that was beautiful..I am new to the community of laryngectomees and I share your emotion. I have a long way to go before i speak again, but you just did for me..thank you..and to all these possibly unanswered questions below, after 80 days on a feed tube, I have a new throat, reconstructed from my pectoral muscle, and i am eating fine..yes, there are adjustments to be made daily, and new ways to be learned. But, I am alive and eating very well. After all, I live in the kitchen, cook night and day for my mailman son and his co-workers, and not a moments rest from the utility bill..never been more grateful.

I might need to have my larynx removed, in thought it would be impossible to speak again after this surgery, this gives hope,at least, I now have a traceostomey with a collar in place, I don't know if patients can never eat again after this surgery, I need to find out,

Laryngectomees should be able to eat & drink quite normally. I hope this helps you to make an informed decision.

I have had an emergency traceostomey, with a collar to keep it in place, my doctor says I may need my larynx removed, I don't want to, I thought it would be impossible to talk after that, this gives some hope,at least, I don't know if patients can ever eat again after this surgery, something else I need information about, at least this gives me hope I'll be able to speak again, I have a snap on speaking valve now,or I must put my finger over it to speak,
