    Thank you so much for sharing this! It’s awesome to see how you’ve captured all this data, and I’m delighted to find I’m not the only woman in NY tracking their wardrobe on a spreadsheet.... :) Now I’m inspired to take that collected data to the next level!

    How cool. I just took a data analytics class on Saturday covering R, Tableau and sql. Great use of the tool. Would love to hear what you have learned about your wardrobe. Have missed your videos.

    Wow! This makes my gmail draft document where I list my main wardrobe pieces and thoughts look so amateurish. You definitely inspired me to look at my daily wardrobe pics and at least count the amount of times I have worn items this year.

    I've just started a wardrobe inventory, but this is just amazing what you've done! The idea of tracking cost per wear, incorporating wardrobe maintenance costs, etc. is very intriguing to me...
    So far, I've managed to accurately inventory items purchased within the past year, but what do you suggest with items that you've had in your wardrobe for many years?
    As an aside, my wardrobe inventory started when someone did not believe that my work heels were 10 years old.

    • @goldzipper
      @goldzipper  Před 6 lety

      Great question and it's one of the biggest challenges with the inventory process. I'm able to remember how much almost all pieces were just because it's something that sticks with me, but there are a few that I just can't remember, so there are some NULLs in my data. I also rely on photos for some of the older pieces to remember when I purchased them.
      10 years? That's amazing! What is your secret for keeping them nice??

      @v1mu Před 5 lety

      @@goldzipper Sorry! I'm terrible at replying in youtube, but basically, I wipe the inside and outside on a weekly basis. When needed, I re-tip the heels, and I also recently resoled them (approx 2 years ago). They are a very good quality designer brand, patent/ glossy leather so that probably helped with longevity, as wearing in rotation (I try to alternate between shoes). Wearing them indoors more than outdoors also extends their lifespan (especially now that they are the most worn shoes of my collection).

    This is so so interesting! I want to set something up for myself now. Have you found since you've been tracking your wardrobe like this it has changed any purchasing habits?

    • @goldzipper
      @goldzipper  Před 6 lety +1

      Great question. I think so, but I haven't looked into the shopping habits aspect yet. I don't think it's changed my shopping habits, because I still buy pieces that are cute, but not necessarily a need, or pieces that don't align with my ethical values because it's my only option. I do feel that it has impacted how I take care of my items and the amount that I bring in. For example, I'm much better at getting pieces repaired when they start to fall apart than before or really considering if a piece that's a "want" not a "need" aligns with my established style. You've got me really interested in this now, I'll have to dig a bit deeper :)

    Also, you mentioned that you developed your tableau skills on CZcams. Can you recommend any channels that have engaging tutorials?

    • @goldzipper
      @goldzipper  Před 6 lety

      Good question. I didn't follow a specific channel, but when I couldn't figure how to do something, I would just look for a CZcams video on it. There are some really great free videos on the Tableau website to get you started as well!

    OMG this is awesome!!! Thanks for sharing!!! I've been tracking my wardrobe in excel but this is a whole new level! So inspiring! I would really love to do this, but I'm not familiar with "cleaning data" and such. Would you consider doing more of a detailed tutorial as of how to get started on this? It would be super helpful! @latina.minimalista

    Hi Maria, do you know how to display webhosted images on the custom shapes? have you done that?

  • @nycreader728
    @nycreader728 Před 6 lety

    impressive work, but...why not just use an app like stylebook? functionally way simpler and more visual... and it tracks all that data automatically. This seems like a lot more work, without much more payoff

    • @goldzipper
      @goldzipper  Před 6 lety

      Good question. There are a few apps that provide inventory, analysis, recommendation functionality which is a great option and more user friendly/less manual. I wanted to have the flexibility to structure the data how I wanted for the purpose of telling stories with it both through visualizations, dashboards, and deeper analysis.
