  • This video will supply you with easy tips for painting on cake! You will get to watch me painting two different floral designs on cake. I hope you find it fun and easy, and that the tips I give are helpful to you when you are painting on cake. Painting on buttercream is a little different than painting on fondant, but I wouldn't say it's harder. I think you should definitely give it a go!

    Both sides are gorgeous!! This is something I have really wanted to try for the past year, but when I first tried, it did not go well! I was doing a Delft Blue Dutch floral design and I certainly did not have the right brushes for it!! Our cakes and craft store was extremely limited on so many items over this whole pandemic! Made it difficult to create cakes for clients, but my success is in challenges! Each cake is super individually made, and not one cake is ever the same. I love that!! Thanks for sharing this video! I look forward to seeing more of your work!

    I've been following you on tiktok, and you inspire me ! I love working with fondant, not so much buttercream, but with this video I will have more confidence. Thank you for sharing your skills. Question, I barely can draw stick figures, I'm good at tracing. Painting however is a whole new level, any suggestions on how I may work on those skills?

    • @kyongscakesncrafts
      @kyongscakesncrafts  Před 2 lety

      I love this! Thank you. I have other painting on buttercream videos that might be a little easier to follow if your a beginner. One is painting on bc using cocoa butter and stamps. But besides that, to improve your drawing and painting skills, it just takes a lot of practice. There are a lot of online tutorials and even drawing books. You could try just getting a sketchbook and practice drawing objects around your house. Painting will take a lot of experimenting but it’s important to bot take it too seriously and allow yourself to have fun and make mistakes. You really just have to get in there and do it to get better.

    • @kyongscakesncrafts
      @kyongscakesncrafts  Před 2 lety +1

      I’m not sure how much the color would bleed. You’ll just have to experiment. If you’re worried about that, try the cocoa butter and petal dust technique I use in the other painting video. It does any bleed at all.
      I use a mock Swiss meringue recipe. Google eggless Swiss meringue or mock Swiss meringue.

    After you paint on the cake do you refrigerate? And how do you get it to room temperature without the dreaded condensation?

    • @kyongscakesncrafts
      @kyongscakesncrafts  Před 3 lety +2

      I experimented both ways, leaving it out and refrigerating. It was fine both ways. No condensation when I took it out of the fridge and left it on the counter as it returned to room temp. I even tried boxing it and putting it in the fridge in comparison to leaving it unboxed in the fridge. But no difference. This is on American buttercream. I’m not sure if other buttercream would react the same. I plan on experimenting with Swiss this week. Also, I would advise you to try it out where you live because the climate may be different so the results might differ as well. Thanks for watching!!

      It’s Swiss meringue buttercream. It doesn’t have to be frozen just firm. But keep in mind, the color might bless a bit. For no bleeding use the cocoa butter and edible petal dust technique from my other video

    Didn't the buttercream come off while u were brushing? Should we freeze the cake or what? And can i use water instead of vodka?

    • @kyongscakesncrafts
      @kyongscakesncrafts  Před 2 lety +1

      Your cake should be very cold but doesn’t have to be frozen. If you’re outraged are really soft, they don’t take off the buttercream but there is a slight texture. I would experiment with water on some leftover buttercream if I were you because I think the color might bleed a little too much. Even with vodka the color bleeds a bit after it has sat for a while. For no bleeding try the petal dust and cocoa butter technique in my other painting video.
