2018 Audi SQ5 Test Drive Video Review

  • Audi’s latest crop of vehicles look good and are fun to drive. The design language is familiar if you have been watching what Audi is doing with their sedan segment. Up front is the big single frame grille with LED headlights and a helping of Alu-Optic Trim that can be seen on any S-badged vehicle. Pricing for the 2018 Audi SQ5 starts at $54,300.
Under the hood is a turbocharged 3.0 liter V-6 engine that makes 354 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The transmission is a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox. The base model has some nice features including a panoramic sunroof. But for a few bucks more you can get the funky fresh Nappa leather upholstery or the virtual cockpit.
The sporty crossover segment is packed with tons of competition and each vehicle adds something different or excels in one area. Sure the Porsche Macan may be the fastest but the SQ5 is comfortable, handles well, and looks good.

Well here is my two cents. I was in the market and ordered one of these through a local dealer. The car being new and made in Mexico, did not have the Air suspension available at the time of my order. So I got everything except the Air Suspension and the Sports leather diamond quilt seats. Sticker price of $62,205. After 6% discount, the price was $58,485.
Anyway, after delay after delay, I was one of the first to order one, and I see them at dealers everywhere, and I'm told my car is still weeks away, I cancelled my order at the dealer.
The manager called me the next day apologizing profusely, offered me $1500 below invoice if I kept the order. So I did and bought the car for $56,000! So I got an incredible deal on a brand new model and I love it. Great car.

Great video! Will you be able to get your hands on a BMW X3 M40i to do a video on that one soon?

You and Savegeese are the best on CZcams though this is one of your short vids.
Love this vehicle, but the tacked-on monitor, fake interior sound and exhaust holes are near deal breakers for me. Don't sleep on the new Volvo XC60 T8 R-Design, which I think you neglected to mention; it is the best looking rig in the segment, and quick. Still, I could be enticed into one of these SQ5's, especially if it were painted that amazing emerald green (and I could add real exhaust tips and proper rear valence).

I don't know why I don't remember this from last year, but I've got the SQ5 on my short list. I have some experience with the A6, new A4, Q5 and SQ5 and S5 Sportback and the build quality is fantastic. SQ5 has the athleticism and build quality that is hard to ignore. If my local BMW dealer was better I'd consider an X3 M40i as a current BMW owner I love the powertrain...but the dealer experience is blah.

I find it hard to take the car seriously with those fake exhausts. For me exhausts are an important part of a cars design, the quad system on the S and ovals on the RS are one of the coolest parts of the rear aesthetic. Come on Audi sort the job out!

How can a company like Audi be so big and then ADD FAKE EXHAUST TIPS, even though everyone said they hate them. I can’t speak for everyone but I’m sure a lot would agree that this car ISNT worth the 70k price tag for the exhaust tips alone. I’ve driven one of these and it’s such an amazing car, just would never buy one because of the tips.

The exhaust facade completely lost me. Why...... WHY would Audi do that on a 70K vehicle?! That is insane to me. It literally looks like a Honda Civic when looking at the true exhaust exit. Gross.

You can't compare the X5 to an Audi SQ5. If you would compare a BMW to an Audi then it would be the X5 M against the SQ5. Audi has mastered this car. X5 won't stand a chance against the SQ5 in a race both turing and speed.
