"This guy? (This guy?) He likes to hold long notes."
Him: "Watch this Tim Waurick."
AND THE CLARITY OF THE NOTE? THIS QUARTET IS INSANE
Champs
This quartet just won the BHS International Championship in Louisville. And they won it resoundingly.
1 of their songs won 💯 scores in the PERformance category from all 5 *PER* judges (500 total points for that category, the highest possible, like 300 is for bowling). No competitor, either quartet or chorus, had ever done that before at the international level since the current scoring system was implemented, or even the previous 3-category system (where PER was called PRS for Presentation).
The closest before was over a decade ago with *The Ambassadors of Harmony* scoring 498 in PRS for “76 Trombones,” a performance that went truly viral. Look that up here on CZcams. 3 PRS judges scored 💯 each and the other 2 scored 99.
The rule is that a judge can only give a 💯 score if they honestly can’t think of any advice that they could give that quartet or chorus to improve that song in that category (the other 2 scoring categories are *SNG* [singing] and *MUS* [musicality, how well the song as performed adapted to the barbershop style]). For all 5 judges in a category to _all_ come to _that_ conclusion‽
He does it for longer on the album recording - 45 seconds i believe
I can hold a note for 3 hours on recordings, but only around 10 seconds on stage.
What!
and that pause just before the cadence lol, it's a big tease
0:21 that bass line WAS WAY TOO CLEAN followed BY THAT POST
such a talented crew
KJ! THAT BARI PART. AND AS A BASS IM JELLY BRO
When style meets substance...can't wait to see these guys at International this week!
Same!
Unsurprisingly they won and wiped the floor with everyone else 😂
@@hero2.824 yep, and possibly broke the scoring system in the process! 98% in MUS, 100% PER, 97% for the song...absolutely unreal
Dude I keep coming back to the Bari part at 0:10-0:15.
34 seconds... Tim Waurick's got some competition.
Jakob Stenberg from Ringmasters can post for 52 seconds.
@@karengilliland2439 Oh yeah he's a beast as well
For this specific transcription, it would make complete sense if all parts were written in the Trebble cleff the octave down.
One of the top three best quartets to walk the earth.
Midtown is both incredibly talented and such cool guys--the best
Looked like 33 seconds. Amazing.
I saw this the other day and was waiting for you to transcribe it. that bass is crazy
I sang barbershop for a while. These guys are GOOD!
That chord at 0:14 Kills!!!!!
Dude 0:14 bari is nuts
Did anyone else hear that OVERTONE???
Oh yeah.....absolutely fabulous. Reminds me of Crossroads singing to the Dapper Dans at Disneyland....the last note of "Little Patch of Heaven" was just *chef's kiss* perfect.
Fella be like doing circular breathing without an instrument lmao
Seriously though, this is insane
Wow! Just WOW!
It’d take years for me to do that
The overturn on that post? Just sick! Wow.
This is pretty insane! Wow!
Crazy! ❤
OH MY _G O D_ ????
Midtown video to celebrate international week :)
I would've passed out for two weeks afterward.
0:14 ... Jeez, Nick...leave some screamer notes for the rest of us, huh?
That’s definitely Tim waurick in disguise
OMG !!
Holy Moses… How in the world?
They sing great. They tune great. They perform great.
The last third of that "tag" reminds of a paper I handed in to my orchestration/arranging Professor in college. He handed it back and it was marked: "M² - and the release was missing."
Basically - Musical Masturbation Edging -- without the gratification.
(My intent is not to be Rude, offensive, mean, etc --- simply to share my experience with a similar type of "watch me be cool".)
Again, my opinion, please don't take offense. Dr Guiborry taught me *many* years ago
😎😎😎
for every denier that claimed guys cant sing high, contrary proof is given: A6 !!
i just suspeded belief in the laws of physics
KJ not having a gold medal by now is a crime...
He might in 4 days...
@@jasonfieler praying for that!
He's got one now.
😳🤯
dude...what is that?!?
slightly controversial opinion: this is technically very impressive but doesn't sound all that great
Great enough to win the international contest 🤷🏻♂️ they sound awesome here.
@@BradenTunes they didn't sing this song in any of the rounds this time and won, I think my point stands lol (although tbf they probably would have won with this as well)
@@kleopatra540 fair comment. I respect that. I think “great” is dependent on what you’re looking for in the sound-like you said, technically very impressive. Coolest thing about each quartet is creating a stand-out sound! I’ve been hoping for Midtown to win for the last couple of years. Here’s to Lemon Squeezy next year!
