  • Tara Brach - Trusting Your Basic Goodness (Part 1) - 01/15/12
Einstein says the most important question we will ever ask ourselves is, "Is this universe a friendly place." Do we trust that there is something essentially benevolent or good about this universe? That we are essentially good? These two talks explore what it means to trust basic goodness, and how this trust naturally emerges through cultivating a meditative presence.

As usual, Tara Brach manages to make so many quietly powerful points in this talk. Especially good if you can take time out during the brief reflection/meditation periods sprinkled throughout the talk. I always gain more from these than I expect so I've learned to just stop whatever I'm doing and also to discard my expectations. Thank you for sharing.

i love how you always remind us of aspects in NATURE that give us such clear mirror of how we humans respond to our environment and the coping mechanisms we have to come up with to survive because we havent found that deep trust in life's wisdom yet ..

I really enjoyed this talk. It is completely counter what I and many in the west were instructed in growing up.

some would say we cannot ever trust ourselves because we are essentially 'broken' that is why we put our trust in 'God' .. perhaps that is what you mean by the 'living awareness' that underpins everything

❤ really Great talk. Touches on some maybe simple, but essential questions, fears, wishes that do motivate and move us in a primal, strong way

It's a friendly place for the billionaires who have rigged the system while many are complacent cuz of the fortune they've had & who give a hoot for those having to live less than posh lives.
