Tim pulled out his classic mixed chest on that last phrase. Love it.

      And that's commitment!
Jason, enjoy Louisville and the Barbershop Quartet and Chorus Festival, and good luck not losing your voice by the end of the week of singing.

Eric (lead) held that note without any shake or pitch change and THAT is hard to do!

Is that tenor still standing? He sang for 5 measures and no breath! Four of those measures were on the same note. And they held that last measure out longer. Someone, give him oxygen!

Have they always done this with Eric taking the post? That's the first time I've ever realized that Tim and Eric switched parts.

As far as I'm aware it's always been Eric! David Wright said once that he's heard Eric sing that tag many dozens of times and he's only warbled it once ever, a testament to how amazing of a singer he is considering it's an extremely hard soft falsetto post for a really long time

Back in 06, it was this song that I first heard of VS. As I started watching more & more VS (like Cruella de Vil to begin with), come to find out it was Tim that usually did the posts....It's interesting the to find me and my cousins' path to Vocal Spectrum fandom is quite different from every one else LUL

First, did not enjoy that ending. Top voices broke before hitting that suspension and the sound balance was way off. Second, doesn't that open harmony on the last line break barbershop conventions for contests like this? Maybe they're exceptions made for tags, but even then, I don't think this was a good one.

Are you talking about the open voicings during the post? There are no rules against wide voicings in contestable Barbershop, but of course it comes with a bit of a risk to the balance between voices.
I do believe the arrangement is contestible, even though it's unorthodox from time to time. Regardless, Vocal Spectrum won in 2006 so they don't compete anymore. This was sung at an AIC show.
Vocal Spectrum do have an unusual balance, mostly with the lead getting drowned out by the tenor and bass. But it's a part of their sound!
