  • Hi everybody,
Well I am finally almost finished with the terrain on my layout.
The "bar rail" around the outside of the table is complete.
All of the "Big Red Buttons" (aka: Track Call/Deslot buttons) are in place.
All of the foam terrain pieces (with the exception of 2 pieces) are coated with ground cover and in place.
I am going to take a short break from the scenery for a bit to actually do some racing, clean up some wiring, work on a few cars, get the race management system dialed in, get the lights/guard rail/catch fence in on turn 2, and start designing the analog/digital switching so I can some old school cars with analog controllers.
Let me know in the comments if you have any questions/suggestions.
    Be safe and have fun!
    Happy Holidays!
    Cheers,
    Jeff (Garage Maker Guy)

Beautiful layout. But I can never get over those white lines painted onto Carrera track.

That red and white rail gives it a nice finished look. Solid build. Nice attention to detail.

Hi Jimmy, Thanks for watching and the comment. You will be able to see some racing soon. I am trying to figure out how to film it so it doesn't look like crap and I am probably going to need a GoPro or two to capture all the angles. I only have my phone and a handcam at the moment.
Be safe and have fun :)

Slotcar Table Update and more..(part 2 of 2)
    1,272 views•22 Sept 2019
Hey Jeff, Great to see the progress. I am finding that I am not mr. Handy and am trying to set the track up on 20X8 table and I keep going back looking at your original layout last September and was wondering why you changed it up so much- was it a boring run or something else.
Happy New Year! good to get into the hobby these days to.

    • @garagemakerguy1808

      Good to hear from you,
My main table is 16X8 with extensions to support the parts of the layout that extend past the main table.
The layout from last September is a great layout and definitely not boring. I just wanted to tryout as many layouts as possible before committing to putting the time and materials into the scenery.
The layout that I have now (December 2019) was designed by myself with several iterations. The other club members and myself agreed that this would be "the layout". It is a little longer than the previous layouts at 33 meters each lane (a little over 108 feet). It has a great balance of high speed straightaways, banked turns, and a fairly technical infield with varying radius turns.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Be safe and have fun :)
      Cheers,
      Jeff (Garage Maker Guy)

Doin your exact set up would buy a guard rail for HB turn if still available. Also how did you connect wire blocks to the main power track. I don't see any jumpers between them or a wire going to the power control.

what did you use a the white wall or that red trim on the white wall.

Do you run 124th scale cars also or just 132nd scale and you have a beautiful track

  • @TacticsClub1

    What is that power supply?

    • @garagemakerguy1808
      @garagemakerguy1808  Před 3 lety +1

The aftermarket power supply that I use is a 10A 0-30VDC adjustable power supply that provides many benefits over the stock Carrera power supply:
1.) The voltage can be adjusted to provide the 14.4 VDC for 1/32 Carrera Digital cars, 18.0 VDC for 1/24 Carrera Digital cars, or 12.0 VDC for classic analog cars.
2.) Because the aftermarket power supply is adjustable, you do not need 2 different Carrera power supplies to run 1/24 or 1/32 cars.
3.) The aftermarket power supply has a much greater current capacity (aka: more amps) and is a better choice for larger layouts, the use of multiple cars, and the use of modified cars without putting a strain on the power supply.
Power Supply: 0-30 VDC 10Amp from Amazon:

I hope that answers your question.
      Cheers,
      Jeff (Garage Maker Guy)
