@Andre Ufnal Yes, these days. But back then all the cc companies did was send a paper statement and if he's work and she's at home most the time, she'd have control over whether he saw the mail or not. It's not like today where you get texts or emails whenever there's a charge over a certain amount to your card.

😂 yes! I am a moral person but sometimes I joke that I am also just too lazy to be a criminal or a cheater. 😁 Regular, daily life and relationships are quite enough for me to attend to.
Of course though, for these criminal types, and cheaters, many of them get a thrill out of it. What seems like work to us is the thrill of the chase to them and the uncertainty of whether they are pulling it off doesn't provoke anxiety but excitement.
Yeah that wore me out just thinking as they do (so I've heard) for the minute to to type it out. I'll go back to my quiet dull happy life, now.
And if you are a thrill-seeker, hey have your fun!... in legal, moral ways. There are plenty of options!

The definition of Femme fatale is a Woman who attracts Men by an aura of charm and mystery. She definitely is that -It has nothing to do with looks! People tend to have an option who is worthy by outside appearance. That is one the reason good looking serial killers are able to con others. What she did is morally wrong for sure. She was able to use her average looks as apart of her con because society makes assumptions based on a person’s looks.

I noticed and thought about this too. I imagine that they must have an idea based upon the character description etc, but I don’t think that she would necessarily have the final narration script whilst filming her scenes.
All I can say is that you’d really want to be paid well enough that it didn’t matter what they said..... but still.

Last night I watched a similar documentary only the perpetrator who scammed a fraction of the amount was described as "a rat" and got sent down for some serious jail time. But that was a man. Miss Golightly is described as having a "personality disorder" after scamming £250,000 and does six months in an open prison where she will "have treatment". The "treatment" obviously didn't work because as soon as she was released she was back to scamming again and stealing more money, even her family, so got sent down again. On release she just starts the ball rolling again. She's been to prison three times but each time she gets a lower sentence so this scamming lark is paying dividends for her. Why bother working for a living when she can scam and steal, take a holiday break in the slammer, then get back to business.

@SA Pete I think something worse happened to her when she was a child. Something so painful that caused her to immerse herself in lies and fantasy.
When I was about 10, we got a Siamese cat. My sister and I loved that cat. Unfortunately, one day, my brother sold it to his friend. What was odd was my parents let him. I remember watching he and my parents drive away with it. My sister and I didn't go with them - probably because they were going to put him down or something. What's sad is my brother knew where our cat went but we had no idea. They said our cat was going to come back but it never did. One day. my brother unceremoniously announced to us that someone shot our cat in the woods. No other explanation was ever offered. My sister and I were horrified but our parents never comforted us. There was never any mention of our cat again.
Anyway, I found a christmas ornament that looked really close to a small sparrow. I built a little cage and invited a friend over to see it. I told my friend it was sleeping and that's why it wasn't moving. I look back and realize that was my way of dealing the immense pain of losing my cat and the sick betrayal and lies by my brother and parents. Unfortunately, there were many more heartbreaks at the hands of my psychopathic brother and parents. Yeah, my childhood was bad.

  • @dollymondo
    @dollymondo Před 2 lety +7

A relative married a prolific con artist. He made the papers numerous times. He walked out of numerous car dealerships with new cars by faking screens showing deposits paid from his bank account. He then became a plumber. Then a scene of crime officer. Then some manner of coast guard defending against Somalian pirates. Fekkin....pirates?? There was literally nothing that he would not stoop to doing or saying to con people. When he went to prison (one of many times), my relative went to their local shop, despite him telling her that they shouldn't use it anymore for some made up reason, and as she entered the shopkeeper stared at her in shock. The husband had told the shop keeper that his wife (my relative) had died so could he get credit for cigarettes and sweets for the kids?
TWICE this guy also told courts that they should be lenient because his young daughter had recently died. When she was very much so alive.
He befriended disabled people to con them out of savings, offering to take one fishing after the £250 licence was paid for. Of course....there was no fishing trip.
When they visited and first met my husband I had to tell my husband to hide keys/wallets etc and do NOT give him any money. For any reason.
My husband said afterwards he seemed like such a nice guy. Then over the next 3 days, my husband was called repeatedly about a slew of unfortunate events that could only be resolved with borrowing cash as the con artists wages had been delayed, his car had been impounded etc, etc.
    That was a hard NOPE!
The final straw was when my relative was having bricks thrown through her windows and found out that he had hired a van in her name, then paid two prostitutes for their services with it and after it had been reclaimed by the dealership they came to her house with their pimp. Now he is ruining some other poor woman's life.

I found out that the man died recently and she is now moving to a posh building so I think she must of had something to do with it. She was married three times and having got to know her a little I found she is off and strange...she comes across very gentle and kind but I saw her true character come out with certain people and yep... she could be one of those. To the men who were scammed of their money by someone with a personality disorder: it’s not your fault for loving and trusting someone. Don’t feel badly about convicting her. I have a personality disorder, so they say, and I was just lucky enough not to get caught from my delusional deeds. However, my guilt was so bad because I felt I was a bad person. Suicide failed. But! I have changed so much since then that I do not believe I could be diagnosed with any disorder in the DSM 5b. To the men again: please keep your faith in humanity. Keep living and trusting. Most people will break your heart (in my experience) but it is people like you who make the world a better place. She knew she was wrong and deserved a much heavier sentence. It has to get bad enough for her to change; six months in an open prison would not have deterred me if I were her. I had to wake up after a near death experience and lose the worst therapist in my life, my job, hide a credit debt, medical bills were $ one million (thank goodness for insurance) and watch my mom pay for my treatment while her husband was dying of cancer, in order to feel a need to change. I hope Emma did learn, but I don’t think it was enough. To the men: you did nothing but be the best person you could be. We all need to trust the odds of meeting an Emma go lightly are slim dispute hearing about all the horrible things people are doing in the news. Please don’t feel guilty or badly about yourself. We need you for society’s sake.
