A bit of a factoid about the 1UZ. It is the only automotive engine that is certified by the FAA to be dropped directly into an airplane with no modifications. It’s so smooth, reliable, and overall great, that it is comfortable with sustained high RPM’s in an aircraft. Stock.

I did a 1uz swap in my 1989 pickup 10 years ago and it's been great. Ditch the hydraulic fan pump from that SC400 and use the idler bracket from that 2uz. Only other issue you may run into is the older 1uz's ECUs can have capacitors go bad. The most common capacitor failure will cause it to not send power to the injectors. I know a rebuilder with a great reputation if you need this service.

@@stevew9247 19 is fine. The fact that my 3.0 is on 33s and a 4” lift definitely doesn’t help. I’m probably going to drop it 2” and swap to 31’s eventually. That will still be plenty for me here in Florida.

Having owned both engines in two different vehicles, I absolutely love the engine family. I do have some things I don’t like about them though.

Why did you not get a JDM version? I always use JDM Texas or JDM Los Angeles when I swap in V6’s to a 1st Gen 4runner or 1st Gen Toyota Pick Up Truck.

@@chrishenry5945 what info do you need? You can google JDM Texas or JDM Los Angeles to pull up their webpage. I use these engines because Japan requires car dismantling at 100km so it will never have more than 45 thousand us miles. Excellent compression and super strong motors. If a citizen of Japan goes through a special process to keep it in service, then the may obtain the right to keep it road legal. American companies buy and import these engines to the states. All can be found on eBay or directly at vendor websites. In SoCal, it comes with a 90 day guaranteed smog pass warranty. If you want a full build write up in the conversion go to google Off-road solutions 3.4L Toyota 4Runner swap. You can get the bridge harness which mates to your factory dash from Toy Only Swaps in Oregon or have them due the entire swap for you. Hope this info helps. If you want one of these cars direct from Japan complete see Toyota Mini Truck out of Los Angeles. I have bought several right hand drives.

Eh. I'm not into the heavy sbc. These are stupid light, smooth, and decent on fuel.
