    Perfect I have the carb. in my ultrasonic cleaner. Yours is the third video I watched. It should have been the first. I have been a small engine mechanic for a few years. But this is my first ATV & 1st Mikuni carb. Excellent job very professional.The other guys didn't know where half the rebuild kit went. Thank you and I just Subscribed. I look forward to seeing other Video's of yours. I am going to tell the owner of the ATV it would be in his best interest. to check you out. Thanks again. John in Virginia

    Thanks for the Excellent video, It was very clear as you named the parts and then explained what they do. I have 2 older Xplorer's (97 and 99) and they still run great that's why I haven't sold them. The cost of new bikes are out of my reach. So, I just subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your videos. Thanks again, from New Mexico.

    My question is, what’s the float bowl arms measurement? I’ve always had them pretty much level, this one I’m working on they were down a good 2 mm ?

    Awesome video, watched it a few times now. Wondering if i can get some help. 2001 scrambler 2x4 with very high idle, lots of smoke both white and blue(2stroke). Adjusting the air and idle screw does nothing. If i mess with the choke it will calm down to how it was normally before this issue came to be. I’ve cleaned the carb and check for air leaks. No luck. Any tips ?

    • @MidNebraskaMotorsports
      @MidNebraskaMotorsports  Před 2 lety +1

      sounds like a pickle!! I would have mentioned air leaks if you had not already checked it. If you mess with the choke and get it to calm down, I would definitely say it has something to do with the check plunger. A lot of times with an issue like this, I will see a kink in the check cable causing the plunger to get held up or down and the "knob" looks like its working properly. Check it and let me know!

      @@MidNebraskaMotorsports I appreciate your detailed response. I actually got to ripping it apart (thanks to your videos) and seen that my water seal was bad along with the bearing. The shaft on the counterbalance got some pitting. Any idea what to do? i was thinking about putting a thin sleeve or steel epoxy to fill in the groove and sand it smooth. thanks brotha

    Totally different subject but what can I do on my 400 2 stroke to “ lower the gearing” with the CVT. Never had one before and scrambler don’t have a low range. I need some more low gear for slower riding. Or make it stay in the lower range for longer before it speeds up

    Thanks for the informative video. I was having trouble with my 95 Sportsman 400 and replaced the carburetor (leaking out the bowl) and the intake manifold (cracked). I have it all together now and can start it but after about 30 seconds, the RPMs skyrocket and then it dies. Any ideas? I had trouble connecting the throttle cable but it does respond to increasing the throttle. Appreciate any advice you might have to offer.

    • @jimdalrymple47
      @jimdalrymple47 Před 2 lety +1

      I'm seeing the throttle sleeve going up and down as expected. It's even down when the RPMs go crazy. So could it be that the throttle needle is somehow sticking up and the ETC is killing the engine?

    Can you tell me the model of this Mikuni carb? I have a 96 Polaris Sportsman 400 and this appears to be the same carb. I had a problem with the carb dumping fuel thru the overflow and the original needle was worn with a groove. I replaced it with another needle and seat that was supposed to be for the 400 motor/ carb. The new needle has a spring loaded aspect at the base which differs from what I had plus what you show in your carb. I have tried a few times to adjust the float tang to get it to be the correct height for correct operation without success. I have yet to find a needle and seat combination that looks like the original.

    • @lorettacaputo6997
      @lorettacaputo6997 Před 2 lety

      @@badhabitssierra5409 I think that the China needle and seat is not machined closely enough to stop the fuel flow. It is very minimal but I don't want to see fuel dumping on to the garage floor. I have always shut off the fuel flow at the tank, but now I have a small cup that is wedged by the rear that collects any drops of fuel that may happen while I operate the atv. I can live with it.

      I'd start with 2 turns out on air/fuel screw and don't idle it up. Make sure choke is functioning and pilot jet is clean. As son as float height is good and it wasn't messed up, you should be firing right up. Thanks for watching. Let me know:

    The floats are such a dumb design being on rods instead of attached to the arms like every other carb in the world. And the rebuild kits are full of burrs and only have steel tipped needle valves.
    I'm just gonna landfill mine, don't even want to burden anybody by giving it away.
