope this helped on the origin of the word.(from HiNative)

It's such a catchy beat and the MV vibes are perfect, so late 90s/early 2000s. He only reps himself, I wish people would leave him alone, but as you said, many were triggered because the shoe fit and they never stop with the toxic hate he has to suck up, ugh.

    • @AmariLeone
      @AmariLeone  Před měsícem +2

It tends to go that way. Songs meant to trigger usually accomplish their goal

    You are not off base....
Hehe, you walk like the duck, it is literal when you see duck walking they always go in line, so it means you are following everyone in line, simple mindset to by in line and follow anothers... For example - hate train or trend from another side spectrum...

Theres a Korean Middle Aged woman in 2000's claimed that she can speak to aliens.
"BBANGSANG" apparently is how ailens greet humans. But is undesrtood as gibberish.
Namjoon is not using an actual human language when he dislikes someone. SAVAGE!!!

    Thanks for the reaction!
First off, per Bangtan Subs: "‘빵상/bbangsang’ comes from a Korean meme and is meant to be a form of alien speech but is understood as gibberish. . . . The meaning of ‘방상/bangsang’ is unclear. It could potentially refer to a Buddhist practice of planting trees or setting up rocks as a form of defence. Another possible interpretation is that ‘sang’ is being used as an honorific. ‘sang’, while not a Korean honorific term, is often used as the Korean spelling of the Japanese honorific ‘-san’."
In his album listening session with Jimin, Joon mentioned that he called this song Groin because he took everything from there, all his stories, being totally honest. That's one of the things I love about the track, along with the simplicity of the video (a bit of a breather after the first two). But most of all, it's the bassline for me. Immediate stankface and groove, lol.
I get where you're coming from with the Harlow and Eminem comparisons, but respectfully, ew! 😂 This track is pretty much vintage RM, tbh, albeit a more mature version. I'd really recommend checking out RM--his first mixtape from 2015--to get that perspective, just for yourself and not as a reaction. (There are mvs and such if you'd like to have some reaction content later on.) He chose not to release it commercially, but you can listen and get high-quality translations via doolsetbangtan on Wordpress. Just go to Solo Projects and then RM (2015). She has each track embedded or linked on the pages with her translations.
I'm really looking forward to the other releases we're getting from rpwp. There's still the live video dropping in about 30 minutes (ETA it's Nuts 🥳), then another mv tomorrow morning, and the last one on June 9th. (All this in addition to Festa content and Jin coming home in 2 weeks; we are feasting!) It will be interesting to see which other songs from the album these will be for. Since the whole project is stellar, we win with whatever he chose to do. Again, I'd definitely recommend checking out the whole thing on your own (whole album, in order); bangtansubs/.com has high-quality translations up on their site. If you do check out the whole thing and are willing, it would be great to have an album review from you when you have the time.

You have to play this straight into "Nuts" . They are my two faves but the whole album is wonderfully clever word play. I think the duck and bbangsnag have been answered already, but again that is why it is soooo clever.

For some time the government has been trying to use the respect ARMY has for RM and force him into being a diplomat. They want this artist with origins in the underground rap scene to be an establishment mouth piece. He taken alot because he was the leader of BTS. But he's spitting mad and the album RIGHT PLACE WRONG PERSON is him saying I'm going to spit my truth let the cards fall wherever they may ...because its do that or die. At the same time hes been dealing with lies hate campaigns and death threats for 10 years. So the result of this anger and rebellion ...untrammelled genius.

I've listened to all kinds of K-pop and could usually find something in it to like. But I've got to say this particular RM song is a failure on all fronts.

    • @AmariLeone

That's perfectly valid. Music is subjective by nature so won't resonate with everyone

    • @vartite

If you went in expecting kpop, I can understand why you didn't like it; this album is experimental hip-hop, and that's not for everyone. But whether you connect with the album or not, I think we should applaud RM for having the courage to put out the music that he wanted and unapologetically be himself. To quote his conversation with Jimin, "I said everything I wanted to say," and that's such a freeing experience. I personally loved the album - the music is tailor-made to fit RM perfectly, and I've never heard him sound so relaxed and at ease. He takes us on a sonic and emotional journey and the production, instrumentation, and features are top-notch.
