  • i bought this guitar years ago and aways enjoyed how it plays and sounded but it is pretty plain looking so i veneered the top and moved the input jack to the side,i put it back together to finish this video but in a few weeks when the finish is completely dry ill take it back apart and buff and polish the finish

    Sir you have given me the confidence to veneer my Les Paul jr and my tesico sg. Though that could use a couple layers to bring it back up to thickness.

    Wow you did amazing things crafting that top. But I cannot help thinking that some black stain would have been spot on.

    Trying to do the same on a beat up Epiphone sg. The previous owner decided to take a chisel to sections of the body.
    Was it spray adhesive you used for the veneer? I had read spray adhesive wasn’t a great choice for veneer, but seems to have worked great.
    What type of finish did you use. Lacquer?

      I used spray glue but I don't think I will if I do it again ,it worked but I had to reglue some edges ,yes laquer for the finish , thanks for watching

    So you used the spray adhesive! Have you had good luck with it in the past and any particular brand of glue to use?

    • @sdmcustoms
      @sdmcustoms  Před měsícem

      I've only tried this twice , regular wood glue left ripples in the veneer so for me it didn't work,so I'd say any good contact adhesive is my go to

    Plz eggsplain how you knew where to cut the holes for the pickup cavities. Did you use a template?

    • @sdmcustoms
      @sdmcustoms  Před 4 lety +1

      You can push on the veneer and feel where the cavity is or a paper template referenced off the neck pocket works too

    Where did you get the veneer? Great video and final product. Would have been a little better if you had done a voice over or something. Just a thought. But yeah, would love to know where you got the veneer.
