    I'm not a sailor at all, so I don't even really know how to describe this, but at 6:33 when that freighter or whatever was visible . . . I was thinking about what that whole scene would have looked like if the support vessel hadn't been there: imagine being on that ship and seeing some guy just riding his bike across the water. I think I would have probably decided I had to be hallucinating and needed to take the rest of the day off.
    I'm sure the comedic aspects of the situation didn't occur to you guys at all, but I can't stop laughing. It's like stumbling into a painting by Magritte (or one one of those surrealist type guys).

    Try to market this in the Philippines this is very useful for many islands. Try to produce a lot and sell it in cheap and you'll get boom there.

    That is extremely cool! Question - how would you get back onto the bike in the water, when there's nothing to use as a support? Does it stay vertical if you fall off?

    • @Manta5
      @Manta5  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi there! The bike itself is a flotation device (floats on its side). You can climb back on it and perform a technique called submerged launch. Here is a whole submerged launch dedicated class, with broken down steps and the whole launch at the end helpdesk.manta5.com/knowledge/submerged-launch

      We actually took it to a surf session at Raglan - NZ 's most iconic surf spot - and the bike handled pretty well. Some snippets here czcams.com/video/3jhjsFGCmsA/video.html ..and here czcams.com/video/7ysbV3Diq7A/video.html ( first clip on both videos)

    If the bike runs out of battery could you manually ride it? Just like a normal bike?

    • @Manta5
      @Manta5  Před 3 lety

      It is possible to ride manually but it is hard work. It depends on how heavy you are, and what gearing the bike has been setup with.

      Exactly the same you would do if you were on land and saw a tiger....pedal, pedal, pedal! =)

  • @paulanthonybridge5741

    They should really go for a more efficient type of hydrofoil which you lie on almost horizontally ! Lower centre of gravity = better stability. It is already proved that lie-down bicycles outperform most racing bicycles.
